This story is quite amazing. There are many stories of rescues where being immersed in cold water can save drowning victims lives. There is another such story that I know of in this series

i went tubing and the same thing happened but i got out just in time i was trapped in the currented and my tube flipped i had 1 foot holding me up and the water splashing my face and it kept pulling me backwards so i couldnt control but i was scared but wasnt scared just to swim with the current with a branch on my foot so i went to the end and we got it off

I did tubing at one time at a lake in Massachusetts while we we're on a boat trip and it was pretty fun. I kind of overextended my hip right down and it hurts.

well the average human being can only withstand the time length of an hour or half being submerged or under water because if it was even a little longer then that time, the the victim would be definetly be unresponsive or unconscious.so if im wrong please tell me and ill do some research.but if your lucky the victim will probally sourvive with some minor injuries like slight head trauma or brain damage if longer then that aprosomit time.hope i helped!

I think 25 years would be too long. :) 25 minutes on the other hand in cold water sometimes isn't too long.. luckily that was the case here.

I've gone tubing before, it's not that dangerous. I guess it depends on where you do it, though. I think he would have been fine if he had not tied the ice chest around his ankle.

Holy talk about a miracle. The brain dies after 4 to 6 minutes. He is way lucky to not have brain damage. He is lucky to be alive. The cold water definately helped.

This is just an idea....but maybe with his core body temperature so low, it slowed his heart rate and his body didn't use up what little oxygen he had in his blood as fast. Just a guess...I'm not a doctor or anything.

I live near there, in Oroville. The Sac river is really bad every yr people die there, its horrible. Despite the fact people know better they fail to listen, so sad :( Glad this kid lived tough. But what he did by tying that rope around his leg was really dumb, I bet he wont do that again.

that woman is a fucking idiot. she only made matters worse! before she came, he could still lift his head above the water(which is most important) but when she came she lifted his leg up, thus putting his waist and head under water, and then like a jerk off she falls off and drifts down stream. it was her fault he started drowning!! had that bitch never came, the kid would have been able to keep his head abovewater . wut a screw up!

I understant that this might be hard for you, but try to use you brain for a second. Someone is underwater, and you're on a branch. You can't get in the water to get them or you'll be swept away. The only part of their body you can reach is their leg. What are you supposed to do, sit there and stare at them while they die?
