I am all for no plastic bags as long as we are not selective with the plastic products. No more disposable diapers, etc....lets see how well that one sells. I do think that a paper bag is just fine and the tree people and our nanny state government need to shut up. We can grow another tree.
you ever live in uk man i dont have time to shit! nevermind my own bags? i love yeh but your on a different pay structure dude and you fuckin know it!
omg, he is just suuch a cool guy, i mean, like, what new radion singer such as lady gaga miley cirus justin bieber... writes a song about being eco friendly, i just think thats so cool how he s all in to that, yeahh go jackkk
I bring my own Tupperware for my takeaways and my own plastic bags. The best part is I get discounts from the stall operators for my effort. Every penny counts in the current situation.
well uptown in nyc there are hardly any places that recycle used bags and i think it would be more wasteful in the CITY to use plastic bags because no one really recycles them and they usually get thrown away or used as garbage bags which yes reuses them but not they way recycling reuses the material. i think in many occasions it is more environmentally friendly to use cloth bags. a little disinfectant could help but a little water never killed anybody, throwing them in the wash...
@MsSkateboardP I am not joking. Read carefully. The only way reuseable cloth grocery bags are better for the environment is if they are NOT washed. Washing them effectively uses more energy and water, and pollutes more, than using plastic bags. But, if you DON'T wash the cloth bags, bacteria will grow in them and contaminate your food. It's a catch-22. You are better off using the plastic bags the grocery store gives you. Every large grocer I've been to has recycling bins for used plastic bags.
There was a study recently showing that the typical reuseable cloth or canvas grocery bag is loaded with dangerous bacteria, including e coli. Seems the dumb hippies that put their organically-grown veggies in them never clean the bags. (If they did, these "environmentally friendly" bags would have a much higher carbon footprint than paper or plastic one-use bags.)
So use plastic bags, they are the healthy alternative for you and your family. Recycle them, but don't reuse them.
