  • Some say the audience were booing because there was something wrong with the sound system and the audience couldnt hear dylan.

  • @paintballing489 - Dylan was booed because it was the first time he had played any song electric, in essence creating the genre of "Folk Rock" but because of the Folk scene at the time, the majority of the people at the festival weren't impressed with this version and looked down upon it, believing Dylan to be "selling out" and going "mainstream"... fucking hipsters. One of the first intellectual rock performances of the '60s and they boo him for that. Not cool, dudes.

  • Light years ahead of his time. Really amazing.

  • Dylan is the ultimate rebel!

  • they are booing because Dylan went electric.

  • ohhh how does it feel?

  • The words are still relevant today! Timeless.

  • Robert Zimmerman <3

  • non socome fate a considerare rock una canzone come questa.il rock è un'altra cosa aldilà che sia una bella canzone

  • @MrDylan961 è certamente una canzone di impronta rock, è chiaro che non stiamo ascoltando gli who o i rolling stones, è un rock alla dylan maniera;

  • I've read that they were booing because of how loud Mike Bloomfield was.

  • @cameltooth1 They booed because the couldnt hear dylan over bloomfield on maggies farm. the booed him on this because he went electric and they wanted him to stay as an acoustic folk musician

  • y años despues se dieron cuenta de su error al abuchearlo

  • What, 22,111 views and no dislikes? Fuck yeah.

  • What, 22,111 views and no dislikes? Fuck yeah.

  • dylan, fantastic musician and singer/songwriter.

  • boo!!! Good thing Mr. Johnny Cash never did this.

  • Can't believe I posted almost the exact words and I had not read them either. Was "tuning in." Apologies. Tried to cancel the post.

  • Because he went electric. Folk purests thought this was heresy.

  • The reason they were booing was because Dylan was going electric,

which was considered heresy to folk purists. It wasn't because of the

nature of the song, which really wasn't rock. If he had done it acoustic

there would not have been any boos. Anyway the almighty hypnotic

Hammond B-3 began to work its magic & the folkies came to realize

it's a big beautiful world with room for everybody.

  • marvellous!!!

  • Ageless music.

    Sensational

  • you know how good this is by looking at the dislike bar :)

  • this are 6 minutes that changed all the WORLD.

  • Rock music is folk music

  • YES DYLAN IS REALLY COMING BACK TO YOUTUBE!!! this song is back, makes me so happy

  • Please, God, don't take this down...

Also, someone needs to get ballsy and post "Maggie's Farm".

To the OP, if the video gets pulled, challenge it. I had several Hendrix videos pulled, the companies don't respond to the challenges, which means you automatically get your video reposted after two weeks.

  • @CrazyBeatlesFanatic its already posted

  • @CrazyBeatlesFanatic I have it if you want it.. (Maggies Farm)

  • @boardsaket Where? I have yet to find it...

  • solo los audaces llegan....great performance...

  • even if it was "rock", god damn that was an amazing performance. folk fans should be able to apprciate that.

  • Wow do I appriciate this stuff, saw Dylan last week and me and my wife really enjoyed... Can I get Newport 65' show on cd, this stuff is awesome, and Mike Bloomfield holy shit he's a beast.

  • @Rrhoadsfan13 you can get it on DVD. The other side of the mirror bob dylan at the newport folk festival 1963-1965

  • uhm is that harmonica in the key of E or C somebody help me please

  • @Spinalcarker53 c i believe

  • Mike freakin' Bloomfield and Bob Dylan

  • A true folk hero.. Either it's acoustic, or electric rock music, good folk music is honest music. "Play it fuckin loud"

  • @TheElMarsh what about when he said "I'm not a folk singer?"

  • The bass line is like "twist and shout" when he sings "how does it feel..."

  • @rottamato No Beatles here pal, i don't like much the beatles, i got plenty in my garden already

  • @xsol1dsn4kex It's all music man. Dylan and the Beatles respected each others' talent and artistry.

  • @wtw88 yeah but im not Dylan man, neither you us, and i didn't disrespect your beatles, i just say theres enough of them already, leave Him some room man

  • I would die right now where i stand to live back then.

  • Great to hear Mr. Dylan actually make an effort to carry a tune. Apparently the audience didn't realize that this song would, in the future, be acknowledged as the greatest song in rock-and-roll history.

  • the great dylan playing one of my hero mike bloomfield

  • People should be thrown in jail for booing Mr Bob Dylan !

  • the exact point of beginning of a revolution

  • judas

    :)

  • @axelhendersonn I don't believe you ... you're a liar!

    Play it fuckin loud.

  • @axelhendersonn If one is to remain wise, and know real happiness, one must accept change. The only difference between a rut and a grave is their dimensions.

The old folk was okay and still is , but Bob turned the world towards more full musical expression, that can only be seen as a good thing.

  • @mrryno72 Weren't expecting "LikeaRollingStone" in any case because they'd never heard it b4,hadn't been released yet. Thought they'd see cute lil' Bobby come play his classics like "Blowin' in the Wind" & "Chimes of Freedom",as he did the prv. 2yrs.,in standard folk format. Instead he comes out w/ electric gtr.,leather jacket,on dope, like he's Marlon Brando or James Dean.(Playing an electric guitar @ NewportFolkFst in 65' was a direct insult to the whole scene,& he knew they'd boo)

  • @JeffOxBig It had been released. This was the 25th, it was released on the 20th, and DJs had an advance copy edited into two parts on the 15th. According to Al Kooper, it was all over the radio during the festival and the reaction was mixed, half the audience loved it, half hated it.

  • @JeffOxBig It wasn't an insult; it was a challenge to the conventional artist and audience and an invitation to exhilaration to those who were willing to take the trip.

  • they are definitely booing because he went electric. Dylan was the king of folk music. Highway 61 revisited basically destroyed folk. Imagine expecting "the lonesome death of hattie carol" and getting "tombstone blues". However, that album is incredible, every single cut. wish I was alive to experience its release.

  • heaven

  • @mrryno72 No, I don't think they were surprised by the fact that he played electric. They just wanted to show their contempt for it - if that is why they booed.

  • They are still booing...They say '' he can't sing'' or '' he's not what he used to be''

    I don't believe them...They're a liar...

    ''PLAY IT FUCKING LOUD''

    :-)

  • pretty obvious 90% of the people there were there to hear his older folksier acoustic shit... they didn't know they were hearing him redefine music

  • why are they booing?

  • @ryanlucas10 There are different reasons flying around. Some people think that they were booing because the sound quality was low, others thought they were booing because Dylan went electric, which was sort of the antithesis of folk in that time.

  • @ryanlucas10 Because he switched to playing with a band and an electric guitar

  • @ryanlucas10 because dylan play rock in a festival folk

  • @floydcorleone rock music is our folk music now. :)

  • @ryanlucas10 because dylan play rock in a festival folk

  • @ryanlucas10 --he was all acoustic for the longest time. and they gloved him..but, here, this is when he changed to electric instruments...they booed, and walked out.

  • @ryanlucas10 "LOVED" * TYPO

  • @ryanlucas10 The guitar!

  • @ryanlucas10 Newport Folk Festival,Newport. This is a very famous moment..They are upset because the folk artists used accoustical only....He was booed off and came back and asked for a harmonica from the crowd,

I just saw him a few weeks ago and my take on Dylan??? He is Bob Dylan!!! He has earned the right to do whatever he pleases....

  • @ryanlucas10 Because at the time an electric guitar was a sign of "Rock n Roll" and the "shallow songs rockers played". Folk music was about sending a poiniant message. Dylan playing an electric guitar for the first time at a Folk Festival was seen as a slap in the face and selling out which is farthest from what is expected of Dylan a "Folkie"

This is one of Dylans greatest moments, he took a great chance and in doing which united Rock and Folk in one show.

  • @ryanlucas10 no, after all it was probably because of the sound, was too loud, Al Kooper in no direction home said that the volume was too loud, moreover dylan played for only 15 minutes

  • i fucking love you for putting this up!

  • Mike Bloomfield, Al Kooper, Bob Dylan Rock'd first supergroup!
