@mainentz It is called a climbing harness. At Mountaingear, a simple but adequate harness it will cost you $35 to $40. Locking carabiners are about $7.50 each. Instead of a climbing harness, you can also use 1" ($0.42/ft) or 2" (0.72/ft) climbing webbing; 10 to 15 feet will do; a piece of 4 to 5 feet to loop around your legs; the rest to tie around your waist; then use the carabiner to link the leg loops with the webbing around your waist. Webbing needs a special knot. Look it up.
@mainentz I am wearing a climbing harness with a locking karabiner on each side to connect the harness leg loop with an equipment loop on the main harness strap around my middle. I then use a lightweight karabiner to connect the ring strap to the locking karabiner. The strap is actually 10 feet of 8 mm static climbing rope (break strength 750 kg). Works very well for me, but of course I already had most of the climbing equipment. So it did not require much of an investment.
how much does it cost? (only the climbing vest at your wais)
