In the fall of 1970, "Bonanza" introduced this song as their new theme song. Other TV shows changed their intro theme songs, such as "Bracken's World" to honor the new decade. But the long time "Bonanza" fans protested against this song, and in the fall season of 1971, NBC-TV brought back the old original theme song. When "Bonanza" went into syndication the 1970 season was named "The Ponderosa". I liked the new theme, but I loved the old theme.

This was the Bonanza theme song from the last season of the show, the season after Dan Blocker passed away.

Actually, it was for the 1970 and 1971 seasons of "Bonanza". For the 1972 season (the last, ending in January of 1973) the show returned to a new version of the Livingston and Evans theme. My favorite!

This is an alternative theme to Bonanza ,I discovered this recently on a short lived Sky channel called "Bonanza" They also showed "The Beveley Hill Billies"which also had a different theme song without the usual words.I put it down to some copyright infringment ,but I'm not sure.

This was the U.S. Syndicated main theme credit music for Bonanza under the working title of "Ponderosa" in the end run Years of the Series.

Some episodes with this alternative Theme were shown in the U.K. by the BBC in re-runs a few Years back about 15Years or so ago.

Bonanza changed their theme song toward the end of its run in the early 1970's. This is the last Bonanza theme song. Its not as well known as the original one.
