Yes, I am very curious too on how you get the Hank sound (especially the ripple effect) with a regular Meazzi. Please let me know. Anyway, very well played. Congratulation!!
I would like to know just what modifications you made to the VOX echo to get the ripple famous in Wonderful Land, because the originals I have used could never get that effect. Maybe head spacings altered, difficult without changing the size of the heads etc. It's a mystery to me how you have done it. Clue me in please.
The head spacing is altered at all. But there mini switches and toggles installed for head selection both for repeats and feedbacks. Also the volume of heads 5 and 6.
Hey!!! That was Perfectly done man! Well done, I loved listening to someone who has learnt how to play properly, and to execute a 'shadows track' spot on!! Thanks very much!! Duxfordwing.
I truly enjoyed listening. Your's is among the few best (if not THE best) cover version I have heard to date. And I've heard many! I never tire of hearing a good version, especially when it is played with feeling, like you do -that makes a world of difference, to me. I always love playing this tune myself, too.
I must say as a huge shadows fan, your version is Brilliant !!! amazing sound, , amazing echo, and that Delay , man, you did a super job on this wonderful tune
Please can you write me what year is the guitar ? what are you use exactlly , the delay ? echo ? , i want that sound exactlly, i play on a Fender strat 1979, and you can check my version of apache here on the youtube , but your sound is stunning !
Thank you for your reply, that is awsome tape echo...and from 1963 ? i want one like that....someday ill find i hope, my Boss delay dont do the exactly loops i need ..like in "wonderful land", "atlantis" or 36-24-36....sounds really amazing
Yes it's a vintage machine Lior. But you can get this type of echo patterns using a unit that is capable of multitap delay, such Alesis Q2 or Q20, Zoom G7, Yamaha MagicStomp and get a program from Charlie Hall at EFTP from England. The echo patterns will be spot on!
Yes i must get that site of Charlie Hall, i heard alot of good things about his EFTP with the exactly loops that we :the shadows fans need :) thank you so much again
Thank you for the information on the Vox Long Tom Echo. You are very lucky to have acquired this highly sought after vintage Tape Echo from the 1960's. I note that there was not much difference in the sound of your Vox Tape Echo from the Swiss Echo used by Reggie in the Quest recording of Lengang2 Kangkong and your version of that tune was spot on.
This is the best version of Wonderful Land that I have heard on Youtube. I have enjoyed all your performances on Youtube and just love the sound of your Vox Long Tom Tape Echo. Where did you buy that tape echo and how much did you pay for it?
The Vox long tom is an old echo from 1963/1964, it's almost 50 years old. They don't make them anymore, and it's quiet rare..if it's available it will fetch quiet a bit of money.
Robby, This is an outstanding version...close your eyes and you are listening to Hank Marvin himself.....the sound is perfect...your playing is spot on.....2 thumbs up !!! My only comlaint is that you need to do more videos...Keep up the great work....Norm from the USA
Brilliant I could not hear any difference between Robby and Hank B. Marvin. You can take over the lead guitar game in the Shadows of Hank wants time off. Regards Mats
@u46507461 Hi mats, thanks so much for your compliments. Wow it would be nice to play with the Shads haha a. But nobody could replace Hank unfortunately.
Once again, you deliver a stunning interpretation of a dear and old classics. Love your echo and of course your fine guitar playing with superb timing and quality.
