  • I just got the same midi controller of yours. do you know have to function yours? It seems a little complicated to assign the rotary knobs. let me know.

  • @Ezmoneybeats Honestly man I haven't gotten all into the rotary knobs yet...Im about to get lessons and will have my teacher explain all of that to me...Sorry!

  • @thecominggrace Some people don't really need it. i had a pair of monitors that were pretty loud with some amplifiers.

  • @DixiFreely I just learned something to.. you could buy an amplifier for your monitors to help adjust the gain of it.

  • @Willywill43 Thanks for the info...I will do my due diligence regarding this...Thanks and stay in touch!

  • Why do you have two monitors?

I don't get that part lol

  • @Willywill43 Thanks for viewing...The sound of the AV30's just wasn't big enough by themselves lol...I'm gonna do a review on them soon and I will be ugrading to a set of Mackie Mr5 real soon as well!

  • @Willywill43 you should look up "stereo audio" on wikipedia or something. cause.. that's why you would have two monitors.. why would you not have two monitors?

  • Fantastic video! Thanks for showing and explaining your equipment. Very nice!

  • @fuseman911 Thanks for checking it out!

  • Rip to your dad. When you said he was no longer with us my heart broke.

  • @RevocationTV Ahhh...Thanks for viewing and I really appreciate your comment!

  • @DixiFreelyTV Np, I subbed as-well. :P

  • Thanks for the awesome video....what keypad is that it would really be usefull???

  • @LyricalBiggs Thanks for viewing! Its the Targus Wireless Bluetooth Keypad Number pad which is currently unavailable where I got it (Ama...). They have many kinds, just make sure it works with your OS. Im using the Belkin Bluetooth USP Adapter with this. I actually have a vid for this too. Keep in touch!

  • Studio One Pro Is Dope And Easy To Use!

  • @PAYGEZ1 Super Easy! I luv it.

  • @DixiFreelyTV aye i hear that mane.. im suppose to be gettin a upgrade at my spot soon.. so if you wanted to collab or sumn hit me up bruh

  • @PAYGEZ1 I'll be in touch.

  • just bought this key board and i love it looks like a farrari out the box

  • @cure249 Yeah shes pretty!

  • Hey great vid! I would like some more info on the AKAI how do you exactly use it and that wireless controler thing. Also, if you can do a vid on your booth it'd be great. REally good job man! way 2 go, you re an inspiration. Generally, I d like some more info on how you use the equipment, and can you write in the description all your equipment? Thanx man

  • @AsgarthaWitch Thanks 4 viewing. There are vids for the wireless controller & booth on my channel...The booth vid was done with stills , b/c I didn't have a digital video camera at the time but I do provide text info in the vid...The Akai MP18 is a midi/USB controller. It doesn't have internal sounds, but rather lets you control sounds that you can load into your Daw. I use soundpacks from different keyboards & MPCs, dump a sound into my virtual sampler & play it with the Akai.

  • how the feel on those keys?

  • @ParkRangersTV Thanks for checking it out! Honestly, I have never owned any high end keyboards but compared the one cheap standard keyboard I used to have, its no difference.

  • Thanks alot for the feedback :) loved the vid! So if i use the At2035 what would be the essential equpiment for that to do a good job but at a low cost?

  • @21mrbaz No problem! All you will need is a Audio Interface. There are several out there. Be sure to read as many reviews as possible before selecting one. The one I have was $150 in 2010, but I'm sure you may be able to find one cheaper than that on Ebay or Amazon now. Don't get the M-Audio Fast Track...PofS! Also most A.I.s come with recording software. Be sure to get a pop screen. Check the a out a audio clip on my channel called my whole life. Second guy uses AT2035!

  • Just a few quick questions, If im using the MXL 990 will i still need all that equipment?

Which is a preffered mic, At2020 or the mxl 990??

How much for all the equipment??

And can you use a regular keyboard?

  • @21mrbaz Thanks for checking out the vid. Well the AT2020 is a USB mic and the MXL 990 is a condenser mic that will need fantom power. It really depends on how much you want to spend. If you go the USB route, you won't need anything else. The Blue Spark, AT2020, or AKGP120 are all good USB mics. If you go the condenser route, you will need a audio interface, which has fantom power, to use a condenser mic. The AT2035 and AKG P220 are both better than the MXL in my opinion.

  • @21mrbaz I personally didn't like the MXL on my voice, but you may. My set up was a little over $2K but you won't need everything I have. The Blue Icicle is the cheapest A.I. I have seen. If your regular keyboard has a USP port or a midi output you can use it. If midi you would need a A.I. that has a midi input like the Audiobox I use.

  • are you hooking ur mic straight into your presonus to record & where can i here material u recorded with it

  • @blingmast Hey man thanks for checking out the vid.. I'm running my mic through the Presonus Tubepre and running the tubepre through the Presonus Audiobox Audio Interface...You can listen to my mixtape on my website (link in description) and I used the setup you see in the vid for the entire mixtape.

  • This sucks dude, your doing great work but using 6 year old hardware?! Replace that monitor and pc! you deserve better then that old sht. you deserve tri montitor setup. a bigger desk. better pc

  • @iToasterman Lol, when money starts falling from the clouds, I will upgrade the very next day. Until then....#Babysteps!

  • @iToasterman If his audio hardware(the soundcard and mixer) still work than good. I use old stuff and it does great.

He needs a better storage solution and screen the most.

How in the hell does the pc slow when you load it up and put it on external drives to relieve the issue? Learn computers and do not use external drives for day to day use. Way too slow.

  • @JustineBieberxoxo 1. You need to learn computers, im running my own multi os network with a ubuntu server. 2. Your comment makes no sense. 3. Loading from a external hard drive is slower. Leaving files on your main disk wont slow the machine. Just enable indexing.

  • @iToasterman Ubuntu server and you know computers? If you knew computers that well, you'd serve with BSD.

And how does indexing help here exactly? Indexing has nothing to do with the actual loading of files.

Looks like you read about pc's back in the day of MFM/RLL drives.

  • @JustineBieberxoxo If i knew computer that well i'd use bsd? Fuck no. I'm probably going to use arch or ubuntu 11.10. Indexing helps even the slowest machines run faster and load files faster. Your idea is to use a external hard drive and load everything, on a usb 1.1/2.0 connection.

  • @iToasterman I explicitly said NOT FOR DAY TO DAY USE. As in: NOT like that, for backups and bulk storage for stuff you need seldom. And what harddrive still uses 1.1? Hm?

Indexing is for searching only. An index eliminates the need to look for the physical file but just has an entry on the location. If you mean the filesystem index you have everything backward, since there is no way to store anything without the FS index.

  • @JustineBieberxoxo Theres alot with 1.1 :/

  • Yo man I got one more question how would u set up the Behringer mixer into studio one? Like configuration wise because its not coming up in the "receive from" section when I "create new instrument"

  • @xCrAzYbOyx213 My apologies if I misunderstood one of your first questions...I'm not running the Behringer mixer through studio one. I run the Akai MPD18 and the Behringer midi keyboard through studio one. The mixer is simply used to control output (sound) from the Audiobox (audio interface).

  • @DixiFreelyTV shit my bad yea I ment how do u set up the audio box to work with the mixer cuz i think i need more chords but im kinda lost in the process of getting it to work. Sorry man.

  • @xCrAzYbOyx213 Np! I simply ran two 1/4 to1/4 cables/cords (left & right) from the audiobox outputs (where you would plug in your monitors/speakers) to a left and right input on the mixer (on the same channel). By doing this the sound from the audiobox will then be controlled by the mixer. Just remember this is sound coming out not going in, so the settings you have on the mixer won't effect what you have going into your DAW.

  • @DixiFreelyTV and how would I make the mixer effect work in Studio One cuz I did everything u said I just want everything to go into use when I record u knw? Sorry im askin so much I just wanna make everything work man. I really appreciate all this help

  • @xCrAzYbOyx213 I'm think there is a way to do it maybe like get a 1/4 to midi cable and connect it to the audiobox that way, but I'm not 100% sure how. I don't and wouldn't do it b/c studio has all of tools necessary to mix a record. Also and more importantly, using hardware doesn't sound as clean or good as software.

  • booth is pretty dope for being home made, props.

  • @LirasMind Thanks!

  • Great set up man I have the same Pre-Sonus set and Akai MPD 18 but what if my closet, where I record, is right next to my desk. I close the door to kind of sound proof it. Should I buy seperate material for sound proofing the closet or a mic stand that has a sound proof foam built on it if u know what I mean?

  • @xCrAzYbOyx213 Thanks for checking it out. Most people I know have gone the way of using reflection filters instead of closets and booths. My family and neighborhood is too noisy to do that, so I built a booth. If your setup, home and outside enviroment isn't that noisy, I'd say go with a reflection filter. If your enviroment is noisy you can either buy studio foam or use bedfoam to line your closet and closet door to help.

  • @DixiFreelyTV it's not that noisy so yea ima go with the reflection filter thank you so much man and keep up the hard work with ur music, much love!!

  • @xCrAzYbOyx213 No problem fam!

  • Hey man, do you think that the AV30's only are good enough or are they only okay in combination with the Numarks?

  • @adri50q Thanks for viewing! Honestly, I have buyers remorse with the AV30s...I am about to upgrade to some KRK Rockits or Mackie Mr5's...A friend of mine says the AV40's are not bad...

  • he uses the sword to slice beats up

  • @N08ODY LMAO!!! Now that is funny!

  • @N08ODY i have a sword that was my grand-dad's that was i tell people whn they as about it sub to V3NOMBEATZ PLZZZ :)

  • @N08ODY Thats what up...Sub coming your way!

  • @DixiFreelyTV alriight, thank you soo much. ill look for it on my e-mail

  • @TheWMTproductions Inbox me your personal email!

  • hey, love the video, im a beginner at making beats and i wanna get better at it but im not sure what programs i should use and what i should buy cuz i dont know much about any of the stuff. How did u learn to use all of the equipment? and what programs do u recommend i should use? and what beat pads and pianos, and other equipments will i need and which ones should i buy? please help me (: thank you

  • nice vid man, what do you use the mixer for?

  • @TomStoneMusic Thanks for viewing...I use it b/c my interface doesn't have enough ins and outs...With it, I can use multiple monitors, mics, headphones etc...

  • Africa

  • @DIAMONDBACK1997 Thanks for checking it out fam!

  • if i buy a Behrigner piano like yours would it work on reason 4 to make beatS?

  • @Seke509 Thanks for viewing...I have reason 4 but I have not tried to use the Behringer with it, so I'm not sure. I will have to re-install reason and get back to you.

  • @DixiFreelyTV aight let me know fam. i appreciate it!

  • can i use the behringer with windows 7?

  • @BMUSIK101 Thanx for checking it out bruh...From what I have read it does work with Windows 7 32-bit. 64-bit wasn't listed as a working O.S. It comes with its own interface and driver installation CD, but I didn't use any of that. I simply connected it via USB and Studio One recognized it right away. I hope this helps!

  • great studio bro

  • R.I.P. to your father, he brought up a smart successful son. Craaazy dope set up man, damn

  • @MusicDAnthony Thanks for viewing and a big thank you for your comments!

  • hey man, you got a pretty good setup but please, get rid of them m audio monitors, you just wasted ur money dude, monitors are the most important thing in your studio and m audio can't make monitors for shit.

  • @MistaMase102 Lol...Thanx for watching...Yes since having them a while I now know they aren't good for studio use...I'm about to get either the KRKs or some Mackies very soon....

  • @DixiFreelyTV good man, lol i was literally about to recommend those two companies to you for monitors, you cant really go wrong with mackie or KRK.

  • @what Ive been hearing. The M-Audios are about to become my 3yr old daughter's1st surround sound set lol.

  • hey hommie my eye lids gettn heavy shoot me an email if you find and answer or if you do any calab wrk. im in the mI 20min outside the D holla.. tight vid

    majestic.music.group.7@gmail.com

  • @MMG7319 No prob mine too gotta get up 5am for work lol...Yeah I'll rock witcha and let me know if you need more help! Peace!

  • hey what city u in you seem like a laid back cat

  • @MMG7319 Ight homie if you have your input knob all the way to the left you won't be able to hear any playbk b/c that would be all mic input. I have that knob at 50% (12:00) and have my headphones knob all the way right. This is another small flaw to the audiobox. I have my mic running into my tubepre and have the tube pre running into the mic input 1 (one on the left). I'm from Alabama but reside in STL. I'm a humble guy and was once in your shoes.

  • @MMG731 My bad I thought you said you couldn't hear it in your phones. If the change I suggested don't work you may need to re-install the drivers for the audiobox but 1st check your computers hardware sound device settings to see if you have the audiobox selected as the soundcard. What DAW are you using?

  • i believe its the second from the right side if your looking at it it says ahhhhhh.. input i think. im not near it .its outside in the studio. whats you mic hook to

  • hey Boss i have the presonus setup to but i cant get my mic to wrk. i can hear it in my head phones but when i arm the track ... NOTHN.... i have that little knob turnd all the way to the left and NOTHN... can u help me out

  • @MMG7319 Thanx for checking out the vid...You mean you have your mic running into the Audiobox? If so which knob to you have turned all the way left?

  • man that's great>>>>>but mpd18 has got 16 pads not 18..........

but you got a real cool setup.<dat's a great upload

  • @ashishaya Lol yeah I know, I'm going to make a annotation!

  • Man im having troubles .. setting up the midi keyboard with fruity loops or anything else... just the keys and pitch bend work nothing else.. i got the same midi keyboards as you.. help asap

  • @DjSoulsaver scratch that.. the bigger model i got the 610 .. still the question applies.

  • @DjSoulsaver Apologies 4 da late reply. I don't recall da UMX requiring a driver installation via CD...I think I connected it to my PC via USB and my DAW (Presonus Studio One) has a part on its start up page where you can list any external devices you are using and then it will detect them...1 of my partners Scam, has Fruity Loops and I think he is using a midi/USB Keyboard. He may be of more help since he has the same software. His email is scamagic@yahoocom. Hatemenow1986 is his YT channel.

  • @DixiFreelyTV Awhh great.. il ask him in that case :) thx for help.

  • What Up We've Love To Mix/Master Your Tracks! Google Us EmpireLabz

  • @EmpireLabz Thanks for the info!

  • a bro nice setup but the AKAI MPD 18 only has 16 pads not 18

  • @DJbeatdown1 Silly me lol...Thanks! I will add a annotation.

  • @CheckYesRCK Yes thats a good set up but the areas where you can cut cost are with your A.I. and monitors. Starting out you can get a nice set of DJ monitors like I have (numarks) until you can get real studio monitors. You should also look at the Blue Icicle A.I. Its cheap but I hear its good. A USB Mixer would kill many birds with one stone. It would serve as your A.I., preamp and provide you with flexibility. PC, AI or USB mixer, monitors, and mic is order I would go in.

  • nice! :)

  • @DimecheWorld Thanks for checking it out!

  • Nice... Very good information... Can you please make video or maybe tell me how to connect all cables. I don't understand how to connect cables from mixer to vocal booth, that is I can communicate with vocalist. and how to connect work station headphones with vocal booth, and how everything this connect with audio interface... Would you please explain.. It would be grate... Keep on!

  • @ridiska Thanks for the view and comment...I will put something together and upload it in the few days!

  • Great video ! I learnt everything I needed !

One question though : do I necessarily need a mixer if I only record piano and voice ?

  • @PiccadillyMan Thanks for the view and question...No you don't have to have a mixer as long as your soundcard/audio interface has both a mic input and instrument input...

  • how much did all that cost ??

  • @XxDrake852xX Thank for the view and comment...It was all about $1500 but I purchased everything piece by piece over a year's time.

  • Can I connect My laptop as a main source then send it to my monitors and headphones through this mixer?

  • @MarshallC3media Honestly, this is first time I've heard of this method/technique, so I'm not sure. It is a great idea though...I'm sure a DJ would know.

  • @DixiFreelyTV Is there a way to install the drivers on the audiobox without the CD?

  • Comment removed

  • @DixiFreelyTV ok thanks for the info

  • @DixiFreelyTV Can you make beats in studio one artist

  • @MrKelso2013 If im not mistaken, you can. I was strictly recording when I had S1A. I believe it only came with a few sounds, instruments and loops. When I upgraded to pro it came with tons.

  • How are you able to use the bluetooth keypad to control the DAW? seems like a pretty interesting setup, i was actually lookin into somethin similar for when i built my full booth & studio

  • @djsoulja0im0ME Hey! Thanks for checking it out...I actually have a vid/tutorial dedicated to this (plz see my channel). Basically, the number pad on the pc's keyboard, originally (I made no changes to the hot keys) controls different functions (stop, play, rec etc) in my DAW. Thus I decided to give a wireless one a try and it worked. Check out the tutorial and let me know if you have any more questions. Thanks!

  • @DixiFreelyTV Thanks for the reply, And you have a great setup, much better than a lot i've seen on youtube

  • @djsoulja0im0ME Ah thanks man...We all got to start from somewhere! Are you gonna post a vid of your setup?

  • @DixiFreelyTV i will eventually, gotta get it cleaned up lol. and when i get my new equipment in either September or October i'll post an update

  • thumbs up for the vocal booth! wish i had so much space too. keep going man!

  • @RaverWild Thanks for checking it out...Yeah I'm blessed to have the space, otherwise I would have used the closet in the guest room or bought a reflection filter and recorded in open space. Thanks!

  • Love the set up homie! just fyi on ya M-audio monitors, you got the left on the right, and the right on the left. lol. doesnt matter unless you wanna pan your vocals at some point. but good shit fam.

  • @TdougTV Thanx for the view and comment...Regarding the placement of the M-Audios, it was done intentionally. Being right handed I preferred my AI, Tubepre and mixer to be on the right. The drawback to that preference is the mainsource monitor for the M-Audios had be placed on the wrong side to compensate for the short cords I currently have...I dont do as much panning as this point but will invest in longer cords when I do...Thanx!

  • @DixiFreelyTV Ahh i feel you bro. Hey one question.... What kind of CD Duplicator do you got? im looking to get one thats fairly cheap.

  • @TdougTV Its a 22X Value Series SATA DVD/CD 1 to 7 Target Duplicator. I got it from duplicatorcentercom (YT won't let me add dots lol). It was $300 back then. If you can afford a lightscribe duplicator (prints images and text on the disc for you) get one b/c that would make duplicating a lot easier. I will post a video soon on DIY promo cds!

  • @DixiFreelyTV Alright thanks! preciate that! and yeah if you post a DIY video about doing promo cd's i would deff wanna watch that for tips!

  • @TdougTV Bet!

  • @TdougTV Also ck Amazon and Ebay. I saw a 7 drive on Amazon for $200 once but of course if was after I'd bought mine...Bad timining lol!

  • @DixiFreelyTV Alright right on! and aye have you thought about gettin the Comp16 or EQ3B by presonus? Im thinkin bout gettin the Audio Box, Tube Pre, Comp 16, EQ3B, and the HP4 all by presonus.

  • @TdougTV Presonus makes good stuff. I may get the EQ3B, but right now I use software for effects and editing. What DAW are you going to get. If you get the Audiobox it will come with Studio One Artist which is the easiest all in one program I ever used. Then once you master that, upgrade to studio one pro...More options, effects, loops (for beats) etc. I record, produce, mix, master, share music all with in studio one.

  • @DixiFreelyTV Right now i use cubase 5. but ive heard ALOT of good things about Studio One Artists. so im definitely gunna check that out! and yeah i will most likely upgrade. how much is an ugrade around 100?

  • @TdougTV Ironically the Audiobox used to come with Cubase before Presonus developed Studio One. The upgrade was $199 back when I did it but its worth every penny. If you go that route you may not need the comp and eq3b b/c S1P comes with a stupid amount of different ajustable compressors and eqs. I recored my whole album with S1A but re-mixed and mastered when I upgraded.

  • @DixiFreelyTV Hell yeah! wow i didnt even think about that! Thats goin to help me out alot! preciate it!

  • @DixiFreelyTV Wow! downloaded the demo of Studio one. i already love this shit. Love how it looks. Cubase kinda looks out dated, but this is nice! definitely getting the Audio Box, Tube Pre, and Hp4! but i cant decide what mic i want. either the Audio Technica AT2050 or MXL 3000. Sometime this week im gunna go to guitar center and see if they will let me test them out to see which one i like my voice on.

  • @TdougTV Thats what up man! Ur going about it the right way with due diligence! U can also google AT2050 vs that mic and even see if someone had a review, song or mic test on youtube for the MXL. G.C. kept pushing the MXL 990, but it made me sound airy and thats not my preference. Also ck out the AKGP420. The only flaw to studio one is it didn't come with a pitch corrector, but you can download a free VST plugin on line. U can use any outside plugins and programs in studio one.

  • @DixiFreelyTV Thanks man! Im about to google then now! good lookin out! i'll check out the AKGP420 also. Thanks.

  • Love the vid. Thanks for letting me take a peak at your work area. Your vids always have great sound. Keep them comin!

  • @patrickjn77 No problem! Thank you for watching!

  • nice setup man . . i just orderderd the umx 490 synth how do you find it??

  • @edwardgarvin11850 Thanks for the view and comment...If your asking, what I think of it; I think its pretty good and I'm still learning things about it. Its definately enough keys for me and gets the job done. I got mine online from a buy.com.

  • i was wondering how to make my vocals better and what could i use instead of my pc recording sound card, of firewire i dont know some stuff like pm me if you get this for some tips of what i need that would be a big help man

  • @daleleask1 Thanks for the view and question...I will inbox u!

  • Damn! you got everything!

    haha

  • @mwavreyav99 I wish!

  • WOOOO...I WANT THAT BO JACKSON POSTER..

  • @ruffdug Lol! Bo was the man!

  • I see that you have the audiobox usb and the tubepre. are the preamps in the audiobox not good enough?

  • @rodmaster7k Thanks for taking interest! I've heard the preamps in the audiobox are good, but I have never used them. The reason I have the tubepre is because its a tube preamp whereas the micpres in the audiobox aren't. A tube preamp gives you more choices of sound (warmth, color, etc) depending on the tube you want.

  • @DixiFreelyTV It seems that we're both budgeted studio artists and I have the Audiobox as well. I use it with a MXL V63M and I feel like I can get better sound out of the mic. Maybe the Tubepre is the answer?

  • @rodmaster7k Any preamp that you use will boost your signal and give a fuller sound, but a tube preamp will give you warmer smoother vocals if you use a tube thats built for warmth. I don't know anything about that mic so I can't say for sure what your results will be. I tested out a few MXL's before I selected my mic and I thought they made my voice sound airy and bright. But thats my voice and doesn't mean ish when it comes to yours.

  • I just got the av30s nice setup

  • @stlbeats Thanks Derrty! They are good for the price. I mainly use them for hi(s)!

  • Thank you so much for the tour, very inspiring. You've allowed me to see how nice my studio will be on my budget. Thanks for sharing.

  • @guitarlady46 Thanks for the view and comment! If you have any questions when you start your own, I'm here!

  • How much did your CD/DVD duplicator cost. I want to get one, but I don't know which one to get. I saw one on ebay that was called "Lightscribe Duplicator". You can put image or text on the disc with it also. But you can only use the lighscribe disc with it.

  • @sjp318 $300 from The Duplicator Center. Its a 7 drive duplicator...If u can get a lightscribe do so, it will make labeling easier and faster. It prints images and text on lightscribe disc...Otherwise u will have to manually label cds as i do with printed labels and a label applicator

  • oh shit a wireless keyboard thingy, I gotta get my one of those

  • @PainfulSerpentProTV Thanks man...Yeah it works...Belkin blue tooth dongle and Targus keypad...

  • looks fuckin sick yo

  • @PainfulSerpentProTV Thanx Homie!

  • i love looking at low budget setups, lol shits cool man do your thing

  • @o01q2w3e Thanks for the view and comment....Yeah when you're on a budget you have to get creative, which I also find to be interesting!

  • nice setup man yo u make beats man ?

  • @DangerousBTV Thanx! Yeah I make beats too, and I am working on getting a beat page set up on my site and soundclick!

  • Very nice beat!!!

  • @irydyka Thanks!

  • @irydyka Thanks!
