Wasn't this a meaningless game for the Cubs. Wonder if he could do this when they really needed it. No pressure, more relaxed. Just another thing Z needs to feed his ego.
@soxhawks96 hey bitchtits zambrano threw this no hitter in 08, which is BEFORE mark buerhle threw his perfect game. And its pretty safe to say that all the people watchin this video dont care about mark buerhle or you. Their here to remember the awesome day this was. And yes i agree big z has ALOT of anger problems, but why do you care so much about hatin on the cubs? Is it because your piece of shit baseball team is too boring for you that you have to go hatin on other teams? go cubbies!!!
ya im from Houston and I too had it bad from Hurricane Ike, and i had alot of friends that lost their homes...people are still struggling now a year later. so ya the astros really didnt have their minds on baseball at all.
I played x box during a thunderstorm one time and i threw a no hitter against my four year old brother and he congratulated me. He even lost his tricycle.GO CUBS GO!!! QUIT HATIN!
Now come on with the whole hurricane situation . Like those two Astros players had a big impact or something. It seems when the Cubs do something , everyone bitches or cheers. And now there are cheers from a place more than the Brewers do..But wait theres more hate.. What did the Cubs do now... What now? What did they do..
this is the Major leagues...disaster or not, all these hitters are here for a reason. It's honestly bogus to make up excuses for an excellant pitching performance. I know that many were concerned about their families but not all the players families live in houston or the surrounding area..so let's NOT make excuses and let's give Big Z some credit...geeze.
their families may have not lived their but their teamates/friends familes did...and people in chicago dont get hurricanes much less natural disasters...ok maybe a few snow flakes. but really, have some heart. there are no excuses i guess when someone you know loses everything right? i myself had over 3 feet of water in my home due to ike and the roof was gone. but ya no excuses...
i don't care what the astros said in the interview, it was obvious that their minds were focused on the safety of their families. This game should never of been played or played later on in the season
yeah; the majority of the Astros had family in houston during IKE. Also, Brandon Backe is from Galveston which had been destroyed, and has family there
saying that this was a fluke no hitter? man r u stupid or something? of course it was legit. hes a great pitcher. astros simply couldn't hit it that day.
man backrub and king ofkingz u r probably the stupidest ppl i have heard talking about baseball. did u ever graduate from elementary school?
dnt read this(cuz it really wrks). u will gt kissd on the nearest frieday by the love of ur life. 2mara wll b the bst day of ur life hwever if you dnt post ths comment 2 at least 3 vids u will die withn 2 days nw uv startd readn this dnt stp this is so scary snd ths ovr 2 5 vids in 143 mins
as a baseball fan you should be embarassed. Based on what was going on in houston, the players and their families dealing with a hurricane, you have to know their thoughts were somewhere else. Selig fucked up in moving these games and really even playing them. they should have been postponed till after the regular season and only played if a playoff was on the line, which it turned out it wasnt. I cant acknowledge this no hitter because of how it was achieved and what was happening in houston
To what u are saying why dont we cancel baseball itself...No dude i felt sorry for them but that doesnt meen that cant put there mind there to get one single and in their minds they could be playing for the victims of the hurricane..and unless one of the families died there doesnt meen there thinking about it.. they even said were going to forget about it and focus on baseball..
Are you kidding me? Two days after IKE destroyed Houston! My 6 yr old could have pitched a no hitter, oh yeah and how about that neutral field! "BIG Z" is a joke!!! Cry me a river big baby Z!!!
I remember watching LIVE the 9th inning of Milt Pappas' no-no in 1972. Then Chuck Rainey missed by 1 batter...Frank Castillo missed by 1 batter...I'm glad I lived to see the day that a Cubs pitcher has FINALLY done it after 36 years! And what almost happened the very next day......"back-to-back"!
i saw big z at el presidente with what looked too be family,im a huge cub fan and i could see that when he noticed me looking at him he sent messAGE with his eyes that said not today im pitching tomarrow not today, and i did not try for an autograph that is fine. i was thingking to my self that eating this food isnt the best meal before a playoff game and the next day carlos pitched like shit please dont eat at this place before a playoff game,i cant eat the pres.without the runs.
not much of a neutral site if you ask me. The 'stros kinda got boned in the ass on these games. Oh well Cubs sucked balls in the playoffs 100 years and counting!
no they didnt...they couldnt...the Hurricane hit on a friday and the astros had just played on a thursday then they played this game on i think saturday in Milwaukee
Oh my gosh I get that there was a hurricane and i feal bad for the people that it hurt ( I am going there on a mission trip this summer I will be going to High Island) but before the game there were interviews with players and they said they were going to Concentrate on this game so it was a no hitter.
McClane had everything to do with them ending up in Milwaukee! They had a chance to move the game to Arlington before the hurricane hit, but he chose to ride it out and see if things would clear up.
When one team gets no hits in a game, it is a no-hitter. Pretty basic math here genius...
no mcclane had nothing to do with it...this isnt the first game they moved to milwaukee...they moved the snowed out game to milwaukee btw LAA and CLE so that was Bud
and yeah it will be a no hitter in the record books, im not denying that
dude how can any no hitter be seperated with a GOOD no hitter and a BAD no hitter..There all good. and im guessing you think every pitch he threw was a fluke every single fucking pitch!! wtf is wrong with you... I mean does this sentence make any sence to your small little mind..(that no hitter was a bad no hitter).. dude wtf go back to pre-shool
how many times has zambrano EVER taken a no hitter past the 5th inning???
look at Jon Lester's no hitter, that was a good old classic regular season non-neutral area, no hurricane involved no-no
this was a fluke simply because it was 72 hours removed from the what may be the 2nd biggest disaster to the Gulf Coast ever...id really like to see you try to play after that...that would be my point, not that misconception you read
We were in section 235 and the last two innings had a world series feel. 23,441 fans standing but there were plenty of seats still available. I bet there are die hard Cub fans kicking themselves now that they didn't go.
Got plenty of pics, thanks. The thing I remember was that he had a strikeout in EVERY inning (10 total). Even though the game was a result of a bizarre circumstance, it still counts and it was still awesome. I think the Astros will be mad at us when we start the season in Houston next year! We actually open new Yankee Stadium next year (April 3rd & 4th), but they are only exhibition games.
thats funny...really funny...tiger woods has a better chance of getting hit by lightning during a sunny day than the cubs do of winning the world series
sinceramente, que grande zambrano!! gracias a ti chicago va comodo de primero, de verdad que hay que sentirse orgulloso porque ustedes representan este bello pais que se llama VENEZUELA... VIVAAAAAAAAAAA!!

drayton mcclane had nothing to do with where this game was played...it was all bud selig...this no hitter was a fluke
its really a shame that ppl look at this as a legitimate no hitter
if yall no hit the Astros, say. in June, we wouldnt be talking about this, but no it was after a hurricane
Backrub62 has a point...you cant look at it as a good no hitter
