I know folks who work in their animation department. The sense I get from talking to them is the corporate leadership there has lost its focus on 'the story', and is only mindful of the quick buck. Maybe someday, they will realize that everything begins with the story, and the deep emotions portrayed by the characters.

Dreamworks has at least been partially successful in this regard........

I find this opening sequence (and the whole movie :D) One of Disney's best moments. It had so much meaning crammed into that scene. So beautiful.
