  • which softwares you use?

  • I've been trying to program my launch pad to do this but i'm having trouble! Help?

  • I SAW THIS VIDEO YRS AGO AND IT JUST POPPED IN MY HEAD AND I'M WATCHING AND THINKING TO MYSELF MAN THIS IS STILL AMAZING... THE BEATS ARE TIGHT THE TECHNOLOGY IS TIGHT, THIS A MUST HAVE PIECE OF EQUIPMENT... THINK YOU CAN UPLOAD ANY MORE MIXES YOU'VE CREATED..?

  • which software are you running to get it playing in your pc?

  • which apps do you use??

  • Wow I can honestly say this is one of the least inspiring or useful music devices I have see. For the price I just can't ever see it being worth it. I mean for price you could get a moog phatty and have something consistently useful and fun.

  • @SuperBenzid to ignorant and impertinent people like you, the monome might not seem inspiring, I understand that. what you might not have understood at all is that the monome isn't a standalone synthesizer and it doesn't create its own sounds. you always have to use it with a DAW like e. g. ableton live. the monome is a way more abstract and technical approach than a simple clavier.

  • @vanvalldrey Yes but if you want a controller to do that there are far more interesting ones available for cheaper. I mean it was good for its purpose when it first came out but it was outclassed by commercial projects within a very short period. I maintain for the price this really is a bad device on a bang to buck ratio. A new vst, aftertouch, rack mount, whatever your workflow it seems like there would always be something better to buy than this at the current prices.

  • every single one is sold out wtf do i do?

  • @mexicanpoptart17 You go on their forums, and look up the trade category, which is also for selling.

  • @mexicanpoptart17 buy a launchpad instead, or check out livid instruments, it's basically the same thing.

  • @mexicanpoptart17 you can build your own or buy a used one.

  • @dspielman Yeah, but you still need to record that last thing you played... It's too good.

  • everything is sold out man

  • is it hard to play it?

  • where can I buy one of these and how much would it run me?

  • @CrispyDesignz monome.org

  • wat program u using??!

  • @dspielman very nice, how much?

  • sounds like Daedalus

  • sounds like daedelus

  • ANSWER THE QUESTION!! WHAT SONG IS IT AT 1:09 ?!!?!?!?!? :D PLEASE ANSWER FOR THE SAKE OF ALL OF US!!

  • @NJK1D Days Of Wine And Roses

  • @dspielman i laaaaaaff youuuuu :D

  • @dspielman is that the name of the original? i would very much like to get a copy of that tune you are playing there and other like it. is it possible? can you suggest some artists that do that kind of stuff? thanks.

  • @dspielman by whom?

  • @RadioChris93 Henry Mancini

  • @dspielman But which one, there is a lot of songs with the title unfortunately

  • does it come with software? if so, what software?

can i use it with ableton live?

  • how can i download this sweet mix you made???

  • what makes this thing so much better then the launchpad thats only 150

  • @MrSalmon88 I can pay double that to be contributing to guys talking about the value of open-ended music hardware. The monome is hand made by artists. The launchpad is piece of plastic.

  • @MrSalmon88 It's not an abelton live controller, but an open source interface. It can do a million other things beyond music. It's all up to you as what you want to do to it.

  • @SuperiFox The launchpad can also be used as an open source controller, at least I have been told it can.

  • @SuperiFox As can a keyboard and mouse :P

  • @MrSalmon88 programable patterns that control more thain ableton live and all the software is open source

  • I used the track he made at 1:07 to remix Mos Def's song "Mathematics".

    watch?v=WYAOxNbeT64

    Check it out :)

  • @easygdubs why did you take it down it sounded awesome

  • what program do you need to use one of these?

  • What program/s can you use for these?

  • props!! what are you using as a software setup? maxmsp or something else?

just bought one of these and i want the step sequencing capabilities you've got here to work with ableton if i can get things working right

  • How does this work, do you have to assign each sound to each button or are there pre sets. Do you need any specific programs, do you have to have a mac.

    Thank you.

    Really enjoyed the video

  • look up how to make one. google is your friend I already found instructions and it doesn't seem to hard. a bit of a pain in the ass tho

  • this is blowing my mind.

  • daaaaaaaaaaaa ??!! :-O'''

  • 1:10 i love it i love the whole thing but 1:10 hits home. im am currently emailing the company to get one sent to my base so i can make some beautiful music like you do haha i know it will take time to learn tho. i do want to ask how long did it take you to get that good?

  • what program do you use. is it the ones that comes with the monome?

  • Love the mix at 1:07 ;-) You might should consider releasing a longer version ? =)

  • @Wildstyle23 tru dat

  • wat is the name of that song?? at 1:10??

  • sorry for stupid question), but are you working with ableton?

  • This looks really cool! love the tunes there ace!

I'm just curious though, whats the difference between this and the novation launchpad and other similar products for that matter?

And does is it only run on programs such max msp?

    Thanks

  • i no its all about the Monome but what is that laptop you have ?

  • this shit is fucking stupid...just a bunch of useless buttons! really! how many different variations of the same sound do you need? the mpc line up is where its at!!! not this retarded shit, you dont even use more than 90% of the buttons!!!! and it sounds like shitttttttttttttt

  • I seriously come by to listen to this SO OFTEN. It's amazing, especially starting 1:12

Where are the loops taken from? Days Of Wine and roses, for instance?

Oh, pls record it T^T so amazing.

  • ok. i have a question. where do you get tracks like the ones u had at 1:10??

  • isnt this what derek in Pretty Lights uses?

  • man Im looking to get the new grayscale 40h. Do you ever just chill for a while and freeform with the sinewave sounding setting? Like you see on the main page? its beautiful I was wondering if its capable on this 40

  • the monome is one of the most awesome inventions.. i'll just have to order one ^.^

  • want

  • hey ive been looking for a monome and monome.org is fucking retarded. any tips on how to actually buy it from that site?

  • This is alien technologie O.o

  • i never seen anything on this leval

  • this thing is rediculous im geting one how hard is it to learn and do you need software? or does it come with it

  • OMG! I WNAT THIS INSTRUMENT NOW!!! Its magic.

  • OMG the first beat you could rap to this is so sick

  • You're a hack! This won't save me from becoming a zombie. Post something useful.

  • 1:10 and on pure bliss

  • hey man, what's the name of the track at 1:10?? awesome vid!!!

  • what software are you using here?

  • Which One Is The Best ??? Because There Are Many Diferent Sizes ... pls Help Me !!! and from where can i buy it

  • @djclayb It really about personal preference. I'd say that the bigger monomes are that ones that should be used by some one that either wants an entire arsenal of samples, loops, ect. at his/her finger tips or for controlling certain things in a DAW via MIDI. Then again it's all about choice. So, in a nutshell, the small ones are good for those who can manage with 64 buttons and I suppose that the bigger ones expand a workspace and available options.

  • how much will this cost me and where to go so i dont get ripped off ?

    answer pleaaaaase!

  • @TheJonashelsing go to monome.org to buy it

  • @dspielman

    thank youuuuu

  • @dspielman

    thank youuu

  • @dspielman How much have you paid for this masterpice *.* I want to get one..

  • @Qbite they're like 500

  • @Zkrudriverz Wow thats some expensive Stuff. But Still Awesome :D

  • @Qbite Yeah, but they're SOO worth it. I bought a monome "copy" with 128 buttons. And its just wonderful, since it can work as like everything. It's been used for djing, controlling daw/max/msp, producing, video deiting, VJing, setp-sequencer, effects controller, "piano", drum machine and loooots of other things. And there is tons, of little apps made in Max/MSp. So get one, its woth it, its good for the climate too :P since theyre pretty limited, and made in a barn...

  • @dspielman The site doesn't work man.

  • @ubercoolmanna monome.com is where you can see where you can buy one and how big they come also color and style. Also i prefer a Mac and Ableton Live.

  • @Julian1686 i believe u meant to say monome.org, thats the site that works.

  • @dspielman how much man? i saw somewhere sth about 2,200$ ...

  • @dspielman wait from your comp/laptop do you get to programm each button as a different sound or loop??

  • @dspielman

your last bit usung the oldschool sample sold the item to me... excellent soul sample... it seems like the applications with this box are as wide as your imagination will go

  • @TheJonashelsing dont go to monome.org, go on ebay or make one yourself

  • @TheJonashelsing around $400

  • so sick

  • I like that sample at 1:11 That shit was sick

  • whats the software for this?

  • sounds like daedelus

  • i want one so bad!

  • meh i wouldn't buy one

  • if i want samples that sounds like the mlr example one (whuut), what do i search for?

I tried 1920-40's jazz but its so fast and happyO.o

I want that daedelus style shiiet.

  • wow! great control!

  • This is real :)

  • totally in control! loved it. do you know if you can link a monome to visuals?

  • sublime ..

  • What programs are you running the monome through? Just got 1 and I want the app your using thanks.

  • interesting device i saw a Japanese guy built one using a keyboard hacking device, how much does one cost?

  • what software is required for this awesome bit of kit?

  • I still want one, but they are so frickin' expensive. Maybe I'll buy the upcoming 64 grey. Nice music though ;)

  • This is crap. Mr. Fingers is just pressing buttons at random and he thinks he's Brian Eno. The instrument has potential but this is a zero out of 10 for me.

  • Sounds like shit to me.

  • ive seen this video so many times and it still amazes me... favorite part starts at 1:14 love this beat u do... wish i had one of these so i can make some sick beats...

  • how do i get one ?

  • Can you post the code for this?

  • please tell me where u got that sample from that shit sounds Crraaaaaazy

  • how much ?

  • Hey does anyone know of a vst version of this kinda thing?

  • @FUTTAHSIKK

why would you need a VST version of a midi controller?

    That doesn't make sense.

  • i think he means like a vst plug in that would do a similar thing to a monome? no idea.

  • @lBlunique17 then again you still need a controller though lol

  • i like the way it controls, i think i realize i dont need it, but i like the idea of having an assigned scale to the sequencer instead of like a piano. whatevah

  • that thing is sick ...were do i get it and what program are you running it on

  • Sweet! I saw a flash version of this. Did you make it yourself?

  • Is that you Daedelus !!?

  • Awesome sh#T man!!!

  • Glad you enjoyed the video.

  • @dspielman sir, this is mint. what song did you get the sample at 1:10 from???

  • That is awesome dspielman!

  • shits tight who are you?

  • is that a Max/MSP patch you are running with your Monome?

  • super nice ;]

  • which app is this?

  • @NJK1D Ableton live I think

  • good demonstration - thanks

  • I watch this vid sometimes just to here the song at 1:10 :D

  • @vdub350 nice!

  • @dspielman Seriously good find. What was the name of the sample? Did you use ableton for this, and how much did that thing cost?

  • @vdub350 Is it sad to admit I do as well? :p

  • @vdub350 You might be interested in The Avalanches, Since I Left You. (Album, not the single, the single sucks)

  • how much?£

  • omg MLR is such a beautiful app :) and if i may say so that's also the best demonstration of step ive seen too

  • omg..dude..give me that song starting at 1:10!

  • this is a cheap tenori-on

  • @mastergabo15 no its not its a billion times more versatile ;) because we make the programs and therefore how it works

  • too bad this is what the tenori-on was based off of... you can build your own monome....

  • what is the classic song that gets mixed starting from 1:10

  • My guess would be "Days Of Wine And Roses"

Search for it on Youtube - you can hear it for example at the very beginning of the movie trailer!

  • cool :D

  • where does I buy one? O:

  • @XHardstyleD Internet, around a thousand dollars, well worth it.

OR (and this FUN) make one yourself.

  • @XHardstyleD i like your question :)

  • anyone who thinks that a monome is too static or minimal to create an orchestrated sound needs to look up Dreamsploitation. He does so much with his.

  • its true, i've been reading over this, and they make it sound alot more complicated than it really is, It seems the programming is confusing people but that's because people are re wiring the device to preference. It does the same job as a midi keyboard but lights up.

  • 1:10 is amazing, holy shit.

  • what you need to have to use this apart from de pc?? any spftwareor it comes with it?

  • @juandv93 Its essentially a midi controller. What you are seeing/hearing is far more about the software and the samples that have been prepared in advance.

  • nice little thing

  • this is sick! i want one!

  • Sweeet :)

  • At 1:10 its the dopest beat ever, I want more of it.

  • @Henri111 I second that! Please make a track of it dspielman!!

  • u should check out daedelus if u havent heard of him, hes the whole reason i got into this sound

  • I love Daedelus

  • @Henri111 Man...how cant you love Daedelus?!

  • I dont believe any can not love Daedelus!? I have seen him 2 time and both times... AMAZING, talked to him too and he was super humble and nice.

  • ye its cool. go to the iNudge website... they got something like this but software.

  • @2Luke iNudge is much closer to a Tenori-on, than a monome.

They look similar, but actually could not be more different.

  • Damn! I know what's going on my wishlist this year... this is nasty.

  • Comment removed

  • why is this the sweetest thing i've ever seen in my life?

  • What program is this thing running?

  • It's running patches in a programming language called Max/MSP, ( it's often used to manipulate sound.)and pulling samples from a library.
