Lou ur adorable! Im a c5 c6, 15 yr post injury & have never been able to figure out a self transfer. Could be my ever growing booty..haha. Anyway, just wanted to say u rock babe, keep up all the good help ur spreading! ;-)
Hey! I am paralized from the waist down & I think it is tricky enough to do things w/o just leg movement. I couldn't even imagine limited arm & wrist function.
Good work'. Nice balance. I'm a C 5-6 quad myself. Be cool if you could share this with our members on pushrim.com It's a social network for family, friends and survivors of spinal injuries.Tnx for sharing.
@nomaileric haha actually my spasms were so bad that i couldnt even feed myself but imade the decision to get the baclofen pump, since oral medicine wasnt working, put in me so that i could do everyday activities and live on my own.
@MrVodka122 Kind of, if he's strictly a c5 complete then he has no wrist function. This transfer should still be possible, I know someone who is a c5 complete that does it. I have partial wrist movement, thats where the c6 comes in.
Rapid, Im c5/6 since 2003 had some things get in the way of strength training but am on it this year. What exercises do you find most effective to help with transferring?
@jmccaf pushing my wheelchair is the biggest one, then doing the transfers themselves because technique and balance are more important than strength at first. Every now and then i use wrist weights and bands. if you get sore just stretch and get a massage.
@johnnycupakes I self cath, it fits my active lifestyle the best. Theres many ways to do it, all good, just have to find the right one for you. It took months of discipline to train my bladder... cant get anywhere without putting in the effort.Went from 4 hours to 5 and so on now I can push 8+. Its more complicated than that... ill make a video and blog post this week, k?
