@asmartfellow uuuuuuuummm no. weed, acid, shrooms and analog chems are amazing and give you an incredible outlook on life on an introspective level. drugs are a beuatiful thing and people like you who go around without any experience with them shouldn't demonize something that is so amazing.
@kittygobark1 ...not everyone needs drugs in order to have an incredible outlook on life. Drugs + me, would probably = horrible panic attacks (well, worse ones). I don't need drugs. Some of us see into life naturally...I've had people tell me about their psychedelic drug experiences and shit and I would often think, "I've experienced something almost exactly like that, without drugs" but I wouldn't tell them that because they'd think I was insane. Well, more-so.
@kurtywurty85 i agree....i had a bad experience with drugs and i can tell you that it doesnt have much of an outlook on life...drugs can be used in a positive or negative way...but most people use it in a negative way. ill be lying if i said i wasent one of them before
4 peoople are fucking stupid. also , animal collective will always be amazing , how can a band as original as animal collective easily pander to an audience anyway ?
animal collective is just simply amazing and i fear that if they go mainstream its just not there look cause there not in it for fame or money just trippin on lsd and makin balla ass music :3
I can't explain how this makes me feel. I listen to this song so much and it still gives me chill bumps, makes my heart race. It's so beautiful I feel on the verge of crying everytime I listen to Davey's voice. Great to listen to on a dark night in the woods while smoking.
@dtbails my friend told me. they all do solo stuff now. Plus, they've been around for a very long time dude. Since like the mid 90's! ODDSAC and their Fall Be Kind EP were their last things together. However, I'm not completely sure how correct my friend was though, so if I'm wrong, then my bad! haha
@robloftus13 No, they're taking time off man, merriweather tour was 2+ years long they need time to relax and be with their friends, family, and themselves. Give them time to breathe! haha. First album, "Spirit They're Gone Spirit They've Vanished", was released in 1999 by avey and panda and released under that band name, you should check it out.
@robloftus13 no problem, I think they're still touring some dates for ODDSAC, and deakin is doing his solo tour I think he plays chicago on the 19th you could check that out if you live in chicago, or close by. And Panda's been doing his solo thing, if you live in NY Avey plays a solo show, I think, at glasslands very soon.
though i overplayed it and dont listen to it anymore, Fall Be Kind ep just blew me away. actually prefer it to Merriweather. as one unit of their work i think its the best. though not better than the first half of Sung Tongs, if that was ep.
i think what he's trying to say is that this is what LSD would sound like if it was put into music form. and besides, there are auditory illusions that distort normal sounds, and sometimes they sound like this, so fuck yourself
@tylerf1069 in general. why is everybody tryin to be better than everybody. how do you know that person has tried lsd or not. burn this into your minds THE EGO IS NOT YOUR AMIIIIGOOO.
So is Fall Be Kinds studio version perfect? I am not going to listen to the studio version until it comes out on CD. I am asking for it for Christmas. I can't wait.
quite awesome! i have to say that i can agree with both sides. I would much rather here somebody blasting animal collective then the stupid shit we here everywhere we go it seems. On the other hand, ive known this band for awhile now and i would hate to see little gay hippster, hippie wannabee losers listening to it. I would be happier if smarter individuals listened to them.
i liked animal collective more before mpp. i don't know why. i'm not someone who is a musical elitist by any means, i just feel like ac used to be more special, like it used to be underground. i can't help but cringe when i hear it blaring away in american eagle. :(
I completely agree. I love the new stuff, I will admit, it is really good I think. But I really do miss the feeling of showing a friend something from Sung Tongs or Spirit They're gone and having them dislike it and classify it as "weird". I liked that it was some strange new music that I found and no one knew about. I was in an urban outfitters and a song came on from mpp and it really took me by surprise. Either way, A.C. is still one of my favorite bands.
@Picapacapopo Lawl I just said that to get everyone fired up, but AC, Explosions and Grizzly Bear are pretty good. Haven't really listened to passion pit or mgmt or mogwai
then don't shop there...just kidding but at least you can have some relief in knowing that this song and so many others of theirs will never be played in there or on any tasteless commercial radio station.
you're an idiot. the fact that this type of music is becoming more popular is a blessing, not something to lament. i would rather go out in public and hear someone i don't know blasting animal collective than miley cyrus. animal collective is slowly but surely making the world a better place. quit your whining.

@LadyUrsusss you obviously also missed the rest of what you quoted me on... 'inevitably play it out'... the day that an animal collective song feels played out to me, is a very bleak day... i don't think musicians will create things legitimately crazier and more enthralling than an animal collective song
@hstarcrew This is true, but the fact is, that usually, as a band becomes more and more famous, the more they fall into the public demand, and turn into, Lil Wayne, OutKast, Arcade Fire, Passion Pit, and the Postal Service. The point is that bands that used to be underground that made good music, turn mainstream and sell out to public demand and from then on their music sucks.
@SECK1TTUKREW that isnt always true. also the bands you listed as examples are pretty bad, lil wayne works, outkast doesnt at all they never sold out, arcade fire also released a great album this year, passion pit and the postal service have both only released one album
@SECK1TTUKREW I really have to disagree with you on a couple of your examples. The Postal Service gained popularity but they only released one album, which makes it kind of hard to "turn mainstream" the one album got more popular but that's because it's a good album. Personally I think that Ben Gibbard still writes amazingly fresh and interesting music, and I think the same is true of passion pit, although it's entirely a matter of opinion.
They had a music video in pretty high circulation back in the day (Such Great Heights), so kind of. Of my generation, late 80's/early 90's, they're probably known fairly well, say by one in four at least.
The pure intuition animal collective has when it comes to turning a sight into sound is beyond anything I can fathom music becoming at this point...they truly are avant garde.
Wow, I forgot how beautiful this one was. If they can improve on it as much as I think they can for the Fall Be Kind EP, it's going to be one of their best songs.
