I remember back when I was 4 or 5 when I first saw him on the voyagers and even at that age I was fixated on him. I remember seeing the commercial for cover up and couldn't wait to see it on t.v. When I did I was glued to the tube. From then on he was permanently engrained in my mind. I have seen good looking guys since Jon Erik Hexum, but noone comes remotely close to his beauty. His face, body, and voice. He was perfect. Still perfect. R.I.P

That just draws people even more to him. I know he had a lot of humility about his looks, I sometimes wished the media would have gotten over that. He had a lot of big dreams-was opening a production studio and wanted to do serious roles.

JEH died in 1984 on the set of his show Cover Up when he was fooling with a prop gun and accidentally shot himself in the head at too close a range. That changed Prop gun laws and regulations for Hollywood. He was in a coma for about a week and then declared dead by his family. His organs went to help many others.
Jon-Erik was, no doubt about it, the MOST PERFECTLY HANDSOME-SEXUALLY HYPERPOWERED man that ever existed. Perhaps he left us soon because the Earth was not worthy of so much beauty walking on it, so he returned to paradise, where he surely must have come from.

We had an exchange student from Iceland my sophomore year of high school that was the spitting image of this guy. I had forgotten about Jon Erik by that time but a few years ago when I got ahold of Voyagers on DVD I could not believe how much the exchange student and him looked alike! I'm wondering if they were related somehow. Like, WOW.
Still, how much do you know about Jon-Erik's family? I saw in an interview that his Dad's name was Thor, the exchange student's middle name was Thor. G-d He was so gorgeous. And we share the same birthday, November 5th. Jon-Erik was only 26 when he died, 4 years older than I was at the time. He was so young, talented and handsome. What a horrible tragedy.

We had an exchange student from Iceland my sophomore year of high school that was the spitting image of this guy. I had forgotten about Jon Erik by that time but a few years ago when I got ahold of Voyagers on DVD I could not believe how much the exchange student and him looked alike! I'm wondering if they were related somehow. Like, WOW.

That's cool. I think it's probably the Nordic/Icelandic roots that make the similarities. Jon-Erik was also Icelandic. Thanks for the comment.

Still, how much do you know about Jon-Erik's family? I saw in an interview that his Dad's name was Thor, the exchange student's middle name was Thor. I know, that's probably common in Iceland but you wouldn't believe how much they look alike. There's got to be relation there somewhere. I'm not crazy! LOL

I don't think you're Crazy! LOL..I know his father was from Iceland, but his mother was born in Minnesota. Other than that, who knows how many relatives were floating around from the 'home country.' Too bad you don't have a picture! lol

Actually I have a few, they're not the greatest though..kinda dark and not close-ups. The only close-up I have is in our yearbook and I can't really scan a page without tearing it out...lol.

I am hebridean scots and we have icelandic
roots.According to a translation I read of
the sagas some of my ancestors sailed with
Leif Ericksson and Bjarni etc on expeditions
to Vinland.I thought Hexum was a mix of
Norwegian and Icelandic though.

Nice Video! I like the choice of song. I have seen so many of his interviews, he was just a regular down to earth guy and was actually quite observant and intelligent. You also do not get any better looking in the Northwest European department. There are many different types of good looks but he gets the Norse award.

He held a gun up to his head and unintentionally shot himself on the set of his tv show Cover Up. It was a mere accident that cost him his life. He died on Oct. 18, 1984.

I remember him and those two shows. I cried when he died. So sad. I don't even know what made me look him up on this site. So glad I did. Beautiful slide show. What a sad loss.

Absolutely gorgeous. I'm old enough to have had a crush on him when he was alive and remember his death - very very sad.
Gorgeous looking bloke - and apparently gorgeous by nature too, his one time girl friend Emma Samms (the 2nd, prettier Fallon in Dynasty) has made commemts on his lovely nature.
I hear his heart lived on - it was used as a transplant.

Boy! What sort of a bad karma took someone so beautiful, young, and talented? I've noticed the candidness of his eyes in all of his photos. His eyes are a cross between an aquamarine & sapphire blue. It almost rare to find one with features like John. This actor is perfectly flawless. If he were still alive today, aging will only make him look even better. RIP.

Beautiful description of his eyes:) I've also heard them described as the color of the Adriatic sea. I'm sure he would have aged gracefully, no need for the plastic and horrid face lifts, eye pulls and whatever else these celebrities do to themselves today.

Masterpiece! Unforgettable tribute to a rising Star who was Immortalized by tragedy and who achieved in death, the "Stardom" most of us fans already saw in him. This "Work of Art" captures Jon-Erik Hexum as he will forever be remembered...the "Ideal Man" admired by women and men alike. His looks, charisma, and physical presence aside, he was a genuinely nice person from what I read. I've moved past, "what could have been," and now only see him as he is...Immortal!
