The reason she did not win is that this is a range song, and she doesn't have the range. You notice that she starts in a key which is just a tad low for her voice (so she can hit the higher notes later in the song). Most of the "personalizations" of the song are removing the high notes. And the high notes she does hit, requires "tricks" so that she can hit them (and goes a little flat on them).

If she had picked a song more suited to her voice, she might have won.
