I am 13 and will be 14 in september. and i will be getting my first yearling in a few months. it is also my first time ever training a horse do u have any tips for me thanks.
I absolutely love watching you work with him! Teddy is a wonderful horse :D I have similar views to you with training horses, though I'm slightly new to it.
This is beautiful. I love the caption for the video that you have written as well. This is what real horsemanship is about. The bond. Keep up the great work.
wow, very nice. this is the kind of things i did with my first horse.. i loved her, and trusted her so much, she was my best friend, and sadly i just sold her to an old couple for their 7 year old grand daughter.
I love what you do and I work in a very similar way with my horses. I love the arena you are using it just looks like the absolute perfect size please could you let me know the dimensions as we are about to build one and it so hard to know what size to go for? I'd really appreciate it. Well done for having such an amazing relationship with your beautiful horse :-)
I just have to comment on one thing though. PLEASE don't coil the rope around your hand (like when you are leading him over the tarp at ~1:05-1:25). My mother-in-law lost her thumb this way when her horse spooked; when you coil the rope it can easily pull tight around your hand or a finger (and then.... pop!). A safer way is to fold the rope back and forth and hold it in the middle.
You can see without a doubt that he trust u, and u trust him :) Keep up the good work! So amazing to see there is more ppl out there who cares so much :)
Yay for the friendly game! A lovely video; thanks for sharing, and for taking the time to cultivate such a trusting relationship with this amazing animal.
Wow amazing video you should be so proud of the bond you have with your boy he obviously trusts you unconditionally which is what everyone should have with their horse! Great work!
I have a gelding. Four months ago, he bucked me off (well, more like side-steped, got me out of the saddle, and then bucked away) around four times within the month, making me scared to death. It seemed like I didn't know how anything! Just a few days ago, however, I did something strange. I tried to be more confident, and for some reason that made me trust him more. I rode for like an hour. I haven't ridden him since, but I can't wait until I do! =) I'm happy I realized how important trust is.
I had a horse just like that. I could go under her, and put the big ball under her. She was a rescue. She died in October, of a bad colic. :( Now I have another rescue horse (mare) and it's starting over time. She doesn't like her ears or poll touched, so we just lightly touch them everyday. She clearly isn't going to let us clip her bridle path. So we bought a hand massager, to rub on her, and get her used to the noise, and realized no pain, no fear, but it takes time.
Truly inspirational. Im riding my aunts horse at the moment, just kind of learning, but the relationship you guys have is georgious! Makes me want to cry :') Makes me want to have that, and I whish i could find THAT horse, not YOUR horse. MY horse. My aunts is fine for learning, but I want to find that ONE :)
Great, you made me cry. lol, I guess I'm a big softy but you have a great relationship with your horse. Good groundwork is the foundation for all great horses and it shows that you've put care, time, and effort into him. He also looks great!
I am so incredibly impressed. I have been thinking about buying a green horse and training it myself so that I could develop a good bond with it and this completely convinced me. There is an obvious incredible bond between you and your horse. He's absolutely gorgeous by the way :) I wish you the best of luck in everything you two try to achieve!
This is so amazing :) I was planning on doing this with my horse because he was abused, but someone broke into my barn and poisoned him. Sadly, he died before I could make anymore progress with him. On the good side, we made a lot of progress in the time we had together. :)
Great stuff. Now try doing that on a busy road with other horses around. Get real, horses respond to context and environment! Speaking from experience, ours live on a hill in the city.
This is inspirational! Just wondering, how long did it take you to get him accustomed to the tarp and bouncy ball and how did you introduce him to it? Thanks!
hey i have recently bought a 2 year old and i was wondering where to start... u and your horse seem to have a great relationship and i was wondering how to build one with my horse
OMG! That is so amazing!! Its so obvious that you and teddy have a special bond that can never be broken. :) I do have one question though... Have you ridden him bareback before?? Just curious. AAAWWW Hes sooooooo cute
omg it reminds me of when i took riding lessons and i completely fell in love with one of the horses. we understood eachother and had 100 percent trust in eachother. i loved her like no other. i never saw anything i had to do for her as work, it seemed like a blessing. but unfortunelty she wasnt my horse and the other people were quite cruel to her. i snapped at them to stop harrassing her but they were the owners kids and i got kicked out, i still miss her. this video made me cry ;)
Gorgeous horse and awesome to see such a bond between horse and rider. I never did parelli with my old horse but he would follow me about the stables :) very cute
this is a really good video :D i was just wondering if i could possibly use one or two clips from this video for mine please? i will mention you in the desciprtion if you like ?:)x
I am 50...have wanted horses for several years. My husband (57) and I just bought our first horses. We are beginners and wanting to learn the right way. This video is amazing, I had tears while watching this. Thank you for taking the time, I am so glad we saw this in the beginning of our new exciting journey.
after seeing this video it inspired me to do parelli, your amazing and the trust he has for you is amazing i got a massive yoga ball for xmas and a parelli headcollar and am slowly building up the confidence and trust between me and my horse ,, thank you soo much :D xx
This video was amazing. Just that you love him so much to take some actual time to get him to trust you and to let him know that you're his friend. Unlike some owners who only want a horse for competition or money. This was really touching. :)
This is an example of a beautiful delicate bond between horse and rider. Every rider should embrace this delicate bond and make sue it never brakes. This is amazing! Horses speak a different language but they understand humans with eyes, thoughts, body language, and touch.
hi i'm writing this comment not to the video but to you. keep this in mind and please reaply. :) you see i started to ride at 10 or 11 but it seemed very strict and forcfull and because of money had to stop even thoughs lessons and some of my family have horses but still have the "do what i say or you'll get smacked" attitude so i left ridding (reluctintly) frustrated and very unsatisfied. i would just like to ask you how you did it, not just the training but the bond. please write long =)
This is beautiful! I love the way you work with him, I wish I could do that with my monster, but he literally tries to kill me. I've been trampled by him more that once.
@SandbackRider it is beautifully thick but it is very short! there tail is supposed to be that length when they are moving..not when they are standing..its supposed to be longer so when they have their tails up it looks like that..other than that he is gorgeous
@bella131517 I hope you realize that in this he was only five (Ithinksoatleast) or six. It takes a LONG time for his tail and mane to grow. and not to cut it.
@CandyBelle01 he is very gorgeous and btw they cut it..its completely straight and we just got a 2 year old tb at my barn and his tail his thin but long..just wanted to point that out
Hi guys.. Most of the ppl around da world say they love their horse or pets & BY GOD they do love them,by grooming&feeding them da best they can afford,ETC...&EXPECT da animal to OBEY their COMMANDS in return of thr love...i guess they dont know what love is...they r being selfish& r just doin a favour to da animal.."LOVE IS UNCONDITIONAL"Which they have for their masters no matter how bad u treat them..(THEY FORGIVE US)..& HORSES R DA MOST FORGIVING CREATURES...PLZ B GENTLE WIT THEM..GOD BLESS
Do you ride at Ridgewood Equestrian? they have a horse there called teddy who looks just like your teddy and the arena looks exactly the same (i know all do but this one just looks like Ridgewoods) lolz
That was absolutely beautiful! The bond you two have is obvious... I thought i recognized some Pat Parelli techniques in there? *Natural horse-man-ship all the way* wonderfully done. Mutual trust, love, and respect is the only way to be truly happy with your horse (at least that's my opinion). <3
You have an amazing horse, and bond! This video makes me so envious! I love horses with all my heart, but I can't afford to keep one. I hope one day I have a horse like this that I can connect with. You are a great rider, and have a beautiful horse!
You are an inspiration to me and everybody who has watched this video! And your horse is beautiful. You are sure to go really really far with him, so good luck in the future:-)
Wow that's amazing. I aspire to ride like that someday soon now that I'm working for a sort of half-pension so I can do things I wouldn't be able to do in lessons. I'm 16 too, and the horse, Cookie, is 17 and as peppy as a 7 year old XD ^.^ Any instructional videos (either from you or that you know of) would be GREATLY appreciated. thanks so much for the great vid ^.^
just a litte tip, i do a lot of ground work for my friends and when you are asking him to turn on his hindquarters toward you, it would be best if u looked at his hindquarters to disingage them then look at his shoulders to get him to go the other way. he understand it more and respond a lot quicker.
WOW!!!!!!! THIS IS MORE THAN INSPIRING GOOD JOB! I love this and you, your horse too! I have a horse named Quincy and sh is sort of shy do you think this would work with her?
Two months ago I saw a horse that was really skinny and not well fed. I stopped and asked if they wanted to sell it. I bought him without knowing anything about horses. I have never owned or even rode on one before. But little by little we have been learning together. After a lot of help from the veterinarian and with a bit of work on both our (horse and me) parts, he can now gallop while I'm on the saddle, but I still need work on my balance. I am going to do these exercises with him. :)
@shannonandzues I have been doing(well, trying lol) some of her exercises, she does and it helped me and my horse so much :) I Thank her so much :) good luck with him/her :D
Fantastic desensetizing ground training video!

Hi guys.. Most of the ppl around da world say they love their horse or pets & BY GOD they do love them,by grooming&feeding them da best they can afford,ETC...&EXPECT da animal to OBEY their COMMANDS in return of thr love...i guess they dont know what love is...they r being selfish& r just doin a favour to da animal.."LOVE IS UNCONDITIONAL"Which they have for their masters no matter how bad u treat them..(THEY FORGIVE US)..& HORSES R DA MOST FORGIVING CREATURES...PLZ B GENTLE WIT THEM..GOD BLESS

tarps are good, but see if the horse will let you throw a barrel over its back, or put the tarp over the head, my Boy let me. Crazy stuff :)
