This really shows that Daryl Hall is not just some pop MTV artist, people should really check out all the material that they have done. Rather then being known for songs like Maneater.
I first heard this in August 1985...as I my first serious girlfriend and I were breaking up. I left for college about a week later, quit smoking, cold turkey, on the way down and leaned heavily on this song to get over and back.
I can't believe someone posted this! I haven't heard this in years! I am on a mission now to find this on CD and load it into my MP3! I have always loved this song. So haunting and smooth.
This is one of those songs that could have been either a Todd song or an H&O song. It reminds me a little of "I dont want to tie you down" from A Wizard A True Star (other than the harp solo, which I can take or leave).
Classic, inspired Daryl Hall composition. Beautiful song with great David Foster production, just wish it was longer! Does anyone know who played the harmonica solo? Toots?
I didn't know it was pics of a Japanese city. The lyrics don't specifically say where he is. They travelled alot through their career. Why not Japan? Thanks, now I've envisioned the song a different way :)
This the most wonderful song It's the kind of song that makes you want to scream at the top of my lungs and from the tallest building that's why this group won the song writers award, awesome!
Proof of Daryl being one of rock's greatest vocalists, yes!.. but also proof of his mezmerizing poetic talents. Along the Red Ledge contains some of Daryl and John's best storytelling and poetry. Way overlooked album.
I think maybe you don't get it; this song doesn't sound anything like Julian Cope if that's what you are talking about. This is more of a white R & B song with jazzy chord changes, that song is a droning english new-wave dirge.
Here, here...CRAZY EYES is without a doubt one of their greatest hits, that wasn't a hit.....absolutely awesome song. Matter of fact, I've got a 2 CD Greatest Hits project of theirs, that has all their biggest songs collection you'd ever want. EXCEPT, Crazy Eyes is so good, I paid full cd price for another of their "hits" projects, just so I could have it to listen too.....worth every penny.
love this song !!

He is featured on a double album with Toots, where he plays all jazz standards. You can find it at Amazon.
