Dear Friend, the people who suffer for good deeds in this world, they are given high reawards in the heavens. Shah did great many things for his people, but large no. of his own people revolted against him. Without the help of Shah's traitors, the US or Brits could never be successful. However, my parents' generation didn't give up "reason" and "logic." Had those been there, there wouldn't have been a revolution in the first place. The Shah himself was a most outspoken Islamist, who had a mystical dream as a child of Imam Reza "rescuing" him.
It's for that very reason that Ayn Rand despised today's pro-religion, pro-mysticism conservatives more than the worst, big-government liberals, even though conservatives advocate small government.

Two pieces of advice for you:
1) Don't alienate the people you're trying to persuade. Imagine the result, if the first page of Atlas Shrugged had read: "You assholes deserve all the misery that's in your life. Now, be open-minded and read my book."
2) Forget Iran, and focus on improving America. Mysticism will never die in Iran until it has died in the United States.

What he was saying was for the benefit of all, especially the United States long-term. His vision were far more reaching than what other countries with their inflated egos could grasp. What was he thinking talking common sense when they felt they were being dictated to. As he foresaw without Iran policing the middle east troop presence would be needed, but not sufficient since Iran had 750000 well equipped troops safeguarding it. They are all sorry they overthrew him but will never admit it.
