  • The Reboot was like watching a train wreck into a bus full of school children, which subsequently explodes, launching debris into pet shop full of cute animals.

  • @veradinx LOL! Funny veradinx, really, really funy! Elliott

  • Star Trek For Simpletons! That would be a good name for the loser fans who like the new movie. Simpletons. lol

  • @sallyjosie So...you didn't like it, huh? I wasn't clear on how you felt about the Star Trek reboot and its fans. :P Elliott

  • movie script that looked like it came straight out of Star Wars! Only a complete half-wit would have written such a crappy script like that and only complete fools would enjoy it. Fools who have never seen or understood the original series because it actually required people to think and the fools who like the new crap don't like to use their brains. Probably hurts too much. And the fact that several of the actors are good-looking also played a huge role in its success. Yeah, I'll pass on....

  • abrams azz. Re-boots are cowardly and they show a lack of talent and imagination. Any loser can reboot a franchise and then make up a bunch of crap to suit their own twisted ideas. Abrams was NOT a star trek fan and that ALONE should have disqualified him from writing for the franschise but the beavis and buttheads at paramount only care about money. And who the hell found the movie as "fun and entertaining?" as some well-paid movie critics claimed. What the hell is so fun about an ultra-cliched

  • I did not buy it on DVD... though I have every DVD of REAL Star Trek.

  • NO I will not waste my money on such a shallow movie in spite of what you guys may think. Just because you will don't presume to judge what other people will do. I in fact have not wasted a dime to see this movie or Nemesis because I was able to see them for free. And I still felt like I "spent too much" on those movies.

  • @friedasmith You tell them Frieda. Man I can't believe how easily impressed some people are with pure crap. Now other studios are planning on taking that losers abrams cowardly and dishonorable idea of "re-booting" several movie franchises. Only complete imbeciles would go that route! Star Trek did not need to do that! In fact it would have been better if they hadn't. I hope someone writes some brillant new stories for the other Star Trek shows and completely ignores the crap that fell out of

  • I didn't care for the new movie because it was badly written by person's who were obviously not star trek fans therefore they lacked the understanding that star trek was more then just a bunch of people on a spaceship as one person has pointed out elsewhere. And I agree. Too many people have a one-dimensinal view of the classic star trek when it is in fact a three dimensinal show, well, most of the time. And I do agree, sometimes STNG crew did have a holier then thou attitude that was annoying.

  • Nero was a one-dimensional villain without any personality whatsoever. Eric Bana played him as blandly as you possibly could. He didn't have a single memorable line. I will leave aside the notable continuity flaws like Kirk knowing how to drive a car, but Spock being the guy who created the Kobayashi Maru test was as likely as Vader creating C3P0. Everything in this movie was done to make the little fanboys go ooh and aah but the movie had little substance.

  • I have the same opinion that you do on star trek that I did on bloodrayne and x-men origins..

  • Spirit? This movie entirely lacked any of the spirit of the original series! It was a "very ill conceived sci-fi film" that simply contained elements of Star Trek.

    That's where the similarities end.

Star Trek XI was just a bad movie!

  • Damn Elliot 42 I thought you were at in 33 you look young man.

  • SPOILER!!!!DO NOT READ ON the new trek has big plot holes, if nero was there for 25 years with an advanced ship, why not go to romulus and give them the technology? If vulcan was destroyed the the science academy could'nt fit spoks ship with red matter in the future, and spock would not be in the past. Two spoks in the past? How would spok avoid telling secrets about future technologies and events? He would cause a temporal doomsday. Didnt engineering look like a steam ship interrior?

  • There are only a few episodes of the original series I liked (Trouble w/ Tribbles and Doomsday Machine).

I really liked DS9 and Voyager was also great (it had a strong female captain which I'm sure you guys would appriciate) and I think i was one of the only people who liked Enterprise (hated the opening theme)

TNG bugs me though. Some of the episodes I really like, but the crew has this holier-than-thou attitude that pisses me off sometime.

  • Nero was more developed in teh comic but still kind of an unbeleavable character. you dont blame the galaxy for a natural disaster

  • I heard that Nero was far more developed in the prequel comics to the movie. Which were apparently good.

I worry that I am lumped in with Bendis fans for my observations of your preferences in storytelling and theme. Like how much deviance you'd accept

  • good show, good points of view on this one that are all spot on

  • i kept wondering why the romulans had tatoos on their faces then after movie was over it hit me otherwise they would have absolutely no personality at all

but this movie wasnt about the villians it was about the cast/crew and they did a great job

  • Jose's correct. Star Trek needed a reboot. Voyager and Enterprise seriously hurt the franchise for even moderate Star Trek fans like myself. I feel Die hard older trekies are furious with anything new but If I remember I didn't hear any of their complaining with the Star Trek NG series and movies. Also, Star trek has always had so many time anomalies until really anything is possible in this franchise so why complain about the current movie's alternatre reality. Elliot's right-can't please all.

  • Jose did U read any Clamp Manga? they are my favorite Manga team.

A by the way Elliott, if you want to know how manga being writing there is an amazing manga called Bakuman, it is drawing and writing by the team that did DEATH NOTE! and it is about to kids that starting to write Manga together. it tell exactly what are the steps in writing a Manga and the steps in which manga is being chosen to by an ongoing series.

and if you thing in Gantz there are alot of boobs read Air Gear.

  • If U want to look in Bakuman go to the site OneManga dote com and search it there.

  • Jose put it best about start trek.

This movis is what the franchise needed.

PLus on its own its a pretty damn good film. It is what the SW prequels shouljd have been-- Epic and FUN.

(SITH was great tho ;) )

Any trekkie who prefers Voyager or Enterprise to this movie is a hopless geek loozer.

  • I like Voyager. :-(

  • Ha ha...loozer!

    J.

  • :*(

  • 42???? man Elliot you look at least 30. good fer you man. Not that 42 is old (35 here).

    Miss the store counter setting.

  • Wacthmen wasn't as accesible? What do you mean? It fucking had Malin Akerman in yellow latex on the posters! If people go see Wolverine just to see Hugh Jackman pop his claws, there is no reason why Watchmen shouldn't sell as many tickets...well except the rating (though I had crying infants and rampant four-year olds in my theater when I saw Watchmen if that tells you anything.)

  • I had a three year old in Wolverine who thought every somewhat quiet moment should have been filled with him shouting for this mother two feet away...

  • Maybe when this new franchise starts lagging however many movies down the line, they can do some kind of "awesome" crossover between this new universe and the original Star Trek universe in a desperate bid for the last dregs of money they can possibly squeeze from Star Trek's corpse.

  • Star Trek hate I don't get it, J.J. Abrams just saved that ailing old bird.

Plus all previous Trek happened, they reboot with rebooting

  • i haven't seen wolverine and i'm not planning to see it, movie theatre, dvd or even streaming it. trust me. my dvd collection consists of castle freak, ninja scroll and killer klowns from outer space (and 2 of those were gifts)

  • I still refuse to EVER view this movie as well. I've heard enough people say that X3 was better that I've been scared shitless to even view a pirated version. Plus the whole Deadpool thing is enough to keep me far, far away from this film. Still have yet to see Star Trek, looks like a decent movie and I have almost no previous knowledge going into it so that might be a good thing.

  • Happy Memorial Day fellas

  • i think most people have too much money and not enough venues/ventures.

  • Make sure to remember the fallen soldiers who died defending the Federation from the Borg at the Battle of Wolf 359 this Memorial Day.

  • Elliot, you're 42? I thought you were in your early to mid 30's.

  • I would have sworn he was 30 if not 28/29

    Maybe it's his cheruby face

  • Cheruby?

  • Cherub

Baby with wings, Venus goddess of love yada..bow & arrow.

    He has a baby face

  • You mean chubby, don't cha? Say it. I've got a chubby face.

Good god, don't picture me with wings and wearing a diaper, fer goodness sake!

    ;-)

    Elliott

  • So I think this begs the wonderful question that as comic book fans do we want to see our favorite comics turned into movies if we know that much of the plot, characters, and substance might be changed to grab a larger audience?

  • we want full length featues of such clips of "The IronMan Spider-man Hulk & robots" marvel mini movies. And awesoem movie length episodes of Marvel Ultimate Alliance 1! - cut scenes.

    fuck this hollywood bullshit !

  • Must be a fan of the Mortal Kombat flicks?

  • I don't mind superficial changes like costuming or if a actor doesn't look exactly like the comic version as long as the core idea is intact ya don't make Batman caped teenager with a gun, ya don't have Spidey looking like a Emo swinger etc..

  • Yeah, I guess the point is how much can they change? For instance, if Weapon Plus is an American organization does it still work the same? Agent Zero as a completely different sort of person? Deadpool using katanas primarily?

  • I think Weapon Plus being American in origin works if only because in the comics American govt had a roll in the program it was a joint venture in the comics (US/CAN) but the Agent Zero thing is a perfect exp of going too far.

  • I made those comments about Star Trek and I stand by them. I didn't hate the movie but the alternate reality thing was just completely unnecessary. The original Star Trek was pretty much the first adult tv series I ever watched.

When Dark Horse relaunched Conan they didn't junk the previous continuity, they just slotted it into the existing continuity.

  • lol..i had to check this one first on the net and i was glad i did.

the E.R. type Control room, the shaky camera action scenes, and the first 10 minutes had a *cry cry* child labour scene.. i didnt really need to see any more - and another time travel strory line ehhh.

I am not a trekkie but i do enjoy the adventures of kirk and the philosophising of pikard. lolz.
