to ottocars - HI! I know you as a great 917
enthusiast so I'd like to ask you if you can rate even approx.the top speed of these cars on Monza track main straight:I was there on practice days and I took nice shots at Rodriguez entering Parabolica,but I can't
remember anyth.about lap times and speeds.

i really dont know, my guess would be around 330 kmh.
in le mans it was close to 400 but the straight is much longer.
i was racing the 908 and 910 in monza but did not reach 300.
to ottocars - HI! thx.for infos. -
yes I recall the 917 long tail topping 385
and may a bit more in private testint session.
And Herrmann's 908 long tail 3000 was faster (on the straights)than Ickx's GT40 5000
eventhough Ickx was able to win the race at the last lap driving in the airstream and overtaking under brakes at the end of the
Mulsanne straight.
I loved car racing by then,
