  • 92 people got pulled under

  • The first time I heard this song was from a meytal video of her playing the drums to this song

  • the song that made me love dream theater, still remember the moment I first heard it.....

  • You could go to certain death and not flinch while listening to this!!!!

  • Heck, I remember buying this cd when cd's still came in the long rectangular box! (remember those?) I'm feeling old.

  • This song rocks! GH: World Tour was what brought me here and that's how I got to know this song too including the band themselves. I also have Dream Theater's "Panic Attack" from their 2005 album "Octavarium" as a playable song on RB2.

  • one of the best song in the world

  • The People That Dislike Just Doesn't Know What Good Music Is

  • this actually broke my writers block of six months O.O GLORY TO DREAM THEATER!!!

  • @MichaelsPortraits They have been the number one progressive metal band in the world for years now. They have to be doing something right.

  • If Dream Theater ever releases another compilation album sometime in the near future or something, I also hope it'll include both "Pull Me Under" and "Panic Attack" on it. That would be so great and that would be awesome if Dream Theater ever did that too. Dream Theater did release one compilation album already, but it didn't include "Panic Attack" though from the "Octavarium" album. It only included just "Pull Me Under" from "Images and Words" including some other songs from other albums.

  • @KenMeister1357 Can I ask why you want those two specific songs?

  • @Xenoforge78 Since those two songs are such awesome Dream Theater songs and since they're both my favorite songs already too, I just figured it probably would've been so great or something if both songs were ever together on one album on another compilation album by Dream Theater instead of having the two songs separated on different Dream Theater albums. Plus, I know those two songs too from the GH: World Tour and RB2 music video games since I have those songs as playable songs.

  • This song does sound great and all, but for some reason the intro to this song reminds me or makes me think of the guitar intro to Judas Priest's "Electric Eye." I don't know why, but for some reason it just does. Maybe they each both just have similar guitar intros almost and that's why they almost sound similar to each other, I guess. "Electric Eye" is another great song though too and I have Judas Priest's "Electric Eye" as a playable song on both GH Encore: Rocks the 80's and GH: Smash Hits.

  • Dream Theater is the best and my two most favorite songs by Dream Theater so far are both "Pull Me Under" from Dream Theater's 1992 album "Images and Words" and "Panic Attack" from their 2005 album "Octavarium." Those songs are the best and I have "Pull Me Under" on GH: World Tour and "Panic Attack" on RB2. That's how I know both songs and that was how I got into them too.

  • This song is the best and it's already one of my most favorite songs ever including one of my favorite songs by Dream Theater. It's so awesome and I also have this song as a playable song on the GH: World Tour music video game along with Dream Theater's "Panic Attack" on RB2. Both "Pull Me Under" and "Panic Attack" are my two favorite songs so far by Dream Theater and both songs are the best. This song here sounds really great too and I was only a year old back in 1992 when this song came out.

  • @KenMeister1357 dag same here thats what up then your the same age as me gotta check that panic attack out then

  • @rave123456v That sounds cool then and that sounds great that you're the same age as me too. When I found out that "Pull Me Under" was first released, I noticed that it first came out by the band back in 1992 and I was only a year old back then or almost a year old when the song and the album were released that year. I was still 13 back in 2005 when "Panic Attack" by Dream Theater was released including the "Octavarium" album and it was before my 14th birthday since I turned 14 later that year.

  • @rave123456v If you have the RB2 music video game for either PS3, PS2, Xbox 360 or Wii from the Rock Band video game series or if you've played RB2 before, you should or may be able to know "Panic Attack" by Dream Theater because that song appeared as a playable song on RB2. That's how I got to know "Panic Attack" because I have RB2 and I've played that song before on RB2. It is a great song though and Dream Theater rocks. I also have "Pull Me Under" by Dream Theater on GH: World Tour.

  • pull me under is my favorite song thanks for the song

  • Such a great song, a well versed band at the top of their game. I already have this cd and don't regret buying it.

  • I love the intro to this song.

  • constipated people playing the harp

  • Sounds like a toilet

  • @DrowningaDubstep The toilet of God.

  • some of u r ignorant individuals,this song rocks

  • like if you think @NHL12ForLife is retarded

  • this song is good, but there a shitload of better dream theater songs that are so much better that people need to listen to

  • you know what the most amazing thing about the song pull me under? its the great choice of notes the musicians decided to use for the keyboards in the introduction of the song and even all the way throughout the song...but mostly the intro stands out with flying colors. it keeps me coming back for more.

  • i like this song so much but i think sanctuary's singer should think of asking dream theater for permission to sing the song, either with dream theaters instruments playing for him or sanctuary's band playing their own instruments. if sanctuary won't do it, because of being too afraid of becoming more popular from someone elses idea, then metallica should do the asking...and the list of singers goes on and on and on.

  • Dream Theater, Avenged Sevenfold, and Matallica is all i needa say buy far the best

  • Amazing!

  • Don't feed the trolls!

  • they guys are shit hahaha singer sucks guitarist is average at best drummer sucks overall shitty band idk how ppl like em they suck dick listen to avenged seven fold

  • @NHL12ForLife I do listen to avenged seven fold, I like them and this band.

  • @NHL12ForLife wanna know who really sucks? your mother! amazingly too!

  • @NHL12ForLife did you really just say that ?? this is one of the most talented metal bands alive today! actually this drummer filled in for avenged sevenfold.... lol strange coicidence

  • @Creature931 actually, he only did that for a tour. avenged sevenfold have a different guy now. names' arenji or something weird like that.

  • @NHL12ForLife

Lol, you're a moron. Avenged Sevenfold? You have to be shitting me.

  • @Stevelord666 avenged sevenfold is pretty sweet. I used to be skeptical as well until a friend of mine explained some of their lyrics and the band members then I gained more respect for them

  • @NHL12ForLife You poor, misguided soul.

  • All you guys are a bunch of Morons like Jamie

  • Idgaf, This is their best album period. It has their best progressive elements along with the right amount of metal in it. Its just a beautiful masterpiece.

  • @MegaCrusher99 This and The Count of Tuscany really define Dream Theater to me.

  • @scotty688 me too! they a few of their best songs in my opinion, Wither is also a great song

  • THAT is metal

  • this disc is a "must have" for every progressive rock fan, or pretty much every single person who can appreciate good music!

  • i fuckin hate the high pitch voice.. soo fuckin yesterday.. fuckin love the music though.. i wish james out of the band and not Mike..

  • @shuszzam This "soo yesterday" thing is so gay, in the bad sense of the word...

  • @LazaroRosaFranco yea.. i actually gay

  • @shuszzam Yeah, I've got nothing against people being gay, but I find this "soo yesterday" thing quite anoying. That's what I meant before.

  • Is there any band that is technical better than Dream Theater? They are amazing and always will be. DT has true fans that doesn't complain and nag about Mike Portnoy coming back, which I see a lot of on other bands.

  • @jackinho333 one word..MESHUGGAH

  • @jackinho333 It's sad about Portnoy, but obviously if the band chose someone, they chose the right someone. Mangini is a good replacement!

  • used to pick this song last everytime for my quickplay list on gh world tour :} fuckin rock this shit out on drums!!!! love this song

  • @lildan355 this song is on world tour!? D:

  • expert gh world tour love it my fave one of them

  • i play bass on this very hard and another great fuckin awsome band

  • dat snare

  • why does it end so abruptly¿?

  • @nahuel2702 from what i know, the song's based on the story of hamlet, n basically he kills himself i think, so the idea behind the abrupt ending is to represent just how suddenly life can end, that's what i think anyways:L

  • @nahuel2702

Because it tries to represent how the dead cut everything in an abrupt and easy way...

  • @nahuel2702 because there's another song right after it

  • @nahuel2702 Its a Beatles thing...the Beatles did that in a song and now everyone thinks it is cool to abruptly end songs...

  • This song is a better love story then Twilight

  • @CliffordWPT Me taking a dump is a better love story then twilight :L... but your right, this song is great. :L

  • @CliffordWPT because twilight sucks maybe?

  • I used to listen to this while falling asleep and the way it ended so abruptly always startled me.

  • I know Im going to get attacked for this, but I think Dream Theater transcends more popular bands like Metallica. Dream Theater is still making great music and thats what makes them such a great band. The passion they have for their music is unbeatable, and thats why I think they're the essential band.

  • another fucking metal masterpiece

  • @TSDEUK446 Don't feed the troll.

  • @TSDEUK446 dude that is so not a very metal thing to say. This dreadful treachery is boundless and unforgivable.

  • This is pretty much the song that made them famous, deservedly so.

  • 3:05 to 3:22 sounds so fucking good.

  • Truly a piece of art

  • Major headbanging at 1:30

  • @TheAnkurj the riff begins at 1:24.

  • Dream Theater Should be rated up there the great Led Zepplin EXCELLENT rythm and Voice i first heard Drean Theater 13 Years ago As the Late Legendary Ronnie James DIO said Long Live ROCK N ROLL LET IT LIVE LET IT LIVE!

  • Happy new year Metal heads !

  • @dragosh3003 Happy New Year too Bah

  • This always reminds me of Queensryche.

  • this song is as old as i am and it still fucking ROCKS

  • I'm glad i got this album so i can hear this song

  • So sad I had to play Guitar Hero to discover this...

  • @Psycop4t Well, at least you appreciate real music :)

  • @Psycop4t same here. i played GH when i was 12. now im 14 and i own all their albums

  • @Psycop4t I know that feel bro

  • You've been trolled. Have a nice day!

  • @resdsox1 because he rocks :D

  • my sister brought me to Dream Theater...since then,i love her more than anyone else, except Dream Theater:)

  • Just a parody of all the comments on every music video on YouTube ever: "I'm comparing Bach to video games. They're totally the same thing and can be compared on even grounds"

  • I won't buy the album. I will buy this song. ;D

  • i love this song WITH A PASSION. this is one of THE BEST ever. the music just entrances me. the guitar, the drums, singer's vocals. AWESOMELY AMAZING!

  • check out the lakeridge legends they are even better than dream theater

  • One of the only bands that can wipe the floor with metal giants like Metallica

  • @BloodHarvest21

Yeah, because their influence obviously doesn't stem from Metallica. :P

  • @BloodHarvest21 I can wipe the floor with Metallica. Not saying I don't like them

  • @CaelanMT it shit..you mother fucker!!!

  • @BIOPROGRA you dont know where is your ass..you talking abought a Metallica!!!

  • @BloodHarvest21 Even without a huge mainstream title and following

  • I was reading Hamlet. At the second scene's soliloquy by Hamlet, I had to stop and listen to this!

  • I am reminded of early Metallica

  • @Tyboleen not even

  • @imakazero K.

  • What genre is dream theater?

  • @Keiplade Progressive Metal technically.

  • @guitarhero2152 thanks

  • @Keiplade progressive metal lol

  • @Keiplade smooth jazz

  • @oichoooo

    lol

  • @Keiplade In these times they were a progressive metal/rock mix.

Now I just call them progressive rock because so many shitty bands are killing what was once known as progressive metal today.

  • Accept that they're musical artists with the goal of making music they enjoy making. You don't necessarily have to sit and listen to them to respect their artistry. Recognizing artists as artists should be the very least thing you do. I, for one, don't listen to Justin but I recognize he has a fantastic singing voice.

  • It just suck that you guys are confined to things like genres. Music is, and always will be, music. To put a name to a bunch of songs/artists/bands is like putting them into a gulag of confinement. It should be appreciated as is: as music. The problem arises when people think they've the authority to say what one should and shouldn't listen to.

  • i've seen too many comments involving metalcore. metalcore is not a real type of music. it is a term kids made up because theyre fucking stupid and dont know how music is created and works

  • LoL james at the start rsrs

  • Go to uhort.no/artist/umpfel/sang/46690 ANY OPINIONS? :D

  • a7x?....man FUCK a7x

  • For Christmas I want people to smash Beiber and Kesha albums and listen to metal. Doesn't matter if you're prog, death, metalcore, etc. just praise the metal and eradicate the pop music slime. (Polka music would kick ass too)

  • @theg0lden1 Metalcore is the justin beaver of the metal community, which makes you a fag

  • @FirePower3006 whats wrong with metalcore??

  • @FirePower3006 You lose points for the following:

    1. Bringing Justin Bieber up on a metal video, which is a horrid conflict of content.

    2. Comparing Justin Bieber, renowned for appealing only to the demographic of insane 13 year old girls to anything related to metal, which is renowned for scaring most 13 year old girls to death.

    3. Expanding Bieber's popularity. People would forget about him a lot quicker if you'd stop bringing him up.

Most of all, 4. using fag as an insult.

  • @FirePower3006 You've been trolled. Have a nice day!

  • @theg0lden1 you realise "Pop" stands for popular music... now if we smashed our "Pop" records and all started listening to metal, then metal would become pop.

see how you contradicted yourself there? =]

  • @Talyn10126822 even if we did do that, i would keep calling metal, well, 'Metal'. because that is how it started. Forever Love It Loud!

  • @Talyn10126822 You've been trolled. Have a nice day!

  • @theg0lden1 damn those trolls!

  • @theg0lden1 Pop music isn't inherently bad, and metal isn't inherently good. Both genres can suck, and both can be awesome. The Beatles, AKA the bloodline of most modern rock, started out pop. Adele is pop. In the same way, Limp Bizkit (One of the worst bands to ever exist.) is considered nu metal and rap metal, which, naysayers aside, counts as a form of metal. There is no inherently good or bad genre, just good or bad artists that make up that genre.

  • Great song. However, does anyone else feels the live versions of the IaW songs used to sound much better? This song for example is quite enegetic and heavy while LaBrie sounds restrained and sings clear. I didn't really got interested in Dream Theater until I've heard the Live in Tokyo version of this song.

  • Amazing tune, just hate the drum sound. Sounds fake, other than that i love these guys.

  • @bassmanjoe Na man , sounds 80's to me, I love the 80's :P

  • @pcquip I hear you, i love most of the 80's. Early 80's i love, not so much late 80's. But i still hate the drum sound. Just don't like the way the snare drum sounds, his sound on later albums are much better.

  • Intredasting...

  • guys does anyone know from which cd has the track been taken? I mean, is it from a remastered version of the "Images and Words", a remastered version from the Greatest Hits or sth?

  • Fucking Epic

  • My friend sent me here to listen to them..

    And I think I'll be staying for a while:3

  • @spellboundsacrifice listen to A Nightmare To Remember :)

  • @MXOY99 Ok :3 will do :)

  • @spellboundsacrifice It's never too late to discover and explore bands like Dream Theater.

  • Fuckin' Bliss!! <3

[Note: I have never used the F-word before to describe any music but this music made my vocab go out of the window]

  • and no im not goin to listen to this song again because its a waste of bandwidth after seeing WOW getting installed on my pc when it is FORBIDDEN to be on my computer, venting done!!

    how is everyones day? :)

  • @MrMrEvin Mine is quite swell. Thank you for asking.

  • ill add another two cents, my ex loved A7X so i listened to them quite a bit, there good, so is dreamtheater, there good too, different styles, but i still prefer opeth over these two bands everyone is arguing about, so stop arguing over music, when everyone has there OWN preference of what music they like :)

  • A7X is far from DREAM THEATER! in terms of talent and everything . . .

  • A7X and BFMV are more successful and have more talented lead guitarists.

  • @HawlYouEdits You sir, have no idea of music.

  • @Sniper4TheHORDE Clearly do but.

  • @HawlYouEdits I like A7X too, but I think Dream Theater is better.

  • @Sniper4TheHORDE Dream Theater is only known cos' of Guitar Hero, settle.

  • @HawlYouEdits you are a fucking tool. first of all, talented in what way? everybody has a preferred and individual style. second; your own perception of music does not apply to the entire world. don't insult these clearly EXTREMELY talented artists by comparing them to generic 80's inspired nu-metal bands. while they have talent, they have nowhere near the level of passion that you feel through a Dream Theatre song .. jusst my 2c

  • @MrMrEvin Mate, it's Youtube... Calm down. <3

  • @HawlYouEdits wtf?? FFS im getting sick of my fucking flatmate using my fucking account to vent his fucking anger out on youtube at my fucking expence, im getting sick of waking up with fucking hate mail all over my email account, if he wants to fucking troll and mock people he should make his out fucking account, oh wait! hes too fucking paranoid, so yes im sorry for that reply it wasnt my account it was my fucking anger filled depressing flat mate, and i dont like either band, theres my 2c

  • @HawlYouEdits

Avenged Sevenfold fuckn rocks. I know every single song by them. I donot think they are to be compared with DT. DT is a great Prog band, but A7X is still my favorite band of all time after Guns N Roses.

Although, who knows? I may change my mind, I've only been listening to DT for 5 days now.

  • @HawlYouEdits It's funny because they don't

  • @HawlYouEdits Wow. You obviously do not play guitar.

  • @NinjaMoose234 I play guitar, drums and piano. I stick to symphony's, though. Not this bollocks.

  • @HawlYouEdits Alright that explains alot. But in all honesty, this bands guitarist would poop all over Zack Wyld. (I think thats how his name is spelled:P)

  • @NinjaMoose234 Zakk Wylde

  • @DeathMetalSavior Thank you.

  • @NinjaMoose234 Anytime, bro.

  • @HawlYouEdits you mean A7X and BFMV have more dumbed down and generic musical ideas so they appeal to more people, and i would love to see them try to play john petrucci's material, maybe synister gates would be able to pull it off though, as he actually is talented. dont even get me started on BFMV though :D

  • @joe15rock no way gates could play that! it's one thing to sweep and do fast scale runs, it a completely different level to alternate pick arpeggios at sweep speed and make those sick string skippings. the glass prison arpeggio for exemple are absolute right-hand killers. to sweep them is quite easy, but when it comes to alternate you die at them!

  • @givemeajackson i think he has a good enough grasp on theory and music to be able to try at least. I am a guitarist so i know how hard some of this is, i can play some of johns solo's even, but i also know that whilst i dont like his music, synyster gates is still a good player. Still, no one can even come close to the sheer skill AND the ability to write magnificent music that petrucci and the rest of dream theater has, especially not BFMV!

  • @joe15rock i dont say that cause i dont like gates (i dont), i say that cause all that i heard of his playing was sweeping and scale up and down. nothing against that, my playing is pretty much the same at the moment, but i think that he couldnt technically play the really hard shit of petrucci. his hard parts arent especially fast, but they are very uncomfortable to play. no theory can help you if you have a picked arpegio followed by string skipping. erotomania has such a part for exemple.

  • @HawlYouEdits I like A7X more then Dream theater

But i wouldn't say A7X is more successful

  • @bloodmush123 How can you guys compare a shitty metalcore to prog?

  • Dream Theater + Queensryche = Ecstasy
