TOM TANCREDO is so wrong! bilingual countries don't work? there are two official in my country languages, which of one is the primary. i get education with that language. being bilingual doesn't make legislation more difficult!

We can't survive as a nation within a nation... we need our ideological differences, but we must retain some sense of resolute culture. My forefathers all quit speaking Gaelic, German, Polish, etc. and assimilated into American culture. Learn and speak english, and focus on reforming our rediculous immigration policy. Switzerland has four official languages (German, French, Italian, Rhaeto Romanic) and it has one of the strongest economies in the world. (apart from the fact that 21 % of their population are foreigners.) (oh, and they're neutral, too). Just a thought...

McCain manages to always be moving... but the question seems to be whether English is recognized as a primary -and absolutely necessary- language for the nation. He stood that people should immigrate legally, which is substantively the same as Tancredo... he just doesn't stand that a common language is utterly essential for a functioning society.

Bush governed as a liberal?! what?! Veto'd stem cell research bill, supports intelligent design teaching in school, preemptive war in Iraq, electing of conservative supreme court justices for the beginnings of the overturning of Roe vs Wade, where is he liberal??

Appointing and electing are two different things if that was the case Bush would have been able to get Harriet Myers to the Supreme Court which he was not able to do. While the court is leaning more conservative don't hold your breath on Roe vs. Wade being overturned, abortion rights may be restricted but the are not going away anytime soon.

Though funnily enough Bush complains about activist judges and thats exactly what he wants it would take an activist judge to overturn Roe vs. Wade because you would have to ignore judicial precedent in overturning such a ruling.
