I haven't had a chance to play the game yet but I've seen playthroughs and one thing that stands out is that some of the areas are just too full of identical rooms. I was hoping Iga would cut down on this but it's not a major annoyance and the game still looks great. It Also seems like the most emotional game in the series to date, actually pulls on your heartstrings from time to time, something SOTN and other game just couldn't get quite right, primarily due to horrible english voiceacting.
The horrible voice acting in Symphony, though, has become so intertwined in Castlevania history with it's comedic failure....I was kinda upset they'd changed it for Dracula X Chronicles.
eh, I only really played the psX version a few times. i can understand the nostalgic aspect of it though. I'm that way towards the voice acting in MMX4. (which is insanely bad too)
This game's engine is difficult to explain, but I do think that you could have simplified it's description a bit here and there. Also... how about some music? I heard some at the beginning and the end, but the middle really needed some.
I find it interesting (if not amusing) that people call Iga's games rehashes of Metroid, when many of the RPG elements have nothing to do with Metroid & were already established in Vampire Killer & Simon's Quest. Also many older Castlevanias were rehashes too.
It's because they share the same basic structure where you're placed out in an open side-scrolling environment occasionally coming across bosses while hunting for items that will allow you to in turn explore more of the environment. It doesn't help that they also decided to use a mapping system nearly identical to Super Metroid's.
I think Order of Ecclesia has pretty much left the Metroid formula behind, if they continue in this direction the comparison won't even make sense any more.
On a side note I'm not really all that proud of my first comment, it sounded like I was being defensive. I guess my feelings have changed.
Way better review then IGN n some other crap reviews. Thanks for being thorough.

Wow. Actual production values in a video on YouTube? Did you use a cheat code or something? Great review.

Yeah, I like that style. It's pretty creative. I too was a bit surprised by the voice. Heh heh. :D
Yes, I'm a member of CVC and CVDF. And yes, I know both Bloodreign and TGMagus. I liked the video. Nice job. :)

Finally get to hear the voice behind the woman, also not exactly what I expected.

Wow Sindra, your voice isn't at all what I imagined it would sound like.
Good job. I see a bit of the Escapist's style in there with the images.
Keep up the good work!
