  • It's such a shame he passed away, he'll be missed. :( RIP

  • Then God should have made us all robots and denied free will, instead, he made us in his image-being able to freely understood what is good, and giving us the freedom to do it.

  • R.I.P. Andy...you were one of the best. :-(

  • @hihellohowareyou1000 I think you must've missed the occupy rally today. I saw a tent with your name on it.

  • @hihellohowareyou1000 Refrain from sending me your hate mail! engage in conversation with those who share your twisted views.

  • 2;41 what he mean? or what he said?

  • @letsrollchargers "I've been paid to say what's on my mind on television."

  • I'll miss those eyebrows ;~;

  • RIP Good sir.

  • there is something here that feels like a premonition of his passing--

maybe yes, maybe no, but this was a man who loved words and loved the truth

  • RIP Rooney

  • man i wish it ended before that smirking jerkoff anchorcock came back

  • I'm glad that he gave credit to his high school teacher for inspiring him to find his potential. Now that teachers are under attack in places like Ohio and Wisconin for being greedy and union thugs, its nice to know that they are appreciated for doing good things by people like Rooney who has done great things. I was never a fan of his grumpy style, but he did it his way and was old enough not to care about what others thought.

  • Andy passed away the same day & month my husband did in 1965. Two great men taken away. So sad. They are now resting in peace until Christ returns.

  • i sometimes see myself as a politically conservative, Jewish version of Andy Rooney. I should only be so lucky to actually be all that. RIP, Andy Rooney. I may not have always agreed with your views, but you never failed to make me think

  • Admired him for telling the truth..

    U will be missed!!

I enjoyed watching him with my dad, then we talked about all the things he said later on.. I missed those days.

  • He spoke his mind

    R.I.P

  • His commentaries were always a swift kick to the nuts. The guy was not funny and his eyebrows always disturbed me

  • @JoelR2010 Agreed!

  • JoelR2010 is not funny but does have disturbing eyebrows

  • A brilliant and respected man, but an imbecille for not believing in God.

  • @protochris, You're the imbecile for thinking a just god would send this great man to eternal damnation just for being skeptical towards your deeply flawed and plagiarized belief system. You come this post and disrespect a great man who just died and for WHAT?!!! To bicker with people over religion!! No respect! Andy Rooney contributed more to our society than all you superstitions hate mongers put together.

  • @whatisdrunkal Who said I condemned the man to eternal damnation? It's your hatred toward those who believe thats flawed. As a man, I have great respect for Andy Rooney, but any man who denies the existence of God- no matter his education, brilliance, or any accolades is fundamentally a fool. That's not talking religion or any particular god. If God is real, then Andy showed him or her some serious disrespect.

  • @protochris Look at at your last sentence; "If God is real?" You don't sound so convinced yourself. If you can't understand why calling someone a fool just moments after he has passed then I have nothing more to discuss with you.

  • @whatisdrunkal I was speaking of the hypothetical, I also used the hypothetical he/she was well.

Ease up, this is a blog, it's not his obituary, it was his final tv sign off.

  • @protochris You can't admit it can you? You can't admit that it's just wrong to call a man, who was loved by millions, an imbecile the DAY AFTER HE DIED!! And all because he didn't believe in your GOD! Tell me the truth, you do think he's in hell! This kind soul who has helped millions. That's what you meant! Why else would you say it now? The thought gives you pleasure. And you'l say it again the next time a religiously skeptical yet kind soul leaves our world. Won't you?

  • @whatisdrunkal Andy denied God during his lifetime, and also ridiculed people of faith; for this he was a fool.

He also ridiculed blacks and gays. Andy had an opinion about everyone; maybe that's partly why America liked him so much. I sure don't wish he is in hell. I hope he was wrong and is presently in the arms of a gracious and loving God.

  • @protochris ....One may argue that those who waste their time waiting on a mythological being, to tell them what to do their whole life, are the true fools. BTW....I know MANY people who say that they are Good, loving Christians that spew hatred about other races, and gay people. I hope that he isn't on his knees worshipping God for all eternity. How boring is that? I'd rather think that he is alive in the minds of many that admired him.

  • @MrGojags ...as opposed to non Christians who spew hatred on people who don't think the way they do about God. Hatred and bigotry are faults of humanity not God; no religion or philosophy has a monopoly on them. Secular atheism is especially not immune from those faults-remember communism, naziism? Wow!, what a wonderful thing to look forward to- being alive in someone's mind. I'd rather bend a knee to my creator.

  • @protochris ...." Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not wiliing? Then he is malevolent. Is he both able and willing? Then whence cometh Evil? Is he neither able nor willing? Then why call him God?" -Epicurus

  • "I detested Patton and everything about the way he was. It was because we had so few soldiers like him that we won the war. Patton was the kind of officer that our wartime enlisted men were smarter than. It was the independent action of the average GI that made our Army so successful, not the result of the kind of blind, thoughtless devotion to the next higher authority that Patton demanded."

Fuck Andy Rooney. He wanted the US to stay out of WWII. How many more innocents would have died?

  • : The world lost a good man today with the passing of Andy Rooney. His essays on 60 minutes were sometimes serious and sometimes not. But, they all made a point and usually made me laugh. As a tribute to him I think CBS (60 Minutes) should consider running his essays again as "Encore performances" so to speak. I would certainly watch them and I know millions of other people would too.

  • @vandraiss I AGREE I WAS A FAN OF HIS COMMENTARY, DEFINITELY A GOOD DUDE

  • The absolute last of Americans that i can think of that have a head that is screwed on straight. Andy had common sense which is not so common these days, and the wisdom to know when and where to say and use it. He had balls enough not to care what anyone thought or if they agreed. Which whether or not we did he was still usually right.

  • R.I.P. Andy Rooney. Lots of laughs with your final commentaries.

  • I didn't expect him to last too long without his show, but this came as a surprise: R.I.P. Andy!

  • Fare well dear Mr. Rooney, requiescis in pace.

When Sacha Baron Cohen as Ali G ridiculed Mr. Rooney tactlessly setting him up, I was very upset. I never mentioned this to anyone, but now I feel I should get it off my chest at least under this obituary.

  • @TrulyMostHated ur the butt fuckin faggot douche

  • RIP Andy.

  • Andy - RIP

  • RIP

  • Who cares - just another CBS hack that didn't think the world could ever get along without him.

  • @pyrotechnic67 we lost alot more when he died than we will than you die.

  • @pyrotechnic67 Fuck you

  • @pyrotechnic67 I never really watched him and I certainly don't like CBS or 60 Minutes, but just have some respect for the deceased whether you agreed with them or not. It's not like he was a violent man or caused lots of evil in this world. But I'll give him and his family a RIP for his passing just to be considerate. Hopefully someone doesn't do the same to you when you die like you're doing...

  • @NoFaceNowThatsAce What a rather fake thing to say.

  • @Rhythmicons What crawled up your ass? I can't leave something out of respect for him because I'm not a die hard fan? I can't speak out against someone who is mocking the recently deceased?

  • Rip :(

  • Seriously, who 'Disliked' this, and why?

  • This is actually one of his best speeches. RIP Randy.

  • And thus passes one of the brightest stars in our time leaving behind wisdom for the ages.

  • R.I.P Mr. Andy Rooney

  • Vaya con dios,Andy

  • Very different watching this now that he's gone.

  • RIP Mr. Rooney

  • i see words in his forehead.

    "No BS allowed"

  • I would love to have his clarity of thought at 92. Going out, not addled or feeble, but spry and sharp.. This is better than all of the money, fame, tributes and I-phones in the world. RIP Mr. Rooney.

  • Adios Andy! you were an intelligent man who never feared to voice his opinion - and we love you for that

  • RIP Andy Rooney , you racist windbag

  • so sad Andy Rooney is the man why are all the great interviewers leaving Larry King, Regis , Rooney

  • His voice will always live on through 60 minutes. They should rerun all his segments from first to last

  • R.I.P. Mr. Rooney

  • There will be many to come after you; however, there would only be one Andy Rooney...no copy cats..RIP Mr. Rooney thank you for your essay of truth

  • A storybook ending to a life well lived.

  • R.I.P. Mr. Rooney

  • RIP Andy!

While I didn't agree with your political views and you struck me as a grumpy old fart, I enjoyed your commentary my entire adult life on 60 Minuets. You will be missed.

  • Rest in peace, Andy. Your essays and the way you spoke your mind will live always in our hearts.

  • I didn't always agree with his point of view and sometimes thought he was barking up the wrong tree but Andy always a treat to watch. Of course, he'll be missed.

  • R.I.P.

  • R.I.P. Andy

  • Sometimes Andy Rooney was the highlight of 60 minute, I would always watch to the end to see him speak ~ RIP ~ thank you for what you left with us.

  • He looks and sounds very good for a 92 year old. Thats how I dream of leaving this earth

  • My hero. It doesn't get much better than this. He is from my Grandpa's generation. My Grandpa was also in WWII. Mr. Rooney is right. No matter what I do for a living (database administrator), a writer is always a writer. I write....a lot. I do other things to make a living. Still....I write...I can't help myself. It is an obsession. So, I understand what he is saying. Writers cannot stop being writers; no matter what they do for a regular wage. Love ya' Andy. See ya later.

  • Rest in Peace Mr. Rooney. We will miss you!

  • RIP Andy, your wit and charm are always in our heart -a distant fan from Hong Kong

  • Rest in Peace! Your acerbic views will be missed.

  • Always loved Andy's segment. He covered everything, from the mundane to matters of great significance. He WAS brutally honest, but he said things that HAD to be said by someone - he never balked at being THAT one. "My War" gives a great look at Andy's formative writing years during WWII as a correspondent with the Stars & Stripes. As the guards for his generation rapidly dwindle, I can't help but feel that we will never see none greater again.

  • godbless

  • one of the greatest personalities on television. oops, I mean WRITERS! I will miss him... RIP The guy was great.

  • Thank you for everything and Rest in Peace

  • Andy Rooney will be missed by many.

    Rest In Peace. 1919-2011.

  • Before I became interested in news I watched 60 Minutes because of Andy Rooney - Rest in peace sir, you will be missed.

  • Andy's brutal honesty will be truly missed in these current times of BS media. Forged in the fires of the greatest generation his no nonsense attitude was a breath of fresh air in a polluted medium... Andy, you sir, were one of a kind.

  • Rest in peace - one will miss you very much.

  • R.I.P. You are missed.

  • R.I.P Andy Rooney

  • Rest in peace Mr. Rooney

  • R.I.P

  • RIP, Andy Rooney.

  • Rest in Peace Andy- I grew up with watching you many moons ago. You will always be remembered.

    God Speed

  • R.I.P Andy! ' eSaW

  • R.I.P Andy Rooney...

  • Rest in peace, Andy. I aspire to be a writer one day, and I only hope that I can be as great as you one day. <3

  • You will be missed!! I loved watching him and reading his books. So sad that he didn't get to enjoy his retirement. Such a wonderful and interesting person.

  • rip :(

  • R.I.P. Andy Rooney !!!

  • RIP

  • Going to miss him. Hope he gets well.

  • He had me watching 60 Minutes ever week with my parents from the age of 7, for years I watched the show just to see him, and when I was older I was glad I'd watched the show for so long, and will always be in debt to him for that gift. I'll miss seeing him every week.

  • Read between the lines of his resume and you can tell he Sucked his way up the ladder. If he can't at least say Hi to people on the street he's a Prick.

    Adios Asshole!

  • @Boomer1941 It's been said before in this thread. Andy has done more that you ever will with both his life and for his audience. I may not always agree with Andy, but he's like a pair of almost worn out slippers. They make you feel comfy and warm along with a sense of comfort. Cheers Andy, Thanks for the memories.

  • Iconic figure, he will be missed, sometimes I would just watch 60 minutes just to watch his segment!

  • I didn't always agree with Mr. Rooney, but I always enjoyed hearing what he had to say. He was the only part of 60 Minutes that I actually watched. Thank you for your enjoyable braodcasts.

  • @sushiking1223 fuck you stupid cunt

  • rooney is a classy and respectable guy, 60 minutes will truly miss him and i wish him nothing but the best as he rides off into the sunset

  • I always enjoy a good rant , and Andy was one of the best at it. He had a way of elevating the mundane, making us think, appreciate, question, or just laugh at ourselves, the world, or life. Sometimes he even made me cry. He never pretended to be anything other than what he is -- someone who finds the world a curious place, and isn't afraid to question it. I look forward to seeing what you do next, at 92!!

  • Andy you've always been a classy man who has written and spoken the truth, you'll be missed.

  • Mr. Rooney, thank you very, very much for your years as a top-notch writer and host. You're awesome.

  • damn that's a shame. I really liked watching him on 60minutes,basically the only reason I ever watched that show:/

  • @flycentro123 feel better now turd? He made a hell of a bigger mark that some shit stain like you.
