This is the worst camera I have ever bought. Sure it has all the bells and whistles but it takes rotten photos. Just look at the sky in the example video, does it look a natural blue to you??

This camera is really amazing, I have had it for one year now and other new cameras can't compare with it. Well built, outstanding image quality, and you won't be disappointed with its low light performance, takes breath taking pictures in low light! Well recommended

@GOPSsSTOP Thanks for the reply. Here in Germany the HX7V just came out about a month ago. I'm not sure if this is the model which will be released under the name HX9V somewhere else...

@leonmol HX7 is improved version of hx5v, actually HX9V is not that different either its just 16x zoom it has that makes it special from those 2 . It might arrive late to germany because of what happened in Japan.

I've heard enough from all comments, but i need only one clear answer if this camera HX5V is good. Image quality and video. I bought Cannon SX210 in late December 2010, and felt very disappointed cos of poor quality and its function. So i need to change from Cannon to Sony and hope i can get a real answer cos i dun want to feel i waste my money in rubbish bin. Thank you.

@indiecarlos I think they are the same, but if you'd like quality/image features I'd go with the HX5V due to its lens. The TX7 is just more compact and has a great touch screen navigation system, that this one doesn't have. I prefer this one though...

I hope i can save some people some money with this post.

The mic on this camera is terrible. I am not just talking about it's placement, but the audio quality. If you are planning on shooting video of anything that is above average volume (especially concerts) this camera is worthless. Video and photo quality are great, but the audio performance of this camera makes any concert video unusable.

Again, do not buy this camera if you plan to use it for concert or loud/windy videos.

@o0legos0o Good thing you said that, because I was considering buying it for concerts. Do you have any suggestions for cameras that are good for concerts....for both pictures and videos? A lot of people say the Panasonic TZ7, but the pictures aren't that great. Please let me know!

@FmBm2 The TZ7 is the only current gen camera out right now that i've seen people taking concert vids and having reasonable audio quality. The only problem is that you won't get 1080p like the sony. The only other solution is to shoot vids with the sony and have a secondary mic and then mix the video and audio.

@o0legos0o I'm going to a concert in a month, which will be in Staples Center. If you see the seating chart, I'm in section 106, which means the stage is directly in front of me, but it is a bit far (prolly 80-100 ft away ). I'm mostly going to take photos and maybe some video, so I want a camera that does great in lowlight and zoom, and is NOT big and bulky like a dslr. I really wanna buy a Sony Cybershot, but are there other good brands like Nikon? I really don't want Canon though. Thank you.

@azmariah94 If you are planning on using a HX5V for photos mainly, then it is a great camera, as are most sony cams. It is a great camera, it just cannot handle situations like concerts in terms of audio.

I have heard the Panasonic tZ7 performs well in both situations, but haven't experienced it for myself.

@azmariah94 I just went to the lady gaga concert with this camera and although my photos are fabulous, the video sound is AWFUL, it crackles the whole way through. I am so disappointed. If you are wantnig to take videos then don't get this camera. My friend brought a canon camera from a couple years ago and her audio is flawless.

i think u can use 10x optical zoom + 20x digial precison zoom with 10megapixel, and 57x with vga quality with smart zoom
