Dr. Eckener would have been so proud in seeing how his work accumulated into this machine that can maneuver with the dexterity of a helicopter. This ship is the future of the return of large, passenger airships.
Wonderful! I want the airships back. The blimps charmed me as a child in New Jersey in the mid-1950's. Now, I want to go to Europe on a safe, modern zeppelin in my retirement. How can I invest in NT? A zeppelin's lifting capacity is remarkable.
helium along with argon xenon krypton neon are increibly stable substances which happent to be gases. this is because they have full valences in the last energy level to keep them from exchanging electrons with other substances making them very unreactive. hydrogen is a gas but it has only one electron in the first enrgy level.
I would like to see something similar to the Hindenburg, ofcourse made with materials like this airship and without hydrogen but helium like the ship should have been filled with, It would certainly pose a threat to the cruise ship industry but it would be more economcially feasible
ups.... sorry dude.... well to answer your question: yes it used to be really really expensive... but its not anymore. sure its more expensive then hydrogen, but you can seperate helium from regular air.
Nice video of a superb airship. Airship Ventures are taking one to San Francisco, and we are working hard on getting one to the UK for flights over London! Watch this space... zeppelintours
Is it a Rigid Airship like it's predecessors? Those variable vector engines sure helps to cut down on the ground crew. Saw that you have ridden on board, must have been an interesting ride.
Technically it is of the Semi-Rigid type, however the structure is quite amazing and unique in that it departs from the regular semi-rigid type where there is only a keel, and then the balloon on top. The Zeppelin NT07 uses what I can only really describe as a triple keel with triangular re-enforcement and bracing(this is one reason why there are three fins, easier to attach to the ship)
I thought that was an airship with a rigid keel along it's length, but attached to a blimp envelope like the Norge?
This has a rigid internal structure throughout the envelope, to which the engines are attached, and the gondola... doesn't that count as a rigid, 'cos the structure fills the ship?
The hull still has to have a small amount of pressure to keep it's shape, but much less than that of blimps and other semi-rigids (I believe 5psi, but don't quote me on that.
I wish I lived in New York... And that they would still fly hundreds of airships throught the city:D

Dieses ist nicht wirklich ein Zeppelin. Es hat nicht Kabinen innerhalb der Haut wie des Graf Zeppelin hatte.

What does it run on? How's the mileage? Is helium expensive? How many HP does it take to run it? It would be perfect if there was an electric model.
smegingbastard 2 years ago
no helium is not explosive. thats the whole point of using helium.

I thought they didnt make zeppelins anymore
SwingBreaker89 2 years ago 3
@SwingBreaker89 They didnt but now they made this thanks to helium being used and not flammable hydrogen

quite loud. Shame they can't cover the top in solar panels and make it electric.

That was a perfect decent and landing. Hugo Eckener would've been proud of that Zeppelin pilot.

I believe that DLR in Germany did some surveillance and traffic control testing using the Zeppelin during the world cup.
