It's amazing how slanted the ref was toward Foreman, he took a point away and warned him numerous times yet Young was allowed to hold and punch and tie Foreman up through the whole fight and was whining thoughout the first 4 rounds. And the kicker was Young hit Foreman with 3 punches off of a break and the ref did NOTHING. What the hell man. I'd be pissed unless Foreman's corner was given a hefty sum to throw the fight. It is a dirty game.
In any case it is obvious George wasn't taking this seriously at all, he is doing things like walking over to Young's corner before the bell sounded, usually people who are too tired to even throw a punch don't keep their sense of humor going when they know they are about to lose a fight, I really think George already knew this was going to be his last fight.
@WVDave26 So him pretty much not throwing a single punch for the first 4 rounds when he could have mowed him down in 2 seconds is everything he could do? He went through Ali like butter man I doubt he was scared of being hit by Young.
@WVDave26 Instead of trying to punch him he just tied him up so he could flagrantly foul him by pushing his face, ramming him into the ropes all while never punching? If you think that is everything Foreman could do you must be mental.
@WVDave26 I mean can you imagine if Foreman pushed Ali away in the face like that? He had no respect or fear of Young but spent half the match just following him around the ring with his gloves in front of his face for no reason.
@WVDave26 When hhe has him pinned to the side rope does he start throwing bombs to the stomach like he always does? No, he either kind of halfway throws his gloves at him or hits him a couple of times and then steps back from him. Since when doess Foreman back off of people?
@WVDave26 Also why in the later rounds when he says he is exausted is he pacing in his corner? That would be about the time you would probably want to have a rest and listen to your corner if there ever was a time. If this was a real fight Foreman must have just lost his mind.
I've got money Foreman already planned to quit boxing to become a pastor and used this and the conversion story after to do it. Young was a fairly nice guy I don't see why he would have needed to go so far over the top with the fouling and hardly throwing punches, never put any real effort into fighting at all. Even when he had him on the ropes he would pull punches or throw a couple of good ones and step back. Also if he is exausted why is he pacing in his corner after every round?
I don't understand this at all, it's like Foreman was trying to lose. He is just dancing around and swatting at him most of the fight and just let 100 chances to unleash go by to clobber him, he lost this on attitude aone.
Foreman fought like a dirty SOB in those early rounds but that's who he was (or thought he was): arrogant, egotistical, bully etc..It took this loss (Gil Clancey said he was robbed) and the following near-death experience in the dressing room, and subsequent religious awakening to make Goerge realize this: Nothing is more important than friends and family, life. Not houses, cars, sex, fame..Halleluiah !!

@123456789024814 The answer is very simple. George Foreman's would be all worn out after 7 rounds max. He would be all punched out. Ali proved that in the Rumble in the Jungle. If he didn't have you beaten by then, he was done.
Listening to Cosell call these classic heavyweight bouts of the 70's is often times just as enjoyable as the fights themselves .... his work on this night was, even for him, simply outstanding
I agree with Foreman that he was ripped off in this fight. While kudos go to Young for fighting an Ali-like fight, he didn't score anywhere near as consistently as Ali. I have Foreman winning 1,2,4,5,7,9 and 10, and Young 6,8,11 and 12, with 3 being a draw. Scored on a 10-point-must system, I have Foreman winning 10-8 in round 7, despite Young's amazing comeback at the end, and Young winning 11 and 12 by 10-8. So George would win 114-112. George should have been busier to impress the judges.
@musiclover59 I have no idea what Foreman did to make someone give him the 1rst, 2nd or 9th rounds. His missing in the 9th round actually made me feel sorry for him, because he couldn't land a single solid blow that was remotely clean.
@Myndir In R1, Young didn't land a single blow whereas Foreman landed at least 5 and pressed the action. In R2, Young became busier but again Foreman landed at least 5 more clean blows than him and pressed the action. R9 was quite close but I still have Foreman scoring at least 2 more clean blows than Young and again he pressed the action. Neither fighter landed any devastating blows in that round.
@1976GGus1 Your not a educated man, because people that are educated and have common sense dont say the things you say. You sound like a High school drop out thats close minded and bitter to the world. "Hands Registered with the FBI"? What are you talking about? MMA is a sport like Boxing, Baseball, and Football. Alot of men bring there sons in because its safe and fun. The fact you would think young boys would go around picking fights shows how stupid you are. Its a Family Business we all clean
@1976GGus1 One other thing when ever someone explains in detail were they went to school and work as a reply 9 out of 10 there lying. The fact is anyone with half the brain of a dinosaur will tell you race has nothing to do with how smart you. Statistics show Asians receive more master degrees then whites. Does that mean most of my Asians friends are smart then me? Hell no. Statistics show that 97% of white men are Serial killers. Does that men we are more violent? You are not educated. No way.
@1976GGus1 Have you seen my video? I run a MMA gym with my brother in San Jose California. I'm a part time trainer at Frank Shamrock Martial Art Academy in San Jose. My wife is the accountant at my gym and my sons 6 and 9 clean the gym when the guys are done working out. I graduated at San Jose state in 1998 in sports management. If you did have a degree you would know scientifically speaking that one race is not smarter then the other. Genetics tell you how smart you are. I guess Obama an idiot
@1976GGus1 And your the typical idiot. What you said makes no sense. Its people like you who give the white race a bad name. 100% Irish and proud of it....I hope your not white...but if you are you must be from the south.
makes me nervous see that shit crowd against foreman, and see young fight like a pussy.....he clinch him every fucking time to makes him tired and frustrated......only ali' defeat foreman
I think Waldemaar Schmidt, the referee, could simultaneously beat both these guys. I think in this fight both fighters had to be leery of that famous Schmidt overhand right that could have done heavy damage. It is a testament to Schmidt's integrity that he did not try to knock out either fighter, but just stuck with reffing the fight.
Proof foreman was past it here watch norton vs foreman if foreman cant hit anyone fighting on the outside watch it kenny norton(great fighter) better movement than young, tires to outbox foreman but gets ko'ed. After Zaire foreman changed his style to less agressive more countering which is why young kicked his behind
some people forget how much ali would break every " GREAT" fighter, which the 70's were all unreal lean 15 round fighters 2 apart from foreman who was a beast " and i don't think tyson could take them out , anyway they forget ali came back from 3 1/2 years off to beat all these great fighters and done with style , heart , technique and sheer uniqueness , every style he beat or if he did get beat he would win a rematch .. he was superior to anyone in this world , still is !! HERO .. simple !
Pre-Ali Foreman would NEVER allow Young to stumble to the other side of the ring in order to regroup after tagging the latter with a ferocious straight left (jab my ass, I know a straight when I see one-lol) followed up by a monster uppercut that drove him onto the ropes in that pivotal 7th round. The moment Young was off-balance in his mad scramble to gather himself at 20:36, George could've easily finished him off with one of his patented wrecking ball overhand rights. Blown opportunity there.
Rocky Marciano was a great fighter in his time, but I don't think he's last two rounds against Foreman. He only weighed 184 pounds. He was a good puncher but he would have been totally overpowered. The discussion below about the power Marciano generated is ridiculous. Sure he was good. Of course he leaned in. He wasn't a great technician. He had no better way than Frazier of avoiding Foreman's punches. Ali didn't have power? This is all crazy...
i remember seeing this fight when i was 14, it was on a friday or saturday night on abc, watching it with my mom and my brother who was home from college for the weekend. the crowd chanting "jeemy young! jeemy young!" and howard coselle announcing "jimmy young is doing his thing!" young, foreman, shavers, holmes, norton, ali, frazier............good times
@FIGHTFANNERD3 George is slow and out of shape, much the way Joe showed up for their fight in Jamaica. Joe against Ali in '71 was unstoppable, this George would not have been able to win, he's got nothing here in this fight, NOTHING.
@combatesdeboxeo You say as if you know, you don't. Joe on his best night would give George fits and would beat this version of George. We never saw a Joe at his best vs Foreman, both fights, Joe was far from his best. That is "telling it like it is".
george foreman would smash every version of joe frazier, you can use your imagination all you want, frazier himself said that he would not have been capable to beat a prime foreman, not even in his peak in 1970-71, at last frazier 73 was substantially heavier, he weighed 214 pounds and he weighed 205 in his peak, and foreman did push him back like a kid, imagine how easy he would handle a 205 pounder. styles make fights, foreman was too big, too strong and too powerfull for joe. take that
@combatesdeboxeo Joe at 205 was much quicker than he was vs Foreman I and II...did you read my original post? It says "If this Foreman fought Joe Frazier of the night of the 1st Ali fight, George gets KO'd" Understand? It means if this George had to fight the Frazier of Ali I...Frazier wins, understand? Hard to argue with someone who can't read.
@combatesdeboxeo Frazier didn't have the punch to get Foreman's respect, and he came head first when he was young, which made for a difficult fight against Foreman, considering he could be hurt, but couldn't hurt.
Foreman is a lousy fighter, but I'd still pick him over Frazier. For all his flaws, his strength was too much for Frazier.
this " lousy" fighter would destroy atg like , marciano, dempsey, frazier, jack jonhson, holyfield, mike tyson, liston, lewis, maybe even joe louis etc... a prime undefeated and focused george foreman in 1973 would ko anyone except ali and a a peak larry holmes in his best night. maybe he was not the best technical fighter but he had a brute strength and a brutal hitting power, not many guys could handle that. and this " lousy" fighter would shit on your face so shows a bit of respect
@combatesdeboxeo LOL. Are you his kid or his butt buddy? I like George Foreman as a man, but as a fighter, he sucked. He'd get killed by Marciano, Lewis, Liston, Holyfield and probably Louis. He got destroyed by the "great" Jimmy Young. He got knocked down and nearly lost to the "great" Ron Lyle.
He had heavy hands, that was it. He didn't even have one punch power, since he'd have to hit a guy several times to even knock him down. He was lucky Frazier didn't have a huge punch.
@TA152H01 honestly, i will not spend my time talking with a simpleton infantile like you, obviously you are a kid, and you know absolutely nothing about boxing.
@combatesdeboxeo But you just did. Don't you realize how dumb your remark is? I didn't think so.
After watching this fight, against a mediocre fighter, you should know Foreman wasn't much. He got completely embarrassed and completely outclassed by Ali, to the point he looked like he never fought a round in his life. He was that bad. But, that was Ali. This guy is just Jimmy Young, and he makes Foreman look horrible.
There's more to boxing than heavy hands. Watch this fight.
Foreman did evolve into a well-rounded fighter with defense and stamina in the 2nd part of his career. A balletic boxer? No, he wasnt. A speed merchant? Not hardly. He did however develop into a well-rounded professional fighter with stamina, heart, and brains. Look at how he endured against Moorer and pulled the fight out of the deep freeze with basically one shot. That's stamina and heart. Measure Foreman by what he became not what he was.
@tw69hands2 Yes, but he never combined the two. He had a lot of heart the second part of his career, but by then lost even the slightest amount of speed, and was obese. He also used his jab better.
If you could combine the best from post-retirement, with the best from pre-retirement, you could rate him higher. But, the reality is, both pre and post, he had problems with good fighters, except Frazier, and Norton. One was tailor made for him, the other had problem with any puncher.
Frazier had the punch. He just couldn't catch Foreman cleanly with it. Most of the time. Foreman would roll his right shoulder as Frazier hooked so the bulk of the power would not reach his chin.
@tw69hands2 You can watch Foreman to find the real answer to that question. He has NO fear of Frazier's punch at all. Frazier did land it, although as you say, many were blocked. When they did land, they told Foreman not to even worry about this guy.
If the one's Frazier did land hurt Foreman, or worried him, he'd be more concerned about getting hit. He had no concern at all. He was completely wild. That's how you know.
@TA152H01 combatesdeboxeo has a blow-up George Foreman doll in his closet, I swear he's gay for the guy! I've gone back and forth with this nitwit and he doesn't know shit! Foreman was ko'ed by Ali, nearly flatened by Lyle, and beaten & decked by powder puncher Young, yet this bozo thinks he' the greatest! GF fought all tomato cans w/the exception of a sick Frazier(kidney ailment), and a chickenshit Norton, then he got ko'ed by Ali. Dempsey, Louis, and Marciano would've killed Foreman!
@strictlycomments I like Foreman, as a man, but as a fighter? He's got big problems.
Big mistakes people make come when they say Foreman could beat Marciano because he beat Frazier. Marciano leaned back, Frazier came head first. Marciano was never seriously hurt in 49 fights, Frazier had been knocked down, badly, before even fighting Foreman, and was hurt by Ali. Marciano was one of the hardest punchers, Frazier had a decent punch, but not a very hard shot.
@TA152H01 I agree! I've said the same thing; JF was blind in his left eye & had to square up & plod in head first. Rocky bladed his body offering a smaller target, leaned back on his right leg out-of-range, had a granite chin(unlike Frazier), and packed a right hand that measured 1000 ft lbs! George was Ko'ed by Ali's right, decked by Lyle's right, decked by powder punching Young's right, and this bozo thinks he coulda took Rocky's right?! If GF walked into Rocky he'd have been ko'ed...period!
@strictlycomments Can you imagine after Round 3 or 4? Foreman would be out of gas, and would have the most relentless HW to ever fight him, with gruesome power in both hands, pounding the crap out of him for over 10 rounds. He couldn't survive 8 with Ali, who had no punch, and was anything but relentless.
As if that's not bad enough, Foreman was very easy to hit. Be easy to hit against Marciano isn't far removed from committing suicide.
@TA152H01 Good points! That is if he even could've made it to the 4th round, lol! I've been going back & forth w/another nitwit, on another vid about this very issue! These clowns try to equate Marciano with Frazier vs Foreman. One guy says GF vs JF proves that the puncher beats the swarmer every time(claiming GF would dispose of RM,as he did JF). I always point out that Marciano IS ALWAYS THE PUNCHER against anyone else! His punch had more smack, and if you come to him, u get ko'ed...period!
@strictlycomments You're dealing with people who only have the vaguest understanding of boxing.
Frazier had two really big problems with Foreman. One, he came head first. The other is he couldn't hit hard enough to hurt Foreman. Foreman could be reckless with him, and he was.
The first point is the hardest for people to understand. Marciano could throw from any position, and could lean back and throw with great power. Frazier couldn't. Head first for him.
@TA152H01 So true! Rocky's power was incredible, and was derived from leverage(from the ground), weight shift, torque, momentun, snap at the end of the punch, and the build up of all that preceding technnique added to his punch inertia! This formula, which was a natural phenomenon for Rocky, enabled him to generate 1000 ft lbs of torque! In other words; his natural ability to contort his own body in the production of a punch, produced an energy that was 5 times his bodyweight! He was a BEAST!!!
@blite13 I think the trouble was he didn't aclimatise and he tried to beat Jimmy Young at his own game instead of simply fighting like George Foreman.
Young is hugging foreman every time he comes within range. Young is clinching so much that he becomes a bear yet the referee deducts points from foreman for pushing young off. This is totally unjust. Foreman is the winner here, because he came to box, the other guy is afraid and resorts to cowardly tactics and they call that smart fighting. No wonder Foreman retired after this fraud.
You lose the fight if you clinch in K-1 kickboxing. I think they should make the same rule in boxing.
i dont care what anybody say george forman lost this fight he had young but he did nothing but played around and it cost him i guest he took young to light or maybe his heart wasnt in it but thats what happens when you take peolpe for a joke he got smoke.
@2115Randy I was shocked at how bad Foreman looked. He was arguably one of the least gifted champs in history. The idea he would have knocked out Rocky is absolute nonsense, unless they're talking about Sylvester Stallone. Rocky had a thesaurus of skills: bobbing, weaving, throwing bone-crunching blows with either hand. Sure, If Rocky stood still and said, "Hit me, George." But that's not what fighters do! F. was so slow Rocky would have seen each punch coming, slipped under, & BOOM!
Experience really does matter: George returned to boxing 10 years tater as a very savvy fighter. Older and wiser. Had he shown even a modicum of those ring smarts as a young man he might not have lost to Ali and he would most certainly not have lost to Young. But George had no discipline whatsoever as a young man and he was taken down here by a very disciplined technician. Young's focused performance is praiseworthy. Flooring Foreman was the crowning touch.
@vladiator100 Sure and he was robbed by Ali also??????Right?????Jimmy Young embarrassed George.....What fight did you watch?????Douglas robbed Tyson,....right????? Even though both of Tyson's eyes were shut and Douglas was unscathed???????
@vladiator100 Wrong. George Foreman had the snot beat out of him and was so badly beaten that he nearly died. He had a religious experience and became a born-again Christian.
Young literally put the fear of God into Foreman!
@Myndir After he had been mentally destroyed by Ali, never the same fighter after Zaire... until his half decent comback in the ninetiees he was demoted to just another boxer
I heard Foreman say that he had some type of ailment during this fight. Looking at both men's records, I believe him. Young ended his career with 34 wins (11 KOs) against 19 losses and Foreman 76wins (68 KOs) with 5 losses!
@flouflis1a Young lost heart in later stages of his career hence his poor record. But in his prime he went 3 years undefeated beating for example Lyle twice and Foreman. Only other man to be prime Foreman was Ali. Young outsmarted Foreman and showed great heart. Only ailments Foreman had was being outboxed and maybe some heat stroke in later rounds. But heat conditions were the same for both men.
young beat that ass.some say young ran from foreman but tell me would you stand there and let big george hit you hell no young was in good shape good fight.
Big George era ormai in netto declino . Poco tempo prima aveva rischiato di fare una brutta fine contro Ron Lyle . A quel punto della sua carriera avrebbe perso contro chiunque .
@pihrmacha He wasn't the same because his invincibility was gone after the Ali fight. He beat Lyle but damn near got KO'ed himself..then he beat a washed up Frazier...then he lost to Young...
Foreman just lost his self confidence after the Muhammad Ali fight..he suffered two years of deep depression. He was never the same man again after the rungle in the jungle
Looks like this was taken from a beat-up old VHS tape. And God bless the poster for it. What an amazing fight. I missed an incredible era. What an extraordinary display of athleticism, skill and sportsmanship. Great stuff.
i say foreman won the fight, in that supposed knock down young didn't even jab he just put his jab on foremans face and the right just grazed his shoulder, anyway foreman landed more punches and more power punches. even in this loss it wasn't enough for foreman to retire, he just had to work on his quickness and stamina and he would have been champ again!
@jeryd2003 He also needed to learn to make his punches more economical; to shorten up a tad bit more. He threw too many wild punches that wouldn't land
@EJOLovesMyspace I think Formean was hitting harder and doing more damage (how Young survived the 7 round is a mystery to me), but that Young is superb defensive boxer. He was quick and I think he scored far more points, I just don't think he had quite the stopping power to put Foreman down for the count. Foreman was visibly frustrated, and I think when he was on his game, Young was more in control of the fight, he was just too reticent to finish, instead winning based on the points he scored.
This Foreman, far inferior to his earlier career version (due to lack of confidence or whatever else you wish to attribute the condtion to) would have killed Ali in 1974. It's a testament to Jimmy Young that he made so many foes look foolish. The way he dodges Foreman's fists in round 10 is almost comical. And he does it so casually and calmly.
@dropway9 How the hell's Foreman ever gonna kill Ali anywhere or anytime?he hit Ali at 25 with his best punches, that had raised other greats off their feet and Ali says "that all you got george?"How the hell george ever gonna whup Ali??LMAO
@marcxopoco Imagine what it would be like to have Cosell and Teddy Atlas comment on a fight: Cosell never saw a punch that landed and Teddy never sees a punch that misses!
It's amazing how slanted the ref was toward Foreman, he took a point away and warned him numerous times yet Young was allowed to hold and punch and tie Foreman up through the whole fight and was whining thoughout the first 4 rounds. not same when he was in 1973
bethoveenzeyad 2 months ago
@bethoveenzeyad No slip in talent or punch, just desire, Jimmy had more that night.
George went on to prove how great he really is in the early 90's.
The lay-off did little to impact his immense talent, witnessed by the comeback win
over Ron Lyle in '76. Biggest setback was walking away from Archie Moore although
Gil Clancy was a great trainer & strategist.

Alot of men bring there sons in because its safe and fun. The fact you would think young boys would go around picking fights shows how stupid you are. Its a Family Business we all clean

No way.

I think Waldemaar Schmidt, the referee, could simultaneously beat both these guys. I think in this fight both fighters had to be leery of that famous Schmidt overhand right that could have done heavy damage. It is a testament to Schmidt's integrity that he did not try to knock out either fighter, but just stuck with reffing the fight.

some people forget how much ali would break every " GREAT" fighter, which the 70's were all unreal lean 15 round fighters 2 apart from foreman who was a beast " and i don't think tyson could take them out , anyway they forget ali came back from 3 1/2 years off to beat all these great fighters and done with style , heart , technique and sheer uniqueness , every style he beat or if he did get beat he would win a rematch .. he was superior to anyone in this world , still is !! HERO .. simple !
calbo555 4 months ago

FIGHTFANNERD3 6 months ago
@FIGHTFANNERD3 George is slow and out of shape, much the way Joe showed up for their fight in Jamaica. Joe against Ali in '71 was unstoppable, this George would not have been able to win, he's got nothing here in this fight, NOTHING.
blite13 6 months ago
@blite13 george foreman would ko any version of joe frazier, actually i pick even old foreman 90-91 to stop a prime frazier.
combatesdeboxeo 6 months ago
@combatesdeboxeo You say as if you know, you don't. Joe on his best night would give George fits and would beat this version of George. We never saw a Joe at his best vs Foreman, both fights, Joe was far from his best. That is "telling it like it is".
blite13 6 months ago
george foreman would smash every version of joe frazier, you can use your imagination all you want, frazier himself said that he would not have been capable to beat a prime foreman, not even in his peak in 1970-71, at last frazier 73 was substantially heavier, he weighed 214 pounds and he weighed 205 in his peak, and foreman did push him back like a kid, imagine how easy he would handle a 205 pounder. styles make fights, foreman was too big, too strong and too powerfull for joe. take that
combatesdeboxeo 6 months ago
This has been flagged as spam show
@combatesdeboxeo Joe at 205 was much quicker than he was vs Foreman I and II...did you read my original post? It says "If this Foreman fought Joe Frazier of the night of the 1st Ali fight, George gets KO'd" Understand? It means if this George had to fight the Frazier of Ali I...Frazier wins, understand? Hard to argue with someone who can't read.
blite13 6 months ago
@combatesdeboxeo Frazier didn't have the punch to get Foreman's respect, and he came head first when he was young, which made for a difficult fight against Foreman, considering he could be hurt, but couldn't hurt.
Foreman is a lousy fighter, but I'd still pick him over Frazier. For all his flaws, his strength was too much for Frazier.
TA152H01 5 months ago
this " lousy" fighter would destroy atg like , marciano, dempsey, frazier, jack jonhson, holyfield, mike tyson, liston, lewis, maybe even joe louis etc... a prime undefeated and focused george foreman in 1973 would ko anyone except ali and a a peak larry holmes in his best night. maybe he was not the best technical fighter but he had a brute strength and a brutal hitting power, not many guys could handle that. and this " lousy" fighter would shit on your face so shows a bit of respect
combatesdeboxeo 5 months ago
@combatesdeboxeo LOL. Are you his kid or his butt buddy? I like George Foreman as a man, but as a fighter, he sucked. He'd get killed by Marciano, Lewis, Liston, Holyfield and probably Louis. He got destroyed by the "great" Jimmy Young. He got knocked down and nearly lost to the "great" Ron Lyle.
He had heavy hands, that was it. He didn't even have one punch power, since he'd have to hit a guy several times to even knock him down. He was lucky Frazier didn't have a huge punch.
TA152H01 5 months ago
@TA152H01 honestly, i will not spend my time talking with a simpleton infantile like you, obviously you are a kid, and you know absolutely nothing about boxing.
combatesdeboxeo 5 months ago
@combatesdeboxeo But you just did. Don't you realize how dumb your remark is? I didn't think so.
After watching this fight, against a mediocre fighter, you should know Foreman wasn't much. He got completely embarrassed and completely outclassed by Ali, to the point he looked like he never fought a round in his life. He was that bad. But, that was Ali. This guy is just Jimmy Young, and he makes Foreman look horrible.
There's more to boxing than heavy hands. Watch this fight.
TA152H01 5 months ago
@TA152H01:
Measure Foreman by what he became not what he was.
tw69hands2 5 months ago
@tw69hands2 Yes, but he never combined the two. He had a lot of heart the second part of his career, but by then lost even the slightest amount of speed, and was obese. He also used his jab better.
If you could combine the best from post-retirement, with the best from pre-retirement, you could rate him higher. But, the reality is, both pre and post, he had problems with good fighters, except Frazier, and Norton. One was tailor made for him, the other had problem with any puncher.
TA152H01 5 months ago
@TA152H01:
Frazier had the punch. He just couldn't catch Foreman cleanly with it. Most of the time. Foreman would roll his right shoulder as Frazier hooked so the bulk of the power would not reach his chin.
tw69hands2 5 months ago
@tw69hands2 You can watch Foreman to find the real answer to that question. He has NO fear of Frazier's punch at all. Frazier did land it, although as you say, many were blocked. When they did land, they told Foreman not to even worry about this guy.
If the one's Frazier did land hurt Foreman, or worried him, he'd be more concerned about getting hit. He had no concern at all. He was completely wild. That's how you know.
TA152H01 5 months ago
@TA152H01 combatesdeboxeo has a blow-up George Foreman doll in his closet, I swear he's gay for the guy! I've gone back and forth with this nitwit and he doesn't know shit! Foreman was ko'ed by Ali, nearly flatened by Lyle, and beaten & decked by powder puncher Young, yet this bozo thinks he' the greatest! GF fought all tomato cans w/the exception of a sick Frazier(kidney ailment), and a chickenshit Norton, then he got ko'ed by Ali. Dempsey, Louis, and Marciano would've killed Foreman!
strictlycomments 5 months ago
@strictlycomments I like Foreman, as a man, but as a fighter? He's got big problems.
Big mistakes people make come when they say Foreman could beat Marciano because he beat Frazier. Marciano leaned back, Frazier came head first. Marciano was never seriously hurt in 49 fights, Frazier had been knocked down, badly, before even fighting Foreman, and was hurt by Ali. Marciano was one of the hardest punchers, Frazier had a decent punch, but not a very hard shot.
TA152H01 5 months ago
@TA152H01 I agree! I've said the same thing; JF was blind in his left eye & had to square up & plod in head first. Rocky bladed his body offering a smaller target, leaned back on his right leg out-of-range, had a granite chin(unlike Frazier), and packed a right hand that measured 1000 ft lbs! George was Ko'ed by Ali's right, decked by Lyle's right, decked by powder punching Young's right, and this bozo thinks he coulda took Rocky's right?! If GF walked into Rocky he'd have been ko'ed...period!

When did you get a computer in your mud-hut anyway?
TA152H01 5 months ago
@strictlycomments Can you imagine after Round 3 or 4? Foreman would be out of gas, and would have the most relentless HW to ever fight him, with gruesome power in both hands, pounding the crap out of him for over 10 rounds. He couldn't survive 8 with Ali, who had no punch, and was anything but relentless.
As if that's not bad enough, Foreman was very easy to hit. Be easy to hit against Marciano isn't far removed from committing suicide.
TA152H01 5 months ago
@TA152H01 Good points! That is if he even could've made it to the 4th round, lol! I've been going back & forth w/another nitwit, on another vid about this very issue! These clowns try to equate Marciano with Frazier vs Foreman. One guy says GF vs JF proves that the puncher beats the swarmer every time(claiming GF would dispose of RM,as he did JF). I always point out that Marciano IS ALWAYS THE PUNCHER against anyone else! His punch had more smack, and if you come to him, u get ko'ed...period!
strictlycomments 5 months ago
@strictlycomments You're dealing with people who only have the vaguest understanding of boxing.
Frazier had two really big problems with Foreman. One, he came head first. The other is he couldn't hit hard enough to hurt Foreman. Foreman could be reckless with him, and he was.
The first point is the hardest for people to understand. Marciano could throw from any position, and could lean back and throw with great power. Frazier couldn't. Head first for him.
TA152H01 5 months ago
@TA152H01 So true! Rocky's power was incredible, and was derived from leverage(from the ground), weight shift, torque, momentun, snap at the end of the punch, and the build up of all that preceding technnique added to his punch inertia! This formula, which was a natural phenomenon for Rocky, enabled him to generate 1000 ft lbs of torque! In other words; his natural ability to contort his own body in the production of a punch, produced an energy that was 5 times his bodyweight! He was a BEAST!!!
strictlycomments 5 months ago

I heard Foreman say that he had some type of ailment during this fight. Looking at both men's records, I believe him. Young ended his career with 34 wins (11 KOs) against 19 losses and Foreman 76wins (68 KOs) with 5 losses!
flouflis1a 8 months ago
@flouflis1a Young lost heart in later stages of his career hence his poor record. But in his prime he went 3 years undefeated beating for example Lyle twice and Foreman. Only other man to be prime Foreman was Ali. Young outsmarted Foreman and showed great heart. Only ailments Foreman had was being outboxed and maybe some heat stroke in later rounds. But heat conditions were the same for both men.

i say foreman won the fight, in that supposed knock down young didn't even jab he just put his jab on foremans face and the right just grazed his shoulder, anyway foreman landed more punches and more power punches. even in this loss it wasn't enough for foreman to retire, he just had to work on his quickness and stamina and he would have been champ again!

@jeryd2003 He also needed to learn to make his punches more economical; to shorten up a tad bit more. He threw too many wild punches that wouldn't land
EJOLovesMyspace 11 months ago
