That and the current going sideways down threw the trench can be very strong and catches a person off guard. You don't expect the current to be so strong and be going North to South instead of East to West. Those sand spits have claimed many vehicles over the years. Sorry to hear about the truck, you are so right, what really matters is everyone is still alive.

We didn't know that lady was so injured. My husband helped her to shore with another guy when the back of the truck started filling with water.

@Vandebu as I stated in my description, it was a male who was driving and the passengers were female. He didnt drive into the ocean. He was on a dry sandspit and drove off it into a trench covered my water. That caused him to either stall or get stuck. The people who called it in were unaware of thier location so first responders as well as the tow truck went to the locaton it was reported to be at. That was about 4 miles away. By the time we all got there the tide had come in quit a wase.
