Me and a couple of friends are going to St Louis on Jan 29th for WWE Royal Rumble. We're thinking about going up the Arch the next day. I hope we do go up it, I've always wanted to go up it.
I'd love to come visit the arch again some day. I visited the arch July of 2007 and I ended up not going to the top. It turned out to be a good idea since later that day the trams' power failed trapping lots of people in the tram cars and at the top of the arch. I'd love to come back and ride to the top of the arch.
I didn't know this was a Montgomery elevator, but I guess this was their best custom project ever. In fact, I went to the Gateway Arch in 2001 on a trip to Oshkosh, Wisconsin to an airshow, and in addition, went to the Gateway Arch when I went through St. Louis. It certainly was an adventure.
if you want to see a small elevator, you need to come to kansas city and come to the kansas city power and light building to see the 1928 otis elevator!
did they replace the outside doors???? . did the old ones had glass that matched the inside doors???
hope they don't replace the inside doors as it is cool to see the electric conduits-boxes and even a room with a workbench and a cheap "shop-light" fixture
I went there

I wonder if there are any videos of anybody walking up or down that stairwell that snakes around the tram.

So is that like an elevator "train" with multiple cars that go up and down as one?
giggleblaggle 8 months ago
That takes for ever to get to the top.

Why are there several different doors?

This is cool but it's small. I've been here. If ur in one of the first four cars u will see a window and u can see the tram come down.
