To this day, I still can't understand why this decision hasn't been overturned, and Jones awarded the gold in retrospect. The fact that he was given the Val Barker trophy as the best boxer of the Games - the only time it's been given to a non-gold medallist - shows that the Olympic committee knew it was foul, and since then it's emerged that Korean delegates wined and dined the judges beforehand. If they can re-award gold medals years later for drug cheats, why not here for corrupt judging?

Very similar shame happend in 2002 FIFA World Cup Championship..
Look for this people: Byron Moreno (Ecuador), Gamal Al-Ghandour (Egypt), Peter Prendergast (Jamaica), all UNKNOWN referees, all coming from countries with no big footbal tradition. Using these and other similar people, they did a totally cheated championship.
I really don't know what is wrong in korean's head... They like to do shameful things...

This vid is absolutelly biased. I think that Jones won, but Park fought at high level. Park did an amazing job and effective agression in the second round, not so easy to Jones. Scandal? i agree, but the shame often happens in Olympics, and boxing particularly

He nearly landed 3 times as many punches. If he was Mexican, Russian, Australian, whatever, the outrage would have been this high. But because Jones jr went on to be what he is today, and he was the golden boy of US boxing, and boxing in general at these Olympics, it holds more weight.

Iv'e seen the whole fight. And it wasnt even as though the Korean contested 1 round. How he got the decision, is obviously by cheating. The only reason he never knocked him out, is because unless you fight at a higher weight class, it's rare to see knockouts in Olympic Boxing, with 3 rounds and all.

after the game, all 3 judge voted for Korean guy was suspended for 2 years. And after all, IOC found out that ALL 3 were bribed, therefore those 3 lost their licenses. And IOC gave Roy Jones Jr. a replica of Gold Medal.

I was stationed over in Korea for a year and had some Korean friends. Great guys, but one thing I do remember is how egotistical they were and how much they hated to lose. I guess most guys in any culture could be accused of that, but it seemed to be more so with the Koreans. Ray Mercer was lucky in that he knocked out his opponent.
