Actually, I'm ready to bet it's just a lowered-pitch version of Aya Hirano's solo version of the song. Compare the sound of that "asobou" (0:46) and of that "waku waku" (0:26) with here: /watch?v=k8PcWT8pD54. That would also explain why the keyboards sound so...fake. It does sound a bit like Takahiro, though...if you want to hear Sasori sing, you can try searching for Tentomon's image song from Digimon Adventure, it's going to be hilarious. XD

Okay I might get flamed/thumbs down but this is my opinion...

It's definitely not Sakurai-san, nor is it Aya Hirano/Haruhi's toned down. It's indeed a toned down instrumental, but I believe it's a fandub from some, I dunno, Nico Nico singer who sounds kinda like him. I'm pretty sure that's the case. For instance, Limone from Nico Nico sings a ton of songs under Durarara's Orihara Izaya's name, and he sounds like him but it's not him.

it was the season one ending and yes it did sound like a girl but a group who redid it and switched the genders around redid all the music so haruhi mikuru and yuki sounded like men. this is actually harukis version. someone just lowered the pitch...

The song itself seems to be lowered to make it sound like it was a male singing it. I'm quite familiar with Sakurai's singing, and it doesn't match him properly. If this was him singing, he'd be straining his voice super bad to sound like that.
