  • this is good; and lets keep repeating that so people don't get confused about it again.

  • can anyone tell me what the black thing is for? just for knowledge thanks :)

  • @mutothesic They're mutes. They dampen the sound.

  • @keondub. There's a reason for fliping the sticks it articulates the sound and makes it much more crisp vs. Hollow don't critisize when your ignorent to the situation it wasn't for show it was for sound

  • Im watchin`about 30 instruments for a school projekt, and i love music!

  • Distinto..

  • Dude! and my instructor said I should learn this after I get #5 Improvisations down!

  • a bit put off by your flipping off the sticks it was pretty bad when compared to your playing. However thought your playing was great and thats what counts good job

  • "Elliot Carter (b.1908) became seriously interested in music in high school and was [...] " omg "in high school" ? I guess I still have time o_o

  • always too restrained. dont play it like a robot, blast on it, with passion, you know you want to.

  • Awesome man!

  • I feel sorry for the neigbours! =P Just kidding! Amazing performance.

  • Did you get private lessons for timpani during HS?

  • A little rough at the end, but otherwise, not bad. now, might I suggest playing that piece standing up. I do it that way and it's worked for me. Just a suggestion.

  • pretty kewl

  • It was fine but watch your head to butt mallet changes

  • @gettavid You are obviously extremely ignorant and your comment isn't even worth more than a sentence.

  • What, exactly, is music?

  • take care with the tune, the B on the 29" is too low

  • i play timpani in high school and believe it or not im the only one that can fluently site read bass clef and tune the timpani by ear. Thats why i get picked for most of the pieces we play. But i wish i could play mallets on just one song :P.....anyway great performance..keep up the good work!!!!!

  • I'm no timpani expert but i love the exceution. Your playing has its own grace to it :)

  • that instrument is really epic

  • I'd never heard this piece before - very well performed and thank you!

  • Must have been quite a lot of fun playing. (yes, fun, i mean it !)

    :D

  • excellent performance + a bit of show = amazing result!

  • This is WELL rehearsed. good job.

  • Every person adds something differenct and I think you added excellence to this.

  • is this piece difficult? like i know it has to have some challenge but its it like really really hard?

  • This was great. I like how your rolls sounded great even with the back of the mallets.

  • Good job!

  • You do realize that "this guy" is the same guy whose channel this is, right? :)

  • @aingaran2003 well he switched the sticks well enough to play the piece more than very well... so.... you can't really say he sucks at switching stick sides

  • @aingaran2003 Right, so I'm guessing you're a timpani expert then?

  • @aingaran2003 dude, I actually think thats a chick just a butch one

  • @aingaran2003 If you search "timpani" on YouTube, this is the first video which pulls up. I don't think it's terrible.

  • Good job, but the B on the 29" is low

  • Not a great Carter piece. But for a man that who has written so much, I wouldn't let this steer you away from some of his amazing music.

  • Good stuff, I just recently discovered Elliot Carter while looking up metric modulation, his music is very interesting and unique.
