The New Beverly Cinema in Hollywood is my favorite theatre in the city. Popcorn is only a dollar and the tickets are super cheap. I've seen films such as Casablanca, Streetcar Named Desire, Double indemnity, The Big Sleep and a couple of Woody movies too. There's great comradery and a palpable bond amongst the audience that you don't feel in the big theatres. It's a little treasure in LA then many locals don't even know about. I definitely recommend going if you visit or live in the LA area.

I don't understand everyone's reactions. He's not attacking Woody Allen. He's patting him on the back for not being a Hollywood douche-bag slow-mo explosion movie maker. Hopefully the internet will eventually kill big budget films as we know it (via digital bootlegging making them unprofitable) and the only kinds of movies getting made will be small character driven clever films like Allen's. Henry's a cool guy, but he's way off. Woody is the epitome of the "self-satisfied, creativity-lacking" establishment-film-star/director. He's made about 20 movies where the main character is essentially himself at age 35, and in most literally played himself.
Another romantic comedy set in NYC with a handsome, quirky girl and a nebishy, slightly irritating, nice guy (jew?) with philosophical musings, familiar riffs and jazz segues? I think I'll pass and just watch the Knick game.

Henry would be glad to see Wes Anderson, Paul Thomas Anderson, and Alexander Payne's films - they're anti-establishment and representative of what the directors want to do rather than Hollywood bringing them dumbed-down ideas.

being a person who worked theatre for years and a huge fan of "indie" type films, i have never gotten too much into certain Woody Allen movies, but i do like a few of them, annie hall wasnt a favorite too weird but the rest were good, Henry Rollins speaks the truth, its sadly but true and i support his idea, guy lives by his words why not hang with that?
