It's vital for everyone to have their Vitamin D levels tested so that we will know how much Vitamin D to take. We need a lot more than we can get from food or safely from the sun.
OMG this guy is so totally boring. But his points are well made. It's true, we all need more Vitamin D, but that should be Vitamin D3, not D2. Dr. John Cannell, well known expert on the subject and his wife take well in excess of 5,000 IU of Vitamin D3 daily and more than 10 times that amount in the winter and they are never sick. They may well be the healthiest people on the planet today.
the only thing I'm confused about is how much to take? The RDA is a lot lower than vitamin D proponents are recommending. However, there is a risk of poisoning oneself with too much.
Also, is it necessary to take magnesium as well? Or calcium? Something to do with the absorption? Or may be the advice was don't take them??? I'm confused! lol
you don't feel the warmth through the window so ultra violet light doesn't pass the window or clothes or sunscreens or sunglasses or buildings. This is the reason for Vitamin D deficiency in northern climates and especially since industralization in 20th century.

vitamin D is a hormone and almost evryone is deficient you need at least 1.000 iu a day (soft gels) what you produce with the sun is not enoughVitamin D is necessary for healthy bone development and maintenance, and it also plays a role in nerve, muscle and immune system function. Some studies have linked low vitamin D levels to a higher risk of type 1 diabetes in children and, in adults, heart disease and certain cancers also a lower life span. > FYI
i'm in the sun almost everyday here in south fl. recently got my blood tests done and i as well had a vitamin d deficiancy. i take 1000units in the morning and 1000 at night. as instructed. could i potentially remove the need to do this by sunbathing for 15min. a day?

I totally agree with Dr. Chris. I am retired but I have access to pure vitamin D. If anyone wants high strength powders, I will mix it up and send it out cheap.
I wonder why blacks seem to get the highest rate of cancer. Could it be their dark skin is conditioned for heavy sunlight.Could it be that in lighter sunlight areas of worl the darker your skin the more sun exposure u nee to manufacture healthy amounts of vitamin D. corrupt sunscreen industry lying?
People of darker skin screens out the UVB, which is said to be paramount in the synthesis of vitamin D. In producing less vitamin D(3), they are more vulnerable to cancer and other chronic diseases.
Now it's October perhaps people should be reminded that in the UK the UVB rays don't reach the earth in significant quantities to synthesise Vitamin d in the skin.
From now until March while in the UK (or above latitude 45) you need to supplement with Vitamin D3 Cholecalciferol. Google "The urgent need to recommend an intake of vitamin D that is effective" for more information.
The research this video is discussing can be found by googling "Hypovitaminosis D in British adults at age 45 y: nationwide cohort study of dietary and lifestyle predictors"
Google "The Vitamin D Council" for links to cheap high strength vitamin d.
"Effects of Above Average Summer Sun Exposure on Serum 25-Hydroxyvitamin D and Calcium Absorption" shows we may actually need somewhat more than is available in the UK in Winter from sunshine alone.
Where do you get a vitamin test that shows what you are deficient in ?

What about sunlight trough a window, does the light still have the effect of making vitamin D in contact with the skin

Good question!
Dr Mercola says that through the window it completely inhibits the potential of making vitamin d out of the sunlight.
