Hi all. I have a vintage 1968 jmp50 plexi head model number "1984" This is NOT a re-issue. Serial number s/11039. All original parts still intact and in perfect working order.
Send me a message if your interested and i will send you a link to my auction
Dude, this is proof that you don't need to buy the most high gain amp on the market to get ballsy fuckin' tone. Wish more people thought like you, there'd be a lot better sounding guitar players around.
I thought about the same rig but Gibson Les Paul Classic with Seymour Duncan Alnico 2 pro pickups, a Marshall 1959 SLP with a Marshall 1960 AV a 4x12.
Most of the gain is from the amp, the overdrive add a slight boost. The amp has the perfect amount of gain on its own with Emgs for me. The pedal just pushes it over the edge. I'll try to get better vids up soon.
wauu friend who sound undoubtedly change my jcm2000 by this amplifier, whether it is sound, but have told me that in order to make the most low-volume, I have to install a potentiometer master volume ...
Thanks for the comments. The presence knob was changed to a push/pull preamp gain. Effects loop was added, pull boost midrange knob that I don't use and switchable wattage from 50 to 100 watts. I purchased it with the modds and is now my main amp.
@rclegg hi mate gr8 video...but i wana take ur opinion in smthn...i have a choice between buyin a 1987xl reissue brand new for 1000$ and a 73 plexi used vintage for the same price....which one should i pick and why?
yeah, I know now. I tried it with a 100 watt jcm800 and they told me that when speakers have low wattage and are driven harder, they put out better sound.
Now this is TONE !!!!!

@Fatal1ty007 Zakk overdrives are actually a really good dirt box. The build quality is a little weak but it sounds great into a Marshall.

what's the song at the beginning that you play?
MihailTronix 1 year ago
At the start of the video it's an original. Then when it goes to live it's "Paint it black" by The Rolling Stones.

how loud is that? do your greenbacks flub up at gig volumes?
lookhowhighijump 2 years ago
Not very loud, maybe around 1.5 on the volume. I haven't gigged with this cab yet so can't comment on the flub factor.
rclegg 2 years ago
How do you control the volume?
topoftopanga 2 years ago
probably with the volume control....
ruffles272 2 years ago 2
@ruffles272 haha funny comment but usualy volume of plexi is controlled wd a power attenuator that u buy

Yeah i know i just couldn't resist lol

redlipstick678 2 years ago
would this be a good heavy metal amp?
dvaadelo 2 years ago
You would have to throw a pedal in front of it...I'd say yes for metal. But it has to be loud.
rclegg 2 years ago
Put a PPIMV in it and u get some gain at low volume. I wouldnt call it a heavy metal amp, its more about lower gain with tone.
timjatomnee 2 years ago
if your going for like a iron maiden sort of sound... yes... but again it has to been very loud.. very

Great tone !
gitarrbassi 2 years ago
That's killer tone. Is most of the gain from the amp mod or the MXR Wylde overdrive pedal? Possibly post a clip of amp one it's own?
thanks
gundgen 2 years ago
Most of the gain is from the amp, the overdrive add a slight boost. The amp has the perfect amount of gain on its own with Emgs for me. The pedal just pushes it over the edge. I'll try to get better vids up soon.

rclegg 3 years ago
it sounds really good dude, what modds did you say you did on your Marshall?
TAZ8593 3 years ago
Thanks for the comments. The presence knob was changed to a push/pull preamp gain. Effects loop was added, pull boost midrange knob that I don't use and switchable wattage from 50 to 100 watts. I purchased it with the modds and is now my main amp.
rclegg 3 years ago
How much did you pay for it, i love the tone coming from that amp. How does it handle distortion?
TAZ8593 3 years ago
I paid about $1000 used and it handles distortion fantastic. I use either the distortion from the amp or through a pedal in front of it.

nice shit! do you think the 1960ax cab can handle a peavey valveking of 100 watts?
snakefuckinpit9 3 years ago
no. 4 25w speakers are not good for a 100w amp.
plechatam 3 years ago
It should be able to I would think because their made for 100 watt Marshalls.
