@willsbanana This is based on a trend of ONE YEAR. If you look at a 30 year trend it is going down the shit hole. Anyway extent is pretty much irrelevant compared to age or volume, which was alot lower in 2008 than in 2007.

Where did you get this video from? When I go to NASA Marshall Space Flight Center, I have not been able to find the link of that video showing that Ice Increase but, they continue to say the ice caps melted some more.

The maps compare quite closely with satellite imagery, so no reason to think the data is flawed.

according to Peterson (2008) in the 1970s out of 42 studies only 7 predicted global cooling whereas the majority predicted global warming. in the media global cooling was a popular news, but that does not mean it was a scientific opinion. i recommend you to get yourself a scientific education, a bit of science history would not be amiss either. you should at least know the plain basic definitions of weather vs. climate!

of course there are fluctuations in each direction every year, thats the reason why you have to look at the longterm trend. if this year is much hotter than last year then people might say "proof of global warming", and if this year is cooler than last year then people will say "global warming does not exist". but both are wrong. one single year does not prove anything! it does not prove warming, it does not prove cooling, it neither proves nor rebuts climate change. it has no significance!

The problem is Al Gore/ rest of the scientifically illiterate (mostly journalists) have done exactly that to alarm us-editors forced to use every excuse in science/weather reporting to work in something about the end of the world. But when the predictions go wrong, like here, we are obliged to accept further threats and insults if we question why. Thus we realize the entire exercise is not and never was science. It is dogma and religion.
