I just watched this scene for 3 times now, and I realized that the little girl really resembles Motoko!!! Isn't that girl really the old Motoko?! Motoko did get a prosthetic body when she were just a little girl!!! She said she'd broken her doll when she was recently in a prosthetic body and cried back then.
Guess I need to keep on going to find out this mysterious quest.
This part was done so well in english as well. It managed to carry the weight of the drama and the emotion that was intended for the original dubbing and thats a rarity to me. Kudos to the cast of both GITS series. This part was the best to me.
This episode was reallt depressing..... It reflected on how she was alone, and still somewhat is. I think that they did love eachother, as friends at first, but it evolved towards the end of the seconed season. I also like the English voices much better, just because motoko sounds too fragile in this one, not at all the tom-boy bad cop she really is ;)
can anyone out there tell me the song that got alot of play during season one its like a symphony with the violins totally highlighted it gets played when section 9 is kinda putting pieces together to solve the case, with a little drum and bass in the background
No, it was never a love story. The saddening part was the way the two could've become best friends. They were the only survivors of a major plane crash, and they happened to end up next to each other both while seated in the plane and while in the hospital. Both ended up acquiring cyborg bodies.
Motoko then showed herself to be one of compassion...but whether she treasured those memories...who knows? =-)
if it makes any sense i know that she did because it came to me that this might be the guy that motoko was stuck underground with, the revolution guy she said to him something like "can you fold cranes with your left hand only?" i didn't know what she meant but he did eat that apple with his left hand, i think she knew then what was up,but could do nothing to help out everyone on his side, being a part of section 9 and all.
i do think it was love, that kind of love only children feel for each other.(of course it's sth. to do with friendship, but there are more emotions in it...i wonder if you understand.
And for me the saddening part is that they were connected to each other although in a world where they had noone else, but were tore apart and weren't able to find each other again.
Motoko is treasureing ALL the things that are importend to her, in her heart, and what through all the years has been there is the memory of THIS boy, whom she first liked....
not true oh~ the things she treasure most are all of her section9. check out the first season. i forgot which episode was it but its the ones that the gov't raid the section9 head quarter. i think this all began with bato asking Motoko about why she wears this old watch...she then explain to him that during each transformation of cyborg body, she looses her memories a bit. so in order for her to remember, she keeps her important stuff with her so she can remember after she wakes up.....
.....but she fails to remember any. now she only keep those things because she knew it was part of her along the way. if you look carefully, she wears that old watch in the very beginning of this clip, but "the girl" didn't. so i assume she had long forgotten anything about her first tranformation, and the boy too. and that's the reason why the old lady was there to tell her the story, not directly to the audiance.
in Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex SAC 2nd GiG, episode 11 Affection. From 16.04 time duration, what is the name of the song and the artist? I think the song was very good.
Insta-faved! Simply beautiful! Not many things can cause me shed tears, but this, Milo and Odis, and Futurama Fry's dog, and Leela's "Fry's Dead because of big bees episode." Can't think of any thing else off the top of my head.
Anybody know what the title of the music (no lyrics) that was playing when kusanagi was about to leave the shop for the final time after finishing the paper crane?
Here's the secret to this episode, folks. The Girl and the Boy in the story are...
Motoko and Kuze (Roh)! Don't forget the paper crane she found at the boat dock, and her comments just after she tried to dive into Kuze's system and nearly fried her barrier: "I KNOW HIM!"
But most importantly, she wondered that because of the post-AI who evolved as a new self-aware entity, that she may be something of the likes of it. An act of self awareness of here self, another entity.
The movie has a part where she wonders about her past, wondering if she might just be a advanced AI with fake memories since she had never seen part of her human braincells or any other way to support her childhood memories.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Maybe this episode could have been made for the other characters but not Motoko because it completely defeats the purpose of the main film for me. Great song though.
The animated series works under the assumption that the events in the first movie never have nor will transpire. If it weren't so, there'd be other oddities like how they ask Togusa about his affinity for revovlers in the movie as well.
I agree, but Togusa's affinty for revolvers is just a minor thing. This on the other hand is very big because it's Motoko's curiousity about her cyborg past that led and kept her on persuing "The Puppet Master" and ultimately merging with him. Still a great series but it just doesn't fit.
This is beautiful episode but there is something stupid in it that completely contradicts the movie. Motoko isn't suppose to know her origin it's the driving force of her curiousity in the film. Yet we have here an episode about her life??
1. This is the SERIES...NOT...THE MOVIE! Different universes!
2. The driving force of her curiosity is how much of a human being she is, being mostly robotic. I'm pretty sure she remembers where she went to school as a little girl and such about her past.
Awww I love this episode about Motoko and Kuze's childhood! T_T But what happenes at the end of the series when they meet up again made me very sad :(
This one enjoyed the clip very much. Thank you very much. I didn't notice the backround song at first when I saw it on TV. I now love this song with all my heart and several nonexisting ones too.
one of the best scenes.
