Tocchet embodied everything the Flyers were at that time. He is on my all time team. The intangibles he brings to a hockey club can put a team over the hump. Gotta love him.
nice technique punch to the ribs at :45 tocchet should have fought tank abbot. he would not have stand 10 secs never seen a man threw a punch like that
look at thta mustache pervert mcdonald thinking hes so tough probably all the flyers player could have wipe the floor with him. richter would have destroyed him
If you listen real closely, when the trainer bends over you can hear Baxter saying: "is he gone?". Then he gets up all ballsy and starts talking shit. PUSSY!
I grew up on the Tocchet Flyers of the 80s and he was awesome. He racked up the fights and PMs for the first few years, then added a nice offensive side to his game--almost 1000 career points. Cut out of the Terry O'Reilly mold, I'd take a team full of those kind of guys any day. Squinty you are right on--old time hockey.
Baxter was famous for his "turtle". He was a cheap shot specialist. Gordie Lane used to get booed all the time at the Nassau Coliseum until he got in a fight with Baxter and beat him up. Then he became an overnight fan favorite and was never booed again. LOL.
@wheebill Easy there........Im sure John Wayne would have won a cup....so please.. Im no Rick Tochett fan but that was pretty funny. Never saw that before.
@SuperThunderlips You need to check your facts. Tocchet won a cup with the Pens in '92.....Besides, his blood and sweat were the real deal. John Wayne was an actor
@wheebill You got me there.....he did win a cup with the Pens. I think he is a little over-rated. Tocchett wasn't a player that was gonna send your team over the edge talent wise.........you compared him to an American icon, I didn't.
Baxter was the dirtiest player of his time in the 80's. He threw punches as a third man in on more than one occasion in his past. He was known for attacking players when they couldn't defend themselves. This was just Baxter getting a taste of his own medicine. They need to get rid of the instigator so people can do this to Sean Avery and Steve Ott in the NHL today. You probably don't know about how hockey was played before the instigator. Your ignorance makes your comment seem foolish limpdick.
Clearly, I am dealing with what they call a "troll"... (Gaybasher 1981, great name) How the fuck would you hear what players have to say about another player??? well, one could READ or RESEARCH for starters, I know that is a difficult concept for an intellectual midget such as yourself to comprehend... Obviously, you have nothing constructive to say here and just randomly decided to pick me as your latest "adversary", either that or you are Paul Baxter
Paul Baxter was one of the CHEAPEST players ever to play in the NHL. He is universally detested by every player he played against, and I have never heard a single player from back then say a positive thing about him. Baxter was a dirty player, a stickman and a cheapshot. This isn't news to anyone familiar with the NHL in the 80s or the old WHA. Baxter's reputation is well known. You can say the opinion is a stupid one, but it is meaningless bluster if you can't back it up with anything.
I wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of Tocchet's punches, this is the same guy who bloodied up Cam Neely. Baxter deserved to get his face mulched in though.
Few Players have ever deserved every single beatdown or viscious check they ever received as much as Paul Baxter did. He was scum as a player, one of the biggest cheapshots that ever played the game. And he was a front runner fighter too. Against anyone tough, he would jump them and throwe 4 or 5 big left hands and then cover up as soon as the other guy started throwing back. He was similar to Randy Holt in that they were both small, crazy left-hand fighters. But Holt was actually tough
Tocchet embodied everything the Flyers were at that time. He is on my all time team. The intangibles he brings to a hockey club can put a team over the hump. Gotta love him.
