I love this song! I used to be a country music dee-jay and I played lots of Sonny James' music back in the 60s and 70s but I never heard this one until I saw Slap Shot in the 80s. My hockey team watched the movie at least annually back then and into the 90s but it took me til now to find out who performed it. It's sort of a circle-of-life thing for me. Thanks flashbell.

Good song, but if Cowboy Copas had been alive to hear this he would have sued Sonny's pants off. It sounds so much like "Alabam" it isn't funny. A lot of commenters here remember this song from "Slap Shot" - it plays a couple of times in that movie, most notably when everybody on the buses moon the townspeople outside the arena.

It's really a shame that todays so-called "country" music is really nothing of the sort. As a fan of music and a musician, I have always listened to a variety of styles and was exposed to country music at an early age. So from Louis Armstrong, the Beatles, Miles Davis and Jimi, the likes of Sonny James, George Jones, Kitty Wells and the late, great Hank Williams Sr. are as equally important to me. I miss REAL country music. Thanks for this posting bro : )
