Recently, I nearly lost my job due to pushing myself to stay up till 2-4AM playing WoW and other games. My work performance went way down, costing me tens of thousands in lost income. I cut WoW out, and I find that I now fill that same time with other websites, other activities. I am now asking myself, 'what has the internet done for me in my life that is positive, and what has it done that is negative?'. I tell you now, the negative outweights the positive. I think its time to stop.
some new research is showing that welburtion affects the dopamine neurotransmitter increasing levels and folks with online addiction reports less symptoms after 6weeks of treatment.
I can relate too. My husband is addicted to online gaming and I'm addicted to Youtube, news sites and researching random things. When our internet got canceled because we were broke, we started pawning our stuff like crazy to pay the bill. Who cares if we couldn't pay our rent, we had to have internet access! I felt like a total drug addict lol
believe me your not crazy, for me it's the feeling of being able to access anything i want when I want not really information overload but more the comfort that the information is readily available. I got my first reality check about a year ago, i was changing ISPs & it took 3 months for them to give me an internet connection. I WAS WITHOUT A HOME CONNECTION FOR 3 MONTHS. I swear i went through withdrawel like a crack addict, anxiousness cold sweats seems ridiculous. I can definatley relate.
I am aswell, i think its normal for people who are very acquisitive too surf the web feeding the brain. Also i think that knowing that you shouldn't be on the computer or that you should be coming off but you want to see that one last thing releases horomones into the brain i an only imagen to be seratone. Giving you a slight buzz which u crave. Notice the feelings you feel when you're browsing and see if you can relate...? Maybe its just me :)
I go through waves of it, sometimes I cant seem to leave the computer alone, but I will surf for at least a few hours every day. but yeah ive been there from dawn till dusk before now.
I have the same problem and I am sick of it.

I the old days it'd be likened to staying up to watch the late late movie and watch the station sign off then see the test pattern. Insomnia?

I feel you, bro. I'm trying to work on it, too. (why I'm searching for internet addiction on youtube, obviously)

I'm addicted too. It's turned into an obsessive/compulsive thing for me and no one believes how serious it is.
