The loader is keeping a hold on the firemans sholder so when there 10 rounds left on the belt he can attach another so they dont have to open the breach to reload the weapon
his arm is around his sholder to pull the hand on the trigger away so the belt stops feeding loader watches the belt shooter watch the targets its a team weapon
@drkbladeknight We're trained to shoot that way. It's to help keep the gunner from moving backwards because his feet are planted on the two rear legs of the tripod.
The A gunner is telling the gunner where his trajectory is and how far to adjust the T&A on the mount. The A Gunner is also responsible to assist the gunner in keeping the weapon from moving out of a locked position during firing via recoil...
@drkbladeknight Kazidifide is also correct. The A gunner also assists in changing out the barrels and correcting jams. The A gunner is also responsible for humping (carrying) the secondary barrel (40 lbs.) and the cleaning/ maintenance bag (30 lbs.) while the gunner takes the barrel (40 lbs.) and the receiver (50 lbs) The A gunner also carries an standard issue M4 (4.8lbs.) or M16 (6.8lbs) and his gunners. Both Marines also rate the .45cal pistol or 9mm (4.2/ 3.9lbs). Plus 60lb. pack
@drkbladeknight the 50 cal like other machine guns when deployed feels like it has a very light to no recoil when fired just vibrations and the barrel moves of course im still green with machine guns i only fired the 240 249 50 cal and mk19 once during us weapon training for the us army in bct. i dont know why the gun has the hand over the shoulder, but mybe it is a for safety
jeez u can hear the rounds slapping against the tgt

Why is the (spotter?)'s arm around the gunner?
victorrain 4 years ago
either they're both gay (just kidding :P) or he's trying to brace him from the recoil.
