I wish Atlas would bring these out with fictitious paint schemes for every major railroad (fictitious because these cars don't exist). A little detail wouldn't hurt either! Like stirrup steps and side grabs not to mention some hose detail. After all this is a MOW operational car.
thats cool I seen those and though about getting a few of them that way I can run like 3 back to back that way one is doing the abrazind and then one doing the vacume and so one that way I dont have to make a lot of tripps but they cost a good penny for now have to save up for them
When running the track cleaning car using a wet solution to clean the track ,does it make a difference which way the car sets when being pulled by an engine? Does laying the cleaning solution work better after the polishing disc or before the polishing disc as it wipes the rails with the cleaning solution?
I would run it so the foam pad is laying the fluid and the polishing disc can then clean with it. That way you're not letting it set on the rails until the car comes around again.
To be honest, I'm not sure if you can easily. They give you replacement pads so you can just swap them out if they're dirty. They are fabric though so if you can remove it from the head, you can probably hand wash them.
We'll be offering the spares directly in the near future but in the meantime you can get them from several online retailers.
Thanks, the reason I'm asking is that i can't find a picture of the bottom of the n-scale model and I noticed that the cleaning head replacement packs don't include that foam strip. I was thinking the N version uses the disc instead of the foam?
It does contain the strip, it's just really small, probably around the size of your pinky nail, though thicker. I don't know why it doesn't get included. It might not get as much wear if you're not doing wet cleaning all the time. You can probably make your own easily enough with some foam and an exacto knife.
Regardless, you can run it either way, dry with just the polishing head or wet with fluid, foam insert and polishing head.
Cool....I'll see how it works. If I give it the "thumbs up" I might get the HO verision for my around the christmas tree train! Thanks for your quick responses!
that is cool

I'm going to buy one for my layout soon. Just a question, is there replacement cleaning pads sold seperatley? Or can the pads be cleaned?
MikeDelic14 2 years ago 4
Yes. We now have pads available for sale. I don't believe you can clean them but if anyone has had any luck doing so, feel free to pass on the hints.

I've been using the N scale version for a few years now. Works great, exactly like the video shows. Really good product.

Is the N-scale one set up the exact same way, with the foam pad for the cleaning fluid?
gtc1961 2 years ago
Pretty much. Just smaller. :)
