I know nothing about playing music at all, but i just love the sound of string instruments, piano(someone told me it wasnt a string instrument but i thought it was), and the saxophone
Some interesting fingering, I've never seen the opening played in fourth position. Great job, you are clearly very talented! I'm a cellist as well and I'm playing this piece in an audition in a few days. You are better than me and I'm a year older than you! *Must practice*
You're gonna be a great cellist someday. All the particular criticism in these comments is because we know you're skilled enough to take it and get better. Imagine when wisdom that comes with age is added to your technique! You'll be great :)
well played but i dont think much of the piece. it seems like mere virtuosity to me. perhaps a more suitable vehicle for a major talent would be the Elgar Cello Concerto (but then I am a double bass player :) )
What a nice playing of this concerto by this very talented youg musician. I first heard this piece played many years ago by John Martin, the longtime first cellist of the National Symphony Orchestra of Washington, D.C. Over the years my love for this piece has not only not waned, but gotten stronger.
stupid comments. what interpretation??? its the best I have ever heard. and since he's thirteen, i think its ok for his "interpretation" or whatever you call it to be different. why dont you start playing the violin and then talk.
@youwrotethis you are right the timing is off and it sounds like a blob of noise there but hes really good for thirteen he just need to play neater and a little slower and more precise but he is really good^^
have to say i think you take this a wee bit too fast, if you decrease the tempo a bit i think you could probably take much more advantage of these melodic passages, particularly at the start
@Arctronix I agree completely agree, I've just started learning this, and obviously on the first run through or so it's not going to be easy, but I think that if you know the piece by listening to it before learning it, you're going to find it much easier to learn it =]
...i didnt look this up after reading that or anything.. hahah shimizu is my fav char, i also play cello so when I first found out he played cello he autimatically became my fav char lol...
Haha I know right? I've been playing other stuff. I started with Suzuki but by the time I got to book ten I've started becoming more interested with other pieces. That and those aweful popper etudes...
I just received this music today... I've never played this piece before, or anything like it. And I can say that it is hard, just by looking at it and trying to sight read it.
Guh, Im playing this movement for my recital on monday. Its annoying because I've been working on it on and off since I was thirteen, but Im still no where near as good as you were when you played this. Im sixteen now. : /
I've been playing cello for two years, I'm 16 now, just "finished" learning this piece, in other words, I'm starting to polish it and memorize it. It is one of the most playful cello concertos I have ever heard.
It is not tallent...Is VERRY MUCH TRAINING;).... I know from my experience:) But still quite impressive, i do this concerto now, and i have almost 17 years...
I'm pretty sure it's impossible to "finish" a song...
But this was really enjoyable. Awesome tone. Although sometimes I got tense watching him raise his shoulders in high passages. And the lady behind him moved alot which was distracting... But that's probably just because I have ADD. And I like seeing people looks less concentrating in cadenzas... makes it look like it's just flowing from you.
wow!!! awesome!!! I am playing this concerto right now, I'm 15.
If you;re looking for constructive criticism, your right elbow is a little high, but it doesn't seem to hurt your playing that much. Also the intonation on those runs from the G string was a teensy bit off, mainly after the shift to 2st finger G.
I have a cd of Turovsky playing this concerto ( he is not only a conductor but a cellist) and he plays the JC Bach concerto on it also. I like how Turovsky plays them both. Also, interesting how the orchestra stands rather than sits.
She is a Venezuelan cellist who now resides in Miami, Fl her name is Maria Antonieta Salas, she actually did not really get to study with him since she had to move to the U.S but she auditioned for him and he was actually going to start teaching her..are u the cellist on the video?
