Yes pitbulls were selectively bred, but not entirely for fighting. Long ago when they first came over from England they were "game" dogs, wanting the ability of terriers with increased strength to handle tougher situations as catch dogs, guardians, hunting. Some were trained for fighting but that wasn't their purpose. It was only recently within the past 30 or so years that they were raised with different purposes, such as dog fighting, because the years of their original purpose is long past.
A GAME DOG is one who can kill other things at the drop of a hat with NO THOUGHT TO ITS OWN SURVIVAL.

The most aggressive breed of dog is in fact the dachshund followed by the chihuahua. Pit bulls and rottweilers didn't even make the top 10 if I remember correctly.

Any dog can bite and hang from an object...including a little chihuahua. Look into the history of a "pit bull." Not bred to fight. State your references.

@TheWarloghe Pits were orrigionally bred for 2 things. To be the ultimate fighter in the pit and the ultimate companion outside of it. All the natural human agression was bred out of them in the first few generations and has to be beaten back into them by anyone cruel enough to do so. Under normal circumstances they are the people pleasers, safe even around children. Until just a few years ago pits were THE American dog. They take a lot of training and socialisation but they are worth it.

You can look up statistics on bites and agression at reputable breeding sites. Drovers and sporting breeds are far more likely to be agressive and biters than any pit.
I support the practice of euthanising animals proven to be dangerously agressive but to slap this label on an entire breed because of the practice of some of it's owners is foolish and grosely unfair.

As the owner of a pitbull terrier, it hurts to see how people think these dogs are insticntivly going to just bite peoples heads off and kill young children. They are a cool breed. They arent bad dogs at all. The dog does have large and strong jaw muscles though, which is why some people beat them and train them to kill. Hungry pitbulls might hurt someone yet they are just searching for something to eat. I love my dog and when these pitbulls are kept loved, they can be some of the nicest dogs..
The dog which is now called the pitbull was one of Englands first exports and was sold to people in Europe over 2500 years ago. Also you can find pictures dating back to the middle ages of these dogs and from the 1500s they were named bulldogs because they were used to fight bulls or bears. Just because you give them a new name does not make pitbulls new dogs.
I'm watching this with a sleeping 11 and a half week old pit puppy sleeping in my lap and I can't imagine putting her through any of that cruel bullshit. I feed her the best food and go running with her everyday in the woods. She will have a better life than most dogs in the world.

It happened when Kelcee was getting off the school bus.
He says the dog's owner, Clinton Woosley, saw the dog get loose.

CHEYENNE — A woman was hospitalized for treatment of injuries she suffered when a pitbull running loose attacked her.
Sgt. Rob Dafoe identified the woman as 39 y/o Nicole Keller. He said the dog bit her on her lower body.
The intact, male dog charged at an officer, who fired at the animal with a rifle but missed it. Cheyenne Animal Control officers later found the dog at its owner's residence nearby.

WESTMORELAND COUNTY, PA - A local community held a fundraiser to help a boy who was attacked by a PITBULL in Westmoreland County last month.
Hayden Stoll, 5, was attacked by the stray dog on Nov. 18 while he was playing in his front yard. Stoll suffered serious injuries and recently had a metal plate attached to his jaw.

Great video. Definitely gets the point across. I have always been an animal lover and felt I have never been stupid enough to believe that pitbulls or any animal for that matter could be aggressive at heart. They are trained to be, just as any dog/human could be. I now have a 9 month old APBT at 65 pounds. I would trust my 4 year old nephew around my dog Sadie than my mother's 5 year old 4 pound toy poodle. Pitbulls are definitely a breed above the rest that gives the most unconditional love.

Previously she had met him about 4 times and knew who he was and was never threatened by him since the first introduction. So her prey drive kicked in, he was nipped end of story.
I say nipped because that's exactly what it was, a nip. Nothing close to a pitbull mauling. Herding dogs nip, fighting dogs maul and kill.

Yes pitbulls were selectively bred, but not entirely for fighting. Long ago when they first came over from England they were "game" dogs, wanting the ability of terriers with increased strength to handle tougher situations as catch dogs, guardians, hunting. Some were trained for fighting but that wasn't their purpose. It was only recently within the past 30 or so years that they were raised with different purposes, such as dog fighting, because the years of their original purpose is long past.

I have a pit bull, and he doesn't hang from trees. That is just a silly statement. Trainers sometimes use this as a way to train. The dog does not do this on his own free will. Any dog can bite and hang from an object...including a little chihuahua. Look into the history of a "pit bull." Not bred to fight. State your references.

@TheWarloghe Pits were orrigionally bred for 2 things. To be the ultimate fighter in the pit and the ultimate companion outside of it. All the natural human agression was bred out of them in the first few generations and has to be beaten back into them by anyone cruel enough to do so. Under normal circumstances they are the people pleasers, safe even around children. Until just a few years ago pits were THE American dog. They take a lot of training and socialisation but they are worth it.

@Dinuial I agree with you on some of this, but the human aggression was not bred out like we were thought to believe. I thought the same thing too but someone was able to cross-reference dog fighting cards to registered pitbulls with ROM titles.
I do believe it takes a special type of owner to own any FIGHTING BREED DOG. I actually think pitbull owners should be licensed and insured.
If not, then pitbulls should be euthanized as soon as they show up at the dog pound.

You can look up statistics on bites and agression at reputable breeding sites. Drovers and sporting breeds are far more likely to be agressive and biters than any pit.
I support the practice of euthanising animals proven to be dangerously agressive but to slap this label on an entire breed because of the practice of some of it's owners is foolish and grosely unfair.

As the owner of a pitbull terrier, it hurts to see how people think these dogs are insticntivly going to just bite peoples heads off and kill young children. They are a cool breed. They arent bad dogs at all. The dog does have large and strong jaw muscles though, which is why some people beat them and train them to kill. The dog which is now called the pitbull was one of Englands first exports and was sold to people in Europe over 2500 years ago. Also you can find pictures dating back to the middle ages of these dogs and from the 1500s they were named bulldogs because they were used to fight bulls or bears. CHEYENNE — A woman was hospitalized for treatment of injuries she suffered when a pitbull running loose attacked her.
Sgt. Rob Dafoe identified the woman as 39 y/o Nicole Keller. He said the dog bit her on her lower body.
The intact, male dog charged at an officer, who fired at the animal with a rifle but missed it. Cheyenne Animal Control officers later found the dog at its owner's residence nearby.

Hayden Stoll, 5, was attacked by the stray dog on Nov. 18 while he was playing in his front yard. Stoll suffered serious injuries and recently had a metal plate attached to his jaw.

I cried and am pissed, I look at my pit/boxer mix and think, how? I fact when I started to cry my loving dog came running over to make sure I was ok. I am currently using my dog in jucture with a group called Angel Paws to restore the rightful image of all "bully" breeds. They need lots of love, training, running room, play time and human interaction. Delivery Driver Helps Woman Being Attacked By Pitbulls
Pueblo, CO – Two pitbulls attacked a woman so violently that she had to be flown to Denver for treatment.
The victim was walking by a home and the dogs ran out and attacked.
Police say the pitbulls dragged the woman down the road by her hair and that she injured her head severely.

Police were forced to shoot a pitbull that turned on its owners and charged at officers.
Six people, were home when the pitbull, named LOCO, attacked ITS OWN PUPPIES.
Olafson said the dog would charge and attempt to attack anyone who came near her to stop her from killing HER OWN PUPPIES.
“To stop it, family members contacted police,” Olafson said. “When officers arrived, the dog also charged officers.”

@TheWarloghe I don't own a Pit Bull Terrier, nor have I ever owned one, Since I was little my family had a rottweiler(my dad's) A Lhasa Apso(My sisters) Two and 2 miniature schnauzers(me and my mom's) And I honestly don't see how owning these dogs makes us racist. We got our rottweiler from a friend who's dogs had puppies, my mother bought him as a present for my dad. The same with our Lhasa, we knew a breeder, and got the dog as a present.

TX - A girl was rescued by a neighbor as she was being attacked by a PITBULL.
Brenda Jimenez was simply walking to her friend's house, when the pitbull next door, decided to attack.
Fortunately neighbor Alfredo Acuna was driving by when the attack was underway.

The only places you can see a real pitbull anymore is either in a fighting ring or in the country where they are used as working farm dogs(herding, hunting, sporting etc.) But you go down the street, and its one beef bull after the next!

Anyone who has ever witnessed Pit Bull aggression is shocked by the level of ferocity these dogs display. They come hard, with everything they have, and do not stop coming. This has long been a desirable and positive trait of the breed. It is called GAMENESS.
Pit Bulls were selected and culled on the traits of their gameness. The size of the animal was irrelevant. A SMALLER DOG WAS OFTEN BETTER SKILLED.

Pitbull Attack Leaves 5 y/o Pittsburgh Boy 'Soaked in Blood'
5 y/o Hayden and his sister were playing on their front lawn when an 80lb. Pitbull ran into the yard and attacked Hayden, pinning him to the ground and CLAMPING ITS JAWS AROUND HIS FACE.
The girl ran into the home and told her father, “There’s a dog killing Hayden!”
Hayden’s father ran outside and tried to pry the dog’s jaws loose, the dog would not release. The child was unconscious as the dog continued to shake him.

IL- A pair of dogs described as PITBULLS were captured after they attacked their owner.
The woman had suffered serious injuries during the attack and was taken to the hospital in critical condition.

Great video. Definitely gets the point across. I have always been an animal lover and felt I have never been stupid enough to believe that pitbulls or any animal for that matter could be aggressive at heart. They are trained to be, just as any dog/human could be. I now have a 9 month old APBT at 65 pounds. I would trust my 4 year old nephew around my dog Sadie than my mother's 5 year old 4 pound toy poodle. Pitbulls are definitely a breed above the rest that gives the most unconditional love.

@StefyStuff I have an 85 lb bitch that's fear aggressive and never had to worry about her attacking a child. 4 years ago she nipped a neighbor's heel when he rode by on a bike.
Previously she had met him about 4 times and knew who he was and was never threatened by him since the first introduction. So her prey drive kicked in, he was nipped end of story.
I say nipped because that's exactly what it was, a nip. Nothing close to a pitbull mauling. Herding dogs nip, fighting dogs maul and kill.

@TheWarloghe What people fail to realize is that the american pit bull terrier is just that, a terrier, a dog that was bred to attack and kill other animals, when you don't properly socialize a dog like that, and you introduce a small, crying baby, you are going to have problems, the thing with APBT's is that they lack submissive skills, they will never submit when in attack mode, once they have a target, they won't back down unless the owner has taught them the "release" command.

So many pitbull nutters deny the role genetics plays in canine behavior. Just search on Youtube for "The Silver Fox Experiment" and you'll understand what I'm talking about.

@TheWarloghe I'm going to tell you the truth, when I was little, I thought that pitbulls were pure evil, my cousin had a pitbull, she was very sweet, and I thought, well its just cause she's a girl. It took me until I was 8 to realize my fear was based on ignorance, when I was 12 I became interested in the breed, I began to research the breed, and defend it, I thought I knew everything, but I was wrong, There was one thing that really broadened my horizon...

@StefyStuff I've seen enough pitbull propaganda videos, I am really tired of seeing them.
Anyone would consider something is wrong with your "save all the pitbulls" cause. There is so much pitbull propaganda on the internet.
The need to defend a breed so often and so viciously, well, common sense people realize there is a problem with the breed. Maybe they can't define it; however they know a problem exists.

@TheWarloghe Thats what so important about this video, it doesn't just defend pitbulls trying to make them seem innocent, because they are not like other dogs, they were never bred to work in packs, unlike all other dogs so they lack the ability to submit. Typically, when pitbulls attacks are reported, 2 dogs involved. People see pitbulls and they run, if you run from any dog with prey drive, it will chase you and usually try and ump on you but dogs designed to hunt will take it a step further
