The thing that makes naruto better than many is the unique and interesting characters. Unfortunately, I would say the plot has actually become predictable and repetetive. The creator is starting to run out of good ideas. The same with Bleach and Fairy Tail.

When they started shippuden it was pretty steady until the fight with pain, then the annoying fillers started again.

If u can't be bothered watching the whole Naruto I advice u to watch the manga and watch Naruto Shippuuden episode 1 to the fight of Pein (I think Around 160, I could be wrong though).

Once they are done with the entire series they should remake it. Remove fillers, reduce flashbacks. Speed up the entire series a bit overall. And patch up the art work here and there. That would leave a excellent anime.

Agreed. Naruto is far to mainstream to be unique. It takes somebody really special to take what has been seen and used an infinite number of times and turn it into something amazing.
