Am I the only person who sees this as exactly what Dawkins was talking about? The message of the poster was TALKING about the children of devout religious folk, and suggesting that they should not be labeled with the religion of their parents until they are old enough to examine the evidence themselves and come to their own conclusions. The poster would have made no sense if it depicted the children of atheists, as atheists tend not to label their children.

@LordShadrach Actually I haven't found anything challenging the big bang in my research, but what I have found is that it was so complicated that there had to be a designer behind it. So so far, based on the evidence, the Big Band did occur as the creation of the earth, but there had to be a God behind it.

If the big bang was, as we currently suspect, the begining of time, then nothing happened before it. Not to say that there was just "nothing" for an eternity before the explosion, but to say that there WASN'T a "before" the big bang, as time did not exist.

@Greendude33 As a child, he was adherent to the Jewish faith he was raised in. It was never clear how much he believed - just that he followed. Later in life, when he learned more about the universe (much more than you and I could ever know), he therein stated his atheism in no uncertain terms. He sometimes talked about "god" in metaphorical terms (the "dice" quote you people love to mine for example), but he did not in any way believe in a sentient god, and he stated this clearly.

Gravity also has "theory" which in scientific terms refers to a body of knowledge surrounding a phenomenon - in the case of gravity, the phenomenon of things being pulled together. In the case of evolution, it is the phenomenon of living organisms evolving. The category "theory" doesn't mean "wild guess".  It is the best (and only) explanation that explains all the evidence.

Most scientists subscribe to the abiogenesis model for the origin of the first life form on earth, as there is some evidence to support it. However, abiogenesis, like the big bang, has nothing to do with the fact of evolution. Evolution has enough evidence to prove with certainty it a hundred times over. Abiogenesis is still in the "this is a possibility" stage.

Evolution is very thoroughly explained and logically obvious once you understand the mechanics behind it. And if the logical obviousness weren't enough, there are books and books explaining the tons of evidence that supports it (and discusses the total lack of evidence against it).
