  • Engine noise is due to short distance trip or cold start. The noise will go away after you drive for a few minutes at 30-45 mph. This is a know problem with this model N52 Engine. I have the same car and had the same problem with ticking noise. It will not damage your engine but you can get it fix by taking it to the dealer, it is under factory warranty. See link below for more info. I got my fixed under warranty, dealer replace 12 hydraulic lifter. Do a search for "BMW ticking noise

  • @SuperKayla1111 They will replace the entire head with new lifters that are about 1mm shorter. This will eliminate the ticking problem completely. The issue was the hydraulic valve lifters were out of specification and oil wasn't lubing them during cold starts and and short trips when the engine didn't reach operating temp. It was very annoying when I lived in New York. It has since gone away and never returned!

  • @melmelcorvette Previous owner probably abused it, just needs some re adjusting under the hood, all cars need that kind of re adjusting after being abused time and time again. Although I have been in two accidents (not at fault) with my BMW and I enjoy a lot of high reving and it doesn't tick like that at all
