Keep in mind that these LEDs are have two modes of brightness. When in full-brightness mode they are nearly blinding, even from a considerable distance.
The new LED beacons are actually SO bright that they have two levels of intensity. Believe me when I say they are profoundly brighter that the halogens. But I still prefer the rotators too.
They actually did switch to the new LED beacon which isnt bad but at the same time different. There the exact same beacon the only difference is the lighs inside. Now they use the milti flash beacon and not rotating, The new Tahoe's have them as well. Great video also.
The LED light is pretty cool and I agree that it is a much better choice then going to a traditional lightbar. It was quite a shock to see one for the first time recently after seeing the halogen beacons all my life!
I believe these new LED retro-kits are being made by Whelen. It is a great upgrade from those old halogen lights that you could barley see in light fog. I also believe that they can choose a rotating pattern if they want. They have something like 40 different patterns to choose from and I agree I would choose a rotating pattern. Cool Video
I agree. Replacing the halogens with LEDs and keeping the rotators would be cool. I guess I'm just glad to see them not going to a garden-variety bar like everyone else.

my understanding is that it has several different modes including a revolving flash like the old ones.
im sure it is more dynamic because of less surface area, not for speed but for fuel economy

Yeah, I'm not entirely sure how it is. But I think the LED would look better if it was a constant flashing LED instead of the "dashing" flash.

I have to say, the new leds work nice. However they should switch to the new leds but keep a rotating pattern like the old halogens had.
