  • While I love Hedges my cavil with him is that he describes the problem beautifully, but he is short on solutions and proposals for a new paradigm. We know what we fight against, but what do we fight for?

  • He's a pacifist and is asking for peaceful civil disobedience but if that hasn't worked in the past why should that work now? If we are to overthrow the system because it cannot be fixed which is why its pointless to expect politicians and legislators to respond it cannot be done peacefully. I am not sure what it is he is expecting to happen by the disruption if it didn't work in the past with the Wobblies. If anyone knows the answer to this please reply.

  • Here is what i don't understand about his pov. He says that its important we go out on the streets and resist, rebel. I get that. But then he says its wrong to ask OWS to address legislators and politicians with a list of demands because "they understand the system". Well if this is the case what is to come from the protests? What's the point of rebelling if its not to ask for change in the system?
