Although the umpire can give it out if he thought the ball was NOT dead, clearly the ball had settled in the wicket keepers gloves and therefore is regarded as an automatic dead ball and should NOT be given out. I mean what umpire would consider the ball to still be alive?

This is a stretch of the spirit of the game if not the rules. Can't be run out (he wasn't attempting a run) and Lara clearly had completed his stroke and batting action. I put this down to poor umpiring (I hate having more than two umpires) and a worse appeal... but any wicket is a good wicket; doubly so for Lara.

The batsman rocked backwards and then as he rocked forward his foot came off the ground and I, already having my hand next to the stumps, whipped the bails off and appealed.......
