i didnt read through all the comments hopefully im not asking the same question, but have you ever tried the set up with tree climbing spikes? my buddy has one of these things and i want one now too but i think i might try to make my own. i cant imagine it is too hard. ill just look at his, measure out the straps, cut my own to length and sew them with a sewing machine. but i want to make some climbing spikes also so i can just climb any tree in seconds, set up the platform and hunt in 5mins
9 plus minutes is a long time to set up....I can be up a tree with my summit climber in about 5. much more quiet too. nice video though. be wondering what a tree saddle was for a long time now.
This is what I haveinmy treesaddle set. The LW sticks, are as light as you can get , and the setup is very fast. Even starting from scratch. I highly recommend the treesaddle to anyone who is considering them. You won't ever use another climber, or a hang on, once you "get the hang of it"
Does anyone know what happened to trophyline? Can't find a saddle anywhere. Thinking if going with Guidos saddle but pretty expensive. I'm size 33 waist and after watching these videos would like to start saddle hunting. Any advise on size model and where to find would be helpful.
This is a very informative and beneficial video for those, like me, are intrigued by the idea of the tree saddle. Their website does not offer much insight on how to deploy the tree saddle, and your use of the ladder sticks to me seems like a perfect idea.
I have the same set up, 6 climbing sticks, and a saddle. I use cransford rope steps for my base, but I'm looking into a tree seat platform before the season. I found 2 on line, selling one. This will be first year in asaddle. Climbed and sat in it a few times, comfy and after about a dozen shots I hitting the right rings with my bow.

After watching these vids I bought a saddle (not easy to find them), I've set it up a couple dozen times now, and I love it. Took awhile to get the hang of it, but I have my set-up down to 11 minutes. I use the Ameristep aluminum rapid rails, just because I had them, and use the top section as a platform as well as 4 strap on steps on a single strap. I've taken 87 deer with a bow, and wish I'd have had this system years ago. I remember plenty of times where I couldn't take the shot safetly.
thinking hard about buying one. tuff decision between this and the gorilla scout. seems like it would be akward shooting out of the tree saddle. wish i could try one without having to buy it first. there pretty pricy
That's a lot of stuff to carry and a lot more work. I can use 10-12 screw in tree steps and hang a Loc-on Limit in less time than it takes to do all of that and when the Loc-on is hung, I've got a stand that faces out and which I can relax in. And, from which I can shoot in any direction.
In most states screw in steps are illegal, That is why I used the lone wolf sticks. I think it would be hard to put 12 screw in steps in the time it takes to strap 4 steps to a tree, where each step is really 3. As for the tree stand, you can not shot 360 degrees. You can't shoot through the tree that you are attached to. With the tree saddle you can swing around the tree and shoot 360 degrees. As to the relax part, you have never sat in a tree saddle.
I think they're probably illegal on public land but not on private property. In any event, they should always be taken out. I've hunted for 45 and never had any problems killing deer from any tree stand regardless of which way they approached me. I can't imagine how uncomfortable that sling, which faces the wrong way anyway, would be or how tired a man's legs could get trying to keep a tree off of your face. One slip and you're eating bark. Might work for a few of you but I'll pass.
Never mind my question, I got it figured out. Just some simple string loops attached to the saddle to hook the climb sticks to work great. Thanks for the idea, it makes it a lot easier to get up the tree quickly and quietly. The system is awesome for mobility!
Nice videos, very helpful! I just invested in the exact same set up - saddle, lonewolf steps, ameristeps platform. What exactly are you using to hook the lonewolf steps to the back of your saddle as you climb? That's a lot better idea than trying to rest them on the linemans belt while climbing as I've been doing.
Ok, so you have me talked into your set up, I ordered the lone wolf sticks today... But what is that platform strap you are using to stand and maneuver around the tree? Where can I find one of those? Nice video man!!
If you will look at my other videos you will see the two main types of platforms that I use, the first is one slightly modified ratchet strap with 6 ameristep strap on tree steps cut off there strap and all slid on my modified ratchet strap, When I can locate more steps I will make a video of how to make these.
The second is a Gorrila tree seat and 4 folding screw in tree steps.
The saddle is 3lbs, now the lone wolf stick are 10lbs, that is my choise of climbing. Its hard to find anything much lighter than that. No more work than hanging a hang-on tree stand ever time you hunt. As you can see I can go from the ground to set up in less than 7 mins. As for confort looks are deceiving. :)
dude man u should be a salesman for TROPHYLINE b/c i jus sold my equalizer stand & was gettin ready to order the EQ24 but then i thought well ill put an eyeball on trophyline & i think this video has jus sold me, 1 ? where did u find the ladder stick & the steps that u are standin on @ the top, im lookin @ summits bucksteps which have 4 sec. that weight 11lbs total, thx man kool video...

Give the saddle a fair trial and you will get rid of that Loc-on! Also, post a video showing you do your setup faster without sweating you butt off!
Boudreaux has helped a ton of archers with his knowledge and expertise with saddle hunting.
Please give it a try and you will believe!
